The Bodyguard #1
The Bodyguard
Natasha Chamberlain is a young, single office manager who dreams of becoming an investigator. Offered the opportunity to act as bodyguard to computer genius/multimillionaire Roger Valentine while posing as his girlfriend, she jumps at the chance, hoping she can use this as a stepping stone into her firm's investigative department. Jonce Striker, founding partner of Investigative Services, Inc., does not know what he has let himself in for by suggesting Natasha play bodyguard to his good friend, Roger. From the first outing, when Natasha mistakes an extended lighter for a gun and creates chaos at a banquet given in Roger's honor, she causes Striker nothing but consternation and agitation. Natasha is overzealous in protecting Roger and manages to bungle three separate attempts by an extortionist to collect money from Roger while driving Striker crazy with her zaniness. Things turn serious when Roger and Natasha are fired upon while playing golf. Who is trying to kill Roger, and why? Is it the same person trying to extort money or someone else? Laugh out loud at Natasha's antics as she stumbles her way through the investigation.

Cute book! This book had me laughing at the antics the characters got themselves into. It was a light read and like a breath of fresh air for me. No darkness. Great characters that developed well throughout the story. Funny!! Natasha's character was a 25 year old, gun toting, wanna-be bodyguard who had the unfortunate ability of getting herself into trouble no matter where or what she did. I was delightfully surprised at how it ended and "who" actually saved the day. Great read!
p.s. Where, exactly, was that tattoo? :-)

Still bemoaning the fact that JD Nixon has not finished the Heller series, somebody recommended this as similar. In truth, it does have a Heller type vibe, but the penmanship isn't nearly as polished, the dialogue is completely juvenile and the characters don’t behave consistently (making them seem to have dissociative identity disorder). The interaction between characters was frankly so unbelievable I couldn't take any more by 42% - It's a shame because the book does have all the elements to make it good.....

Sitting in an office is not Natasha Chamberlain's idea of a good time, but she is waiting. Waiting for another opportunity in her company: to become an investigator.
So when she is approached by the boss about taking on a gig as a bodyguard, she is not pleased. Not what she'd had in mind. But the incentive: if she does a good job, she has a real chance to move up to the position she desires.
As a bodyguard for software genius and billionaire Roger Valentine, Natasha and two other bodyguards, Bigun and Pit, will move into his mansion. Sounds easy enough.
Almost immediately, the action is fast and dangerous. Someone seemingly takes a shot at Roger at an event they all attend. Or was that Natasha's overreaction?
Next, other dangers appear, but Natasha could be imagining things. Couldn't she? Her boss Striker seems very impatient with her, and trying desperately to please, the impulsive girl makes one mistake after another. Her impulsiveness, trigger temper, and over zealous nature could add to the dangers and bring down upon them all a world of hurt.
Fast paced, funny, and delightful, Natasha's adventures read like a romp through one catastrophe after another. Will they discover who is after Roger? What does it mean when there seem to be targets everywhere they go? Could there be more than one perpetrator? And could the danger be closer to home than they realized?
In The Bodyguard (The Bodyguard Series), the first in this series, we are introduced to Natasha, Striker, Bigun, and Pit. We also meet Natasha's mother Stephanie, who now goes by "Stevie." She seems to be having a midlife crisis. But Natasha and Striker are drawn to each other, despite how many conflicts they seem to generate. Could Natasha's penchant for dangerous situations kill any chance for the two of them?
I have read later books in the series, and adored Natasha in each one. She is less enjoyable in this one, primarily because she is like a catastrophe on legs. Too immature and impulsive. I'm guessing she grows over time. Recommended for those who enjoy suspense, humor, and lively characters. Five stars.

The first in the Bodyguard series by Christy Tillery French. Natasha Chamberlain is the office manager in a private investigations office. She dreams of one day being an investigator herself. When a chance comes along she takes it. Jonce Striker is her boss and doesn't like the chances Natasha takes with her life.
This book had all the elements that make a good book for me but it didn't come together as good as it should have. I hated the heroine. I didn't find much of the humor all that funny and so many of the situations just seemed unfeasible. For the fact I did finish it and there were some decent scenes and parts that I did like I do award it with 3 stars. It reminded me of the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich to a small degree due to the style of humor.

Hilarious intrigue
This reminds me of another series that makes me continuously laugh. Natasha doesn't want to be an office manager she wants to be a bodyguard. As she navigates and manipulates her way into becoming a bodyguard we see that nothing is going to get in her way not even the attraction she feels for her boss. This is definitely funny and has many things going for it

The Bodyguard is a totally delightful read. You have to take Natasha with a little tongue in check, but she is delightful and hilarous. I love the way everyone reacts to her; she either wraps them around her little finger or brings out the worst in them. The high quality of writing make the story work.

This is the 1st book I've read from this author but will probably read the next one in this series. Good mystery, a lot of humor and romance. Kept me guessing.
