This book is a companion story set in the same world as several of this author's other series, though it is most closely tied with the Scarred Mage of Roseward series. In that series, the fae king Lodirhal plays a minor role as this great fae king working in the background with a few hints about his past backstory.

It was really fun to finally see that backstory as Lodirhal's love story with Dasyra plays out in this book. This is probably one of the funnier stories this author has written, and I
I know exactly what I am going to get when I read a Mercedes book. Action, adventure and romance. This was a fun read, I enjoyed the slow building romance, but it is more the very different story lines that draw me in with her books. An Elf King that has been at war with the humans for ages fights his one true love for the victory. He just has no idea until minutes before the fight. I Love how different her books are. This one did feel a bit chopped up in the middle, so much more building could ...more

I didn't know that it was possible to invest so hard in the love life between two flowers, but I was. Oh, and Dasyra and Lodi were cute, too.

When I read the description of this book, I didn't get how this was a "stolen bride" situation, but boy was I wrong. Except, in this case, our hero is stealing her because it's the only way for him to break the unwanted but unavoidable fatebond that sprang between them and he can't ignore.

This book is heavy action with truly heartfelt romance between the ch

This is book 2 in the Stolen Brides of the Fae series. I am loving these books! They are each shorter standalone books and can be read in any order. I never really cared for shorter books because the stories always seem incomplete for me. But, these books have changed my mind!

I haven’t read many stories of fated love. It’s not a trope that I’ve sought out. I really enjoyed this one, though. For me the story is more about the journey that Vasyra and Lodirhal are forced to take after they realize

Loved every second of Dasyra and Lodírhal's story, they were so damn cute. Definitely a grumpy/sunshine dynamic, which I love. 🥰🥰

For a shorter novel, this was perfectly paced. It gave you exactly what you needed to feel connected to the characters and their romance in a shorter amount of time, and then it concluded in a satisfying and fulfilling way where I didn't feel like I missed out on anything.

Highly recommend!!

(Also never cared more about a flower in my whole life, omg.)
No rating as I DNFed at 16%. It was a case of me not enjoying the writing style at all. There was lots of telling, not enough showing. Sorry. :(

This is such a good read, one with fantastic world building and a story that although slow to start once to it takes off it really takes off! A well written journey filled magic, adventure, romance and a fate bond for Dasyra and Lodirhal and what a journey it is! A great adventurous read between human and fae and definitely well worth a look!

I like the concept of this book a lot. The whole reincarnated warrior witch that goes into a different body every hundred years or so. I thought this book might have been better suited as a longer book or a series. Things felt a little quick at times. It is hard to condense an epic journey and love in under 200 pages. But it was a fun read overall. I like that so far in this stolen bride series all of the brides are basically cool with the "stolen" part. At least Dasyra was actually kidnapped. ...more

A powerful, breathtaking story, set in Sylvia Mercedes's fantasy world, of enemies turned lovers and true love conquering in the end. Although the story can be read as a standalone, if you've read the "The Scarred Mage of Roseward" series, you'll find yourselves in a familiar world and learn the background story of Lodirhal. And if you haven't, then I highly recommend grabbing that series as well! ...more

Loved it! The action starts quickly and the pace doesn't slow down. The story is shorter than the usual novel, but I loved the characters and their chemistry. Wish there was more but alas its a standalone. Now I'm curious to pick up other books of the author as I enjoyed the writing a lot. ...more

Well balanced

Aww, this story is so well balanced with adventure, romance, fantasy, and even depth as the characters discover what true love is. My only complaint is that it is too short! It is well developed for a short novel though, so I can't complain too much, I just want more!

The book begins really interesting and draws you even from the first few pages. The story begins with Lodirhal that needs to face the human champion in the single combat, and the first that draws blood will be the winner – if he looses then their fae lands will be forever lost to the hand of the humans. Miphata, the human maid is to be possessed by the Incarnated Warrior - Illestriesa and her description is going to leave you

This is the second in a series called 'Stolen Brides of the Fae', in which a selection of well-known and admired authors such as Emma Hamm, Sylvia Mercedes and Sarah K L Wilson have written stories of the different brides, goblin, mage, shadow, etc.

This review is for Sylvia Mercedes' 'Stolen Mage Bride' which was a very entertaining and exciting read. An elf, King Lodirhal, is just about to do battle with a human mage, Dasyra, when he looks into her eyes and realises that she is his Fatebond, hi

King Lodirhal has to fight Mage Dasyra to save his people from slaughter. She is the vessel of the powerful warrior mage who can destroy her enemies in a matter of minutes. When they face each other on the battlefield, complications arise when they realize they are fate bonded to be each other's, true love. The only solution is to survive a perilous journey to the Sundering place to break the bond, but is it something they'll still want after everything they've endured together?

This is the second story in a series of novellas that a bunch of fantasy romance authors have teamed together to publish. It follows the story of King Lodirhal and Mage Dasyra, one of them was supposed to kill the other on the battlefield in a champion challenge to determine the ownership of a key military fortress. But when they meet face to face, they realize that there's a whole fated bond thing going on that basically ruins everything they each stand for.

Sylvia Mercedes' worldbuilding is one of the things I love best about her books. I was thrilled to see that this book would add more to it and reveal the hinted and hidden story we'd glimpsed in her Mage world so far. A nice work on the enemies turned lovers trope. I have to admit I didn't quite expect the way it happened. Dasyra reminded me of the characters of the Venatrix Chronicles a little but it was different as well. I didn't expect the Fatebound thing and it definitely did add urgency to ...more

A uniquely excellent fae romance

I am not usually fond of fae romances or stories with multiple realities. But, like everything Sylvia Mercedes writes, this story turned to be uniquely enthralling and well-woven. Although knowing her world is not necessary to enjoying the story, my previous experience with her writing helped connect characters, world rules, and settings in deeply satisfying ways.

This book gets off to a slower start than most of Mercedes’ books. This is important to establish the context for the conflict between the H/H. Because Lodirhal, the hero, is in a losing situation, he is acting more defensively than offensively. We need to see how dire his position is to truly grasp the shock of him meeting his fated bride, who happens to be the vessel for the spirit of one of his people’s biggest and most deadly enemies. Once Dasyra, our heroine, enters, the pace kicks up. She ...more

Dasyra and Lodirhal's story is yet another entry in the list of "Why Sylvia Mercedes is my favorite author". I swear each time I think she couldn't possibly top her previous books she goes and proves me wrong. Stolen Mage Bride is no exception.

First let me say that I adore the world she's created throughout her books, though you absolutely don't have to be familiar with it to fully enjoy this book. Her Miphate's are so interesting and I love the little homages to her other books that she includ

The Stolen Mage Bride is an amazing read filled with loads of adventure. Dasyra is a magess whom never wanted to become a vessel for the mighty warrior, Ilestriesa. King Lodírhal was told about one day meeting his true love, which is known as Fatebond. It would strengthen each weakness and weaken each strength.

When he meets Dasyra on the battlefield of a Champions Combat match, he doesn’t expect to meet his Fatebond. In order to get him closer to Dasyra, Lodírhal makes a dangerous deal with Kyri

An enjoyable read containing magic, adventure, romance, and fae. Humans and fae have been at war for centuries. Both have killed and they do not trust each other. King Lodírhal has a plan to keep his people safe and avoid death, even at his own expense. However, he has no intention of losing. Mage Dasyra is a kind and gentle woman, who does not like violence, yet have been chosen to be the vessel for Ilestiesa, a mighty warrior. They met in what was to be a fight to the death on the battle field. He was willing to sacrifice anything for his people. She was not willing to be a mindless tool for hers. Fate bound them together, something neither of them wanted. Together they make the treacherous journey to the Sundering, neither will emerge unchanged.

I'm not usually a fan of fated-mates insta-love story lines. But this did not follow the normal tropes. The banter was fabulous, the relationship growth endearing. The complic

Well, of course Sylvia Mercedes would have delivered flawlessly on Dasyra’s and King Lodírhal’s love story. I deeply enjoyed this short story. I’m fairly certain this story will be my favorite I’ve read as Sylvia is the only author I’ve read extensively out of any of these authors publishing in this series.

The romance, the chemistry, the adventure, the character development, the world-building—it was all so phenomenal. Dasyra was different than I pictured her when I first learned of her in the S

I loved this book. A fae king and a human mage fated to be together, but what fae and what human wish to be fated? None. So, they partake on an adventure that was destined to fail from the beginning courtesy of interference by a nefarious you will have met if you've read Sylvia Mercedes' Scarred Mage of Roseward. This book was incredible!! Sylvia Mercedes plots her books so well, and there is such a sense of direction and intention in the story-telling for Stolen Mage Bride. Dasyra is my absolute favorite female lead of all of Sylvia's books I've read so far! Dasyra and Lodirhal's story is perfectly adorable, without being "fluffy." This is a lovely, swoon-worthy romance with lots of adventure, creative world-building, a superbly-woven plot, and characters that practically step off the page (or out of yo ...more

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Wow, I absolutely loved this book. The chemistry between Daystar and Respen is unique and I was rooting for them. It took them a while to realize what they meant to each other. They fought the attraction and bond, but were curious about it and wanted more.
There was action and adventure throughout the book. And, self discovery for each of the main characters.

I enjoyed this story so much! Though the story starts slow it picks up the pace quickly. I was fascinated by the world building and the dynamics of the fated love situation. If there was one thing I would have loved more of in this book, it would have been more time spent on the trials Dasyra and Lodirhal had to go through as I feel it would have given us more time to see and really feel their feelings grow. With this being a short story I totally get needing to gloss over some of the trials to ...more

There wasn't much build-up. The world building was good, although there were some names of places that were just a tad bit farfetched. Adventure, action and romance it had it all. One thing I had a problem with was that it was too short. In genres like this, it requires length. It requires 50+ paragraphs of world descriptions, it requires 100+ paragraphs of a rich and budding romance between the two MCs. It needs foundation.

The ship wasn't strong in this one, I regret to say. But if you're look
