Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush
When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.

"Rocco" by Christy Barritt is another great read, just like all her other books! I don't know how Christy Barritt can write so many books and come up with so many different plot twists, but she does it extremely well! This book is the first book in the Lantern Beach Blackout series. It was really neat to see some of her characters from other books, as well.

I definitely recommend this book. Christy Barritt's books are full of suspense and mystery and are extremely clean. You won't be disappointed!

I received this book from the author for my honest opinion.

"How had such an ordinary night ended up like this?"

Delivering cupcakes. She was just there to deliver cupcakes. "I think there's a misunderstanding here", Peyton Ellison quips to the hooded man standing next to the entrance of a dark warehouse building on the sketchy side of town. But never in her wildest dreams, make those nightmares, had she imagined being caught in the middle of a gun fight, only to be rescued by a dark knight with a mesmerizing British accent.

Rocco Foster had acted on pure instinct. His former experience as a Navy SEAL had honed that ability well, but now he had a frightened female pinned underneath him on the pavement to deal with, one that smelled suspiciously like . . . . . a bakery? What was a beautiful woman holding a box full of confections doing in the middle of their mission? Obviously, some very dangerous people had now seen her face, putting in grave danger based on the near ambush. Either that, or she was a very convincing decoy sent to confuse his elite Blackout security team away from their original plans.

What a fun start to this Lantern Beach sub-series; two opposites attracting under the most curious of circumstances forming a recipe for danger or delicious; which would it be?

"One day, she was going to have quite the story to tell. If she lived long enough to tell it."

I’m so happy that we are still getting to live in the land of Lantern Beach and visit with these hunky ex-Navy SEALS. I love this whole fictitious group of guys. They are larger than life and I would love to have them on my team guarding and protecting me. In this story, I really couldn’t believe Peyton, the female main character, would leave the safety of these wonderful guys! I wanted to scream at her many times! Didn’t she understand they really were the good guys?
Christy Barritt has done it again! This is another FANTASTIC, FAST PACED, FULL OF ACTION, and SUSPENSE book! (With a bit of romance mixed in.) Her stories just keep getting better and better!
Christy Barritt is an author who knows how to keep you reading and reading and reading until you’ve realized you’re done and onto the next book. The only problem is that this is a new series so now I have to wait to read the next one! UGH!
If you LOVE action, mystery, suspense, intriguing cyber problems, and sweet romance, you will love this book!
This story will keep you on the edge of your seat until you finish it. Be prepared to not put it down, even to eat or sleep!
I was given this book by the author which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Bit Mystery, A Bit Suspense

I'm a moody reader and this fit my mood perfectly today. It was a bit mystery and a bit suspense without becoming too intense. I liked the pacing and the characters. It would appear that there is a developing plot line that will be carried through the series. There wasn't a ton of depth or emotion but that was okay for me today. Now I know what I'm going to get with this series I'm looking forward to the next book when the mood hits.

Rocco by Christy Barritt brings readers back to the world of Lantern Beach and the Blackout crew. The first chapter draws in the readers with the suspense and the action from the first chapter. Barritt does what she does best. She leaves the chapters hanging with suspense that the readers want to turn the pages and turn to the next chapter. It was nice to see the next generation of the retired Navy Seals who are going to work with Blackout. One of my favorite parts is the returning characters from the previous Blackout stories and surrounding stories. Cassidy makes an appearance too. The mystery was a typical Barritt novel, which I love. The romance was not that big of an issue; this time around the plot focused more on the solving of the mystery versus the romance between Rocco and the leading lady. Overall, Rocco by Christy Barritt is a new addition filled with a mystery that will keep readers begging for the next three books in the second series about this brave retired Navy Seals as they navigate life on Lantern Beach.

I received a complimentary copy of Rocco by Christy Barritt, but the opinions stated are all my own.

It was great being back in Lantern Beach with this new spin-off series.

You’d think delivering cupcakes would be safe, but baker Peyton Ellison finds out that’s not always the case. Making a late night delivery at the request of her brother turns dangerous when bullets start to fly. What kind of mess has Peyton found herself in?

The new Blackout crew has been hired to catch a person trying to sell company secrets and are staking out the location where the transfer is supposed to go down when Peyton shows up to deliver a box of cupcakes. Trying to figure out how she fits into the investigation, but knowing in his gut that she’s innocent, Rocco vows to protect Peyton and get to the bottom of what’s really going on here. This simple investigation has just turned complicated. There’s danger at every turn as they try to unravel this complex mystery.

It took a few chapters for me to really get into this book, and I’m not sure I ever connected with the characters. There was also some suspension of belief needed for some things, but, all in all, this ended up being an enjoyable mystery. And I'm eager to visit Lantern Beach again soon.

In a spin-off of the Lantern Beach Blackout Mystery Series, we are introduced to some New Recruits, the first being Rocco, the suave ex-Navy Seal with a British accent (he has dual citizenship in the US and England) and impeccable manners. Poor Peyton, the cupcake baker, is unknowingly thrust into the middle of a gunfight and has no idea what to believe or who to trust. Some pretty high tech stuff has her, and the Blackout Team confused and turning on each other. I enjoyed the original Blackout Series and was looking forward to the New Recruits. This book did not disappoint! Full of action and red herrings, I was guessing the culprit, then doubting myself, to the very end, and am lookingforward to the next book in the series. I received a complimentary copy of this book, but the opinions are my own.

This is the 1st book in the New Recruits series by Christy Barritt. Here we are introduced to Blackout's Team Leader, Rocco as he tries to solve a mystery involving a very dangerous technology and a baker called Peyton. As Peyton and Rocco start developing feelings for each other, their relationship is tested and as time runs out they have to risk trusting in each other cause, if they don't, lives could be lost.

So, I liked the book. It was short, precise and concise. The faith content wasn't as present as other Christian Fiction books, but the romance and the language was clean. Also, the romance between Peyton and Rocco was cute, but seemed rushed. The ending did caught me a little by surprise, but the way the story was wrapped up was so sudden, I was left hanging.

Still... I was in the mood for some Christy Barritt and was happy that she delivered. Looking forward to Axel (book #2)

I know whenever I read a book set in Lantern Beach, it's going to be filled with mystery, suspense, and a touch of romance. Rocco does not disappoint. I enjoyed this "introduction" to the new recruits of the Blackout security team. The characters are so interesting (who doesn't love a British accent) and I really identified with Peyton. She is totally clueless about what is going on when she delivers cupcakes to the middle of a gunfight!! The issue of trust is what both Rocco and Peyton deal with in this story - plus trying to figure out why Peyton was set up. This story keeps you guessing until the very end! I received an advance copy from the author and all opinions are my own.

Back to Lantern Beach, but different in that the story begins in Virginia.

We met Rocco in the final book of the Lantern Beach Guardians and you knew he would be a charmer. This books dives into some scary tech stuff, but was another fast paced and action packed story. Peyton was a fun character that brightened this story with her cupcakes.

Look forward to meeting the other new recruits for Blackout.

A continuation of must reads!

A gorgeous man with an accent and a beautiful damsel in distress, the stuff of romance stories. This story doesn't stop at the typical crossroads of romantic suspense; Christy Barritt adds family betrayal, past heart break, and espionage to the mix, creating a deadly combination for the people embroiled in the relationship. A nice beginning for a new series. A good combination of the familiar and the new, drama, suspense, and romance, written in a manner anyone can be comfortable reading.

Pastry baker Peyton Ellison, Blackout Security members and their former SEAL teams are targeted. The suspects are plentiful, crafty and highly dangerous. Clean, cozy suspense from Christy Barritt keeps readers guessing and invested until the last page. Hopefully, the next book in the new spinoff series will be available soon.

I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

Another page turner

Christy's Lantern Beach books have become my favorites, though I think I've read at least one - and usually several or all - from each of her series. This first in the Lantern Beach Blackout series had a plot that you could see happening in today's world - and kept me reading right to the end, long after I should have been asleep. The hint of a new love connection thrown in didn't hurt either! I can't wait to read Axil, Book 2.

Barritt Delivers Again!

Christy Barritt delivers another page turning novel with her dive into the stories about the recruits. She grabs and pulls you into the story from page one and you feel like you're living the mystery with the characters. My only complaint is that the stories are a bit short. The ending leaves me wanting to get to know the characters just a bit deeper. It was awesome to see some previous friends, I mean characters, make a guest appearance. :-)

This book, Rocco, in the Lantern Beach Blackout series, is a terrific read. I absolutely loved this book. From the beginning of the book there is constant action which kept me reading till the story ended. The main characters, Rocco and Peyton, are people that I would love to be friends with. They are both solid, honest individuals. This story has many twists and turns to the plot which add to the excitement of the book. I highly recommend this book for a pleasurable quick read.

Big Christy Barritt fan here. Love all of her Lantern Beach novels and this new series is a wonderful addition. Rocco with his doesn't-quite-fit-the-Seal-image dress and culture is a fun character to kick off the New Recruits series. Peyton and her happy-go-lucky personality is a wonderful counter to his rather staid character. I also enjoyed the over-arcing plot line that will include all the books in this series and maybe more. So much fun.

Who is Pulling Off the Extreme Scam?

Another suspense novel set on Lantern Beach by Christy Barritt. Four Blackout operatives have been hired to catch the person or persons set to buy trade secrets from a technology company. But who is the pretty woman waking up to the stranger with a bakery box in her hands? Who are the men in the dark van with machine guns aimed at the woman? Christy Barritt has written another thriller.

Enjoyable Suspense Romance

I enjoyed reading this clean suspense romance story. I found it was much better than the first story I read by Christy Barritt, so I'm glad I tried her work again. There is more emphasis on the crisis than the romance, but the way the story unfolds works well, I think.
If you're looking for a pleasant way to spend a cozy evening in, this book might be just the thing.

Excellent!

I loved the story, a page turner of perfect suspense, to say the least. Christy Barritt always tells the story in such a way, it pulls me into the scene and makes me feel as it I'm right there, feeling and seeing everything as it it were real. She is an excellent author in every way that counts. And now....... I'm off to get the next book in this series. I can't wait to begin reading it!

Another Lantern Beach page-turner

It's going to be hard to say too much without spoiling parts of the story. ROCCO features a ripped-from-the-headlines-worthy situation that pulls the new recruits at Blackout into intrigue.

Highly recommended! Looking forward to the second book in the series.

Rocco is the real deal

This is the zing of the kind of novel that got me hooked on Christy Barritt in the first place. Romantic suspense with a strong, quirky heroine, a plot that keeps moving, twists and turns, and Lantern Beach all worked together to make me ignore my responsibilities and enjoy my day off.

Intrigue

Christy Barritt has another winner with Rocco! A hero with an accent and a heroine caught up in trouble make for an interesting pair in this suspense filled story. This is a great blend of everything that makes a clean romantic suspense successful. Woven in with suspense is a perfect blend of hope, faith and romance. I highly recommend this book.

Too short

As always Christy delivers a sweet but thrilling mystery. On this one I felt it was a little too short and the ending wasn't built as well as she usually does. But I still gave her 5 stars because I got to know the characters, the plot was interesting, and of course it was Lantern Beach!

These Black Op guys from Lantern.Beach, we’re on a stake out. When Peyton comes delivering cupcakes a special order from her bakery.
A bad area and pitch black outside, when guns start firing, and Rocco grabs Peyton to her rescue. The plot escalates, and someone knows there every move, but who. A man hiring them to protect his work, a brother who sent her to the bakery. An ex boyfriend who knew technology. The team and Peyton didn’t know who to trust. Good story.

I loved this book! It kept me up late at night--very suspenseful! Peyton is in the wrong place at the wrong time delivering cupcakes. Rocco and the Blackout team are running surveillance and come to her rescue. Rocco and Peyton couldn't be more opposite of each other, but could romance blossom midst all the danger? An exciting read!

love the twists in this book

First of all how do you really trust someone? I know I started having my own doubts about some of the characters. Amazing story line scary but realistic new technology in story. I will probably now binge read the rest. I also recommend getting the audio as the characters do come to life even more.
