Anne Digby, the author of the Trebizon series of British girls' school stories (The Hockey Term at Trebizon, Secret Letters at Trebizon), themselves somewhat imitative of Enid Blyton's considerably more popular Malory Towers series, has undertaken to continue Blyton's Naughtiest Girl series, about Elizabeth, who deliberately sets out to be so outrageously naughty that she would need to be sent home, only to find out she actually is fond of Whyteleafe, her new school. Elizabeth is so impressed by ...more

While not as good as the original titles, there is something endearing about Digby's writing that makes me sure younger readers wouldn't even notice the continuity of these books. The great shame with Enid's work is despite her writing hundreds of stories, for me there was never enough in my favorite boarding school stories and this was no exception. This is the book were Anne Digby carries on the Naughtiest Girl series. So everything is the same and we still follow Elizabeth and her friends at Whyteleafe School. This time she is again trying to be good while keeping a secret that keeps getting her into trouble. I'm a little bored now but I still want to finish the whole series so I'm aiming to read one a month so I'll see how that goes.
