very informative introduction to mycenaean archaeology, without putting too much speculation on what the finds indicate!! will always mourn the loss of any literary evidence, but who knows? maybe there’s a mycenaean oxyrhynchus just waiting for us.

Ένα εισαγωγικό βιβλίο σχετικά με τον Μυκηναϊκό πολιτισμό, το οποίο δίνει μια συνοπτική εικόνα για τις διάφορες εκφάνσεις του. ιδιαίτερα ενδιαφέρον το γεγονός πως στο τέλος του βιβλίου παρέχονται κάποιες οδηγίες για για όποιον/α ενδιαφέρεται να μελετήσει περισσότερο αυτόν τον χαμένο κόσμο. Ενδεικτικά αναφέρω μια: "Αν κατέχετε τον Μυκηναϊκό κόσμο και το γραμμική Β' και άλλα χειρόγραφα του Chadwick, φτιάξτε μόνοι σας πήλινες πινακίδες και χρησιμοποιείστε ένα μυτερό εργαλείο για να αντιγράψετε μερικά από τα ιδεογράμματα και τις λέξεις. Μελετήστε τα συστήματα μέτρησης και δημιουργείστε τα δικά σας αρχεία συναλλαγών. Έτσι, όταν θα έχετε τελειώσει, θα έχετε κατανοήσει πολύ καλύτερα τα καθήκοντα ενός Μυκηναίου γραφέα. Μπορείτε να χρησιμοποιήσετε στυλό και μελάνι, αλλά δεν είναι τόσο διασκεδαστικό".
