This series was somewhat of a let down. It just didn't wow me. The storyline hovered just above boredom, it tended to drag, and it was very anticlimactic. Once Nari and Kincaid got past the growing pains of their new marriage, there wasn't much going on that held my interest. I think my problem with this book is, it was extremely soft and lacked that umph. I mean, if you're going to force me to read 400 plus pages, I expect to be entertained. I was not. I initially read this series because, I enjoyed Persistent Heart so much but the author's writing style changed significantly. It's almost as if two different people wrote Persistent Heart and You Could Do Damage Too. There was definitely a difference in the writing between those two books. While You Could Do Damage 1 and 2 were okay reads, I can't see myself re-reading these books or even recommending them to anyone.
I had a hard time staying with this one, which is funny because I really enjoyed the first book! This one didn't have too much going on for me, unfortunately. It was definitely a slow one.
A plus is that this picks up exactly where book 1 left off. Kincaid wasn't my favorite this time around lol. I did find a few things repetitive, which may be why I was let down. I was waiting for something big to happen, but this missed the mark.
Thank you to Netgalley & Black Odyssey Media for the eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.❤️
This was a good end to the series. I didn’t love it as much as I loved the 1st book but it still kept me entertained and I was invested in the characters. I think I expected more, especially after the events in the 1st book. There was less romance this time around.
Thank you Black Odyssey Media and Netgalley for this Advance Readers Copy ebook in exchange for my honest review
Honestly this wasn’t as good as the first book ! It had some good moments but didn’t keep me entirely engaged. This started to feel the like an Urban Fiction with a romance subplot , where as the first one was opposite. I still enjoyed learning more about Nari & Kincaids journey .
ok...Nari was all over the place... she didn't know how she wanted to feel. I was kind of over her picking a fight. You are in this marriage now baby express your feelings and get out of your head. Caid was too much and not enough at times. I feel like there was so much information missing and a lot of conversation that wasn't needed. There as some holes that need closing.
Just finished reading an advanced copy of a book that was just released on October 28th called, You Could Do Damage Too. This is a continuation of Nari and Kincaid's story from the book, You Could Do Damage. I don't want to give too much away, but Nari and Kincaid are trying to navigate married life together while both being strong willed and stubborn by nature. But they truly love each other and will do whatever it takes to keep each other happy and protect the life they're building together, no matter what or who tries to come between them. Both of these characters have grown so much since the beginning of the first book! They have helped each other so much to feel loved and important and valued. I really enjoyed getting another book about Nari and Kincaid, seeing their life together continue to evolve and these two navigate the ups and downs of marriage. I really enjoyed this story! ❤️📚
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for this ARC of You Could Do Damage Too, in exchange for an honest review.
Enjoyable end to the series. Nari and Kincaid went through it seemed like things would never be on their side. I enjoyed the ride though and was glad to finally see things come together for them. Good read.
Whewww, Kincaid and Nari had my pressure up the entire time! 😩 The push and pull between them was a lot, but I was fully locked in and I loved seeing their growth as a couple. Their fight for love was messy, real, and beautiful.
What really hit me, though, were the family dynamics. KC Mills delivered a powerful message: family isn’t always the perfect picture society paints…it’s the people who show up for you, even when the ones who were supposed to don’t. Sometimes, you have to build your own tribe, and that truth was front and center in this story.
Nari’s glow-up gave me life! Watching her step into her confidence and face her haters head-on? Chef’s kiss. And Kincaid? Baby… he is a good man, Savannah! 😌
This one had tension, love, growth, and a message that sticks.
Thank you NetGalley for the E-Arc Rating: 3.5/5 I enjoyed reading this second installment. However, I won’t say it was my favorite of the two. I think I just wanted more. The build up left me flat and still with so many questions at the end. I will say it kept me entertained even when Nari was getting on my nerves lol. It wasn’t bad , i could have been satisfied with just the first book.
Picking up right where book one left off, I was instantly reminded why Nari frustrated me so much the first time around. She has absolutely no sense of danger and trusts way too easily. I have to admit, her character development really showed in book two. She started paying attention, becoming more observant and aware of the people around her.
Kincaid was the ultimate protector. He made sure Nari and everyone connected to her were safe, no matter what. The grandmother was beyond bitter! Just shows you that age doesn’t automatically come with wisdom.
Even though this started as an arranged marriage of convenience, you can’t deny the genuine love between Nari and Kincaid. The moments with her mom was everything she needed to heal old wounds. It tied everything together perfectly.
Everyone knows I’m a K C MILLS STAN, however I expected a little more from this one. It took me a little longer to get through it than the first one. I enjoyed it but somewhere it fell a little flat for me! Remember peeps reading is subjective!
This story takes off where book one ended. However, this was on the slower side of things. It didn’t have the juice that book one did but still enjoyable. Both Kincaid and Nari kept having a push and pull in their relationship. A little aggravating, but of course this is what happens when you marry someone you don’t know. It was giving very much they needed to sit the hell down and talk because sex doesn’t fix everything. They kept trying so that’s important. Kincaid is the type that in the words of Jill Scott “can tell me what to do.” In the same breath he would have a time with me because i would definitely question him about who the hell he talking to all crazy. Lol!
Some of my favorite things: -The talk Nari’s mom had with Kincaid about the relationship. -Nari finding her voice more. -Alicia and the journey to have a baby.
(2.75⭐️) Now, K.C is an auto read author for me and I love her down! This one just didn’t do it for me unfortunately. I think book 1 could have just been 200 pages longer and it been a standalone. At times it felt a bit repetitive and just dragged on. I do like that It picked up exactly where book 1 left off, but a nice little recap in the beginning might have been nice. To me it felt like Nari had almost zero character development. She was still whiny, and a little insufferable well into over half the book. Like do you trust your husband or naw? Yes you have a new life you’re trying to get used to but sis caught an attitude hella quick and her insecurities were super loud. I love Kincaid’s controlling behind though lol. He was blunt, honest, protective & possessive. He’s the only reason I continued to read. The saving grace for me was the male narrator. I need more books narrated by Omari Silas.
While I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series, this one paled in comparison. Kincaid is still bae but there were pockets in the story that seemed to drag. Some of the "threats" to their marriage felt overly dramatic when it shouldn't had been presented as such. I will look to read more from this author. I will recommend that this author find another editor. The errors were too many to ignore which took away from the story.
Love. Loyalty. Danger. K.C. Mills’ You Could Do Damage Too grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let go. Nari and Kincaid’s story pulses with passion and intensity. Their love is dangerous, all-consuming, and soul-deep. As Nari admits, “He was embedded in me, but not just physically. The man was in my soul… He could destroy me.” This is not a gentle romance—it’s a storm. Family plays a central role throughout the book, testing loyalty and trust. Mills reminds us, “Families are the ones we create,” but also that “Sometimes families are the ones to do you the dirtiest.” The balance between chosen bonds and blood ties drives the emotional core of the story. Kincaid’s devotion is as beautiful as it is terrifying. “Loving you makes me murder with no remorse, no conscience, no discretion,” he confesses. His love knows no limits, and his protective nature bleeds into every interaction. The writing is rich with moments of intimate vulnerability and raw honesty. From the Akel family wisdom—“Being loved by an Akel man is like floating on air”—to Kincaid’s reassurances—“You said I was enough. I just need to be sure you understand you’re enough for me too”—this romance pierces straight to the heart.
You Could Do Damage Too is a beautifully intense exploration of love and loyalty. It leaves you breathless, moved, and completely consumed. 5/5 stars.
Thanks to NetGalley for hooking me up with ARC of this book. I had just finished reading You Could Do Damage so this came right on time…especially after that cliff hanger in book 1!
You Could Do Damage Too follows Kincaid and Nari as they settle into their arranged marriage turned marriage for love. The drama follows them through their first year or marriage, so we see them navigate through it in this book.
In my opinion Kincaid came off more possessive than protective for most of the book & even though I understood why he had to be that way I don’t know that I liked it. It was evident is he loved Nari down & would do anything for her (& did!).
In this sequel Nari struggled to settle into her new kingpin wife role & Kincaid was battling internal struggles of how to show up in his marriage.
Overall the drama kept me engaged with the book & I loved the character development the author gave us. There were a few gaps in timeline that made the pacing feel a little off but it was a good sequel to tie up the loose ends of book 1.
Thank you Black Oddessy Media for the ARC copy. K.C Mills did it again! This book was the continuation of “You Could Do Damage” and it was great. Things were wrapped up nicely and was full of suspense. I was at the edge of my seat reading, just waiting on that moment something happens. I loved how lovable the characters are, despite their flaws. Nari is so relatable and although her and Kincaid have many miscommunications, it doesn’t take away from the story. It’s part of life and actual relationships. Anybody in their place would have the same reactions. Everyone ended up happy which is great, I kept thinking oh no, the other shoes is gonna drop but I’m GLAD it didn’t. I loved the characters so much and they deserve all the good things.
I enjoyed this book just as much as book 1. The relationship between Nari and Kincaid progressed to an adult relationship. Nari had a lot of growing up to do to deal with her insecurities, and she did the work to become who she wanted to be. Kincaid still did not play about Nari and ensured she stayed untouched. His love and protection of her were beautiful. I loved Nari's relationship with her mother. They were all each other needed when it came down to the other family members. Endia's side of the family was trash and deserved to be put in their place. This story was the perfect conclusion. Everyone who caused them harm got handled, and all unanswered questions were answered. I wouldn't mind a novella on Endia, Nari's mom, to see her get her HEA with her boo.
THIS IS PART 2 SO IF YOU HAVENT READ PART 1 DEFINITELY GO READ IT FIRST
Love that this story picks up right where it left off, the bombshell cliff hanger that we were left with at the end of book 1. I sympathize with Nari because I can understand why she is not trusting based on her upbringings and also how she was torn between wanting that family and choosing the new one that she found. Kincaid was still protective but had to learn to lean more into what his wife needs and not just what he thinks she needs.
I feel like Nari was relatable in many ways and I'm happy that she found her passion by the end of the story. While I didn't love it as much as book 1 I still enjoyed the story and the relationship between the two. The way they were able to come to different resolutions, and one thing for certain, Kincaid loved Nari and worshipped her every chance he got.
With the way book 1 ended, I needed to pick up book 2 expeditiously.
What I appreciated most in book 2 was Kincaid’s and Nari’s character growth. Kincaid’s love for Nari was so fierce and real that it almost made me a little jealous. 🤣🤣 And Nari defintely learned to handle herself with this abrupt change of lifestyle.
I would say that I liked book 1 better but this was a good follow up.
Okayyy.. so I like this book more than the first one. I felt like book one was a slow burn, spicy, but slow.. which became the buildup for this book. I get it! But, this one was more enjoyable! This book revealed more emotion, more of Nari and Caid, more back story, definitely more spice, and more mafia-like ish! 😜
I loved the relationship with Kincaid and Nari the two where definitely made for each other their going LOVE was unconventional but beautiful. I'm glad Nari and her mom had a chance to build a solid relationship. 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
4.5⭐️ I had been waiting to read part two and it did not disappoint. So many twists and turns. Nari and Caid again made it through their ups and downs by learning to work and eventually communicate with each other.
Love and commitment keep them coming back to each other.
