Cal’s hoping that he’s going to be able to adjust to retirement. He’s not the kind of man who knows how to relax and do nothing. He’s glad to be in Summer Lake with guys he used to work with—guys who’ve already made the transition from covert ops to a more regular kind of life.
His friends have met women and settled down with them, though. And that’s not in the cards for Cal. As far as he’s concerned, the female of the species may as well be a different species.
When he first meets Teresa, she only confirms for him that he has no clue how women operate. But she makes him want to figure it out. She’s a breath of fresh air that he doesn’t know how to handle. She’s very much her own person, but before long, she has Cal wanting to figure out how to make her his person.
Teresa’s bowled over by the big, sexy, serious-looking guy who walks into her salon. After a less than auspicious beginning, she’s left disappointed. But not for long.
He might seem serious and a little bit intimidating, but Teresa can see through the tough exterior to the big-hearted guy underneath.
These two might not look like the perfect match on paper. But he makes her feel cared for in a way she never has before. And she brings out his softer side—and his smile, and boy what a smile it is!
Pick up your copy of this heartwarming romance today to follow Cal and Teresa’s journey. You’ll laugh and cry with them as they get a little help from his friends, and from her three-year-old granddaughter on their way to finding their happily-ever-after.
Hi, I'm SJ. A coffee addict, lover of chocolate and drinker of good red wines. I'm a lost soul and a hopeless romantic. Reading and writing are necessary parts of who I am. Though perhaps not as necessary as coffee! I can drink coffee without writing, but I can't write without coffee.
I grew up loving romance novels, my first boyfriends were book boyfriends, but life intervened, as it tends to do, and I wandered down the paths of non fiction for many years. My life changed completely a couple of years ago and I returned to Romance to find my escape.
I write 'Sweet N Steamy' stories because to me there is enough angst and darkness in real life. My favorite romances are happy escapes with a focus on fun, friendships and happily-ever-afters, just like the ones I write.
These days I live in beautiful Montana, the last best place. If I'm not reading or writing you'll find me just down the road in the park - Yellowstone. I have deer, eagles and the occasional bear for company, and I like it that way :0)
I love these Summer Lake Silver books. It is nice to be able to read romance books with more mature couples, especially since I am more mature! It was so funny how Cal and Terry (Teresa) met and the big misunderstanding. Cal is good friends with Manny, Ryan, and some of the others from past books. He fascinated me as he is a huge guy who is very handsome, but sometimes has scary faces that scares some people away. He also seemed shy at times. It is funny when the big bad guys can take down criminals but don’t know how to act around a woman! I so enjoyed the relationship Terry had with her daughter Elle and granddaughter Skye. I love how young children can make situations so much more relaxing. Skye loved Cal and he was so good with her. Unfortunately Terry’s ex husband tried to make some trouble. I definitely did not like him. I so enjoyed the book and getting to know this couple. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I still want to move to this community! I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
For gruff Blake Callahan, Cal to his friends, retirement is proving to be a little difficult to settle into. A chance meeting with the local hair dresser Teresa, is about to change that for him quicker than he'd ever have thought possible. A fab story that proves love can happen in a moment at any age. Couldn't put this down as per usual with may of SJs books. Helps if you have read the previous books in the series, to put some of the characters into context, but worth reading as a stand alone too.
Hey fellow readers !! I know I say this every time but.......................I don't know what else to say. Absolutely fantastic reading adventure.
These "lake" people are totally amazing. Especially this Silver bunch. As an older person myself, I really enjoy reading about older people finding love the second time around. Beautiful, in-depth characters with deep, emotional dialogue that lets us know they've been hurt, but survived to live and love again .
SJ never gives me a bad book, and believe me, I've read many, many of her releases. She has a magical way with words that puts you right there, with the characters -- laughing, crying, loving, etc. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a beautifully written, sweet, amazingly hot love story.
So good to have a new Summer Lake story ( thanks SJ ;)
Teresa is a lovely heart warming mother and grandmother, who's ex still keeps causing problems meddling in their daughter and granddaughters lives,as well as enjoying putting Teresa's back up with snide remarks. But now she's got a new man in her corner who would fight to protect her and her family.
But this is more about Cal falling for Teresa, sparks fly on their first encounter in her hair dressing business when he calls in to see if it's possible to get a trim, and they both end up getting more than they bargained for.
All these books are about strong people meeting someone who becomes pivotal in their lives. There's dramatic episodes, lot's of loving and mostly a happy ending.
From SJ, bought yesterday and finished this morning! Once you start one.of these it's hard to.put down, I have all her books and love her characters and the way they weave in and out of stories creating a familiar feeling. Read one and you just have to read them all! Teresa and Cals story is just as beguiling as the rest. Waiting now for next one!!!
Loved Cal and all his Alpha tendencies. Teresa is smart and capable of taking care of herself, but it doesn’t hurt to have someone special at your back. Cal is that person for her, her daughter and granddaughter. Cal and Teresa are honest to each other...even if their start was a bit rocky....
You never stop amazing me with your ability to draw the reader in. The descriptive words paint beautiful pictures in my mind. Love ALL your books. Thanks for another great one.
Talk about what to look for in real love!!! This has become my new fav! It reads so easy, Teresa really lucked out with Cal. Then I can just visualize Cal,Manny and Ryan standing at front door to give the ex Steve what he deserves!!!!
I loved Theresa and Cal's story! They started off on the wrong foot but certainly made up for it in the end! They're perfect for each other, and both deserved so much happiness and love. Another great story in the Summer Lake Silver series! Read them all! I have!
Oh I just loved Cal and Teresa story!! They made such a wonderful couple!! He is so good to her and her daughter and granddaughter!! They made such a wonderful family!! I would recommend this book to everyone!
This was one of six of the best books in a series you can read besides the summer lake series. Loved each an every one an I’m always so sad when they end. Thank you for such a great series. 🙏💕❤️
I really enjoyed this story by my favorite guilty pleasure author. SJ’s stories are always short but sweet with just a little bit steaminess. The characters are always likable, sometimes lovable, and the plots are fun albeit sometimes a little convoluted. This one was no exception.
Hero hotness alert! I’m a fan of SJ McCoy’s summer Lake Silver series, but the hero in this book is one I wish could be cloned and spread around! The romance between Cal and Teresa is very special, and this has now made it to one of my all-time romance favorites!
I just love the series and I love this author's storytelling! It's sweet and to the point! I can't wait to get my hands on another one of the books in the series, or any one of her series as a matter of fact! Loving her😍
This author never fails to pull me into a story, the characters are always relatable, the romance just right, I also love how this series follows couples 50+ falling in love, so sweet and romantic, returning to Summer Lake Silver is always a pleasure
This is the 6th book in this “Silver” series and what a unique and refreshing change it is to read about more mature couples, and this is Cal and Teresa’s story. Cal is a workaholic who is retired and is moving to Summer Lake to work with his good friends Ryan and Manny, and when he first meets Teresa he goes into her shop for a haircut, and they hit it off, that is until Teresa misunderstands a text message that Cal received, and she jumps to the wrong conclusion. When they meet later with friends for a drink, they get a chance to talk about what happened, and the chemistry between them is off the charts. Bring into the mix an ex-husband who tries to interfere in Teresa and her daughter Elle’s, and cute little granddaughter Skye’s life, and he is put in his place in no uncertain terms by Cal, Ryan, and Manny. This is a beautifully written story which is filled with witty and flirty banter, drama, and this is an entertaining, humorous, and all-consuming and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I absolutely loved this story! Cal is so swoony!! It was so sweet watching him stumble through asking his friends for advice and tips on his new relationship with Teresa. I absolutely loved how protective he was of Elle anytime mentions of Donovan came up and how he instantly took to her daughter Sky. It seemed that he would do absolutely anything for the 3 of them and that's the kind of man I LOVE seeing get a happily ever after!
As always, I love how SJ is able to weave characters from past books into each new story without leaving new readers feeling left out or behind. If you have been following along with the series, you'll be happy to know that people such as Ryan, Manny, Dan, Austin, Nina, and Kenzie make an appearance in this book! And if you are a new reader, don't worry, everything will still completely make sense and you'll get to fall in love with lots of characters all at once!
I didn't think the Silver series would interest me as they are all couples who are in their 50's+ and I'm in my early 30's but this is the 6th one I've read from SJ and I have to say I like them just as much as the stories with the younger couples. Them being older seems to give the story more depth and makes me that much happier that they've finally found their happily ever after so many years later.
We are back at the lake for another visit with our Summer Lake Silver family. It is always fun when a book starts off with the hero and heroine, Cal and Teresa, and the chemistry is there, they are flirting, and then a misunderstanding happens, not a good first impression for either of them. Fast forward, to an evening out and of course matchmaking is on the agenda with Nina but when Teresa shares her story of her day and the group thinks she may have a ‘stalker’ and then Cal shows up and their friends realize something is amiss. I liked how Cal and Teresa talked about the misunderstanding and decided to have a drink elsewhere to get to know each other. I also loved how the group of guys were such a big part of this story as well, I love that they are there for each other and I can see it is also hard for some of them from leaving their past behind, moving to the lake and becoming more social, but it is nice to see them band together when they need to. I also liked getting to know more about Elle and of course Skye, she is too cute. Of course, we had to have a little drama with Steve, but I loved how Cal, Ryan and Manny put him in his place, another great part of this story. Really loved this couple and their story and the ending was awesome. I would definitely like a Cal of my own. Looking forward to the next story with Elle, Skye, and Donovan.
Cal was new to the lake community and met Theresa when he visited her salon for a haircut. The immediate attraction was blown when she saw what she thought was a text to his wife and though him a creep for hitting on her while married. Then she was introduced to him by her friends and she realized her mistake. Coming clean about the misunderstanding and that his text was in fact to his sister, they could not deny the chemistry. Why would they, they've passed the age for being coy. Soon they realized that this was more than just a passing fling and with him fitting in so perfectly with her family, even being called grandpa by her granddaughter she hoped they were playing for keeps. I love these books with older characters, it is really in keeping with how you mature and handle relationships - at this age you don't have time for games and need to go for what you want without wasting any time. They are the perfect couple, she a strong woman in her own right but Cal knowing when to be her protector without taking away from her independence. I loved meeting up with characters from previous books and meeting new ones and cannot wait for Elle and Donovan's story. I received an ARC copy and am leaving a voluntary review.
Loved it! First of all this is book 6 in the series. You can read this as a stand alone but you get to know the characters throughout the series. One of the things I love about the whole Summer Lake Series is we get to keep in touch with all our favorite characters along the way.
Cal and Teresa's story is just....... swoon! I don't want to spoil anything for you but Cal walking into Teresa's beauty salon... I could picture it in my head and had me giggling.
I hope you love these stories as much as I do.

The Summer Lake Silver books are such a refreshing read. They are about mature couples, who have experienced life at its best and worst. Cal and Terry met under auspicious circumstances and a misunderstanding over a text message Terry glanced at. Cal just retired and arrived at Summer Lake. He’s friends with Manny, Ryan, Dan and many past characters from previous books. Cal considers himself “rusty” at dating and Terry is a very much “in charge” person. The two are so unmatched but their chemistry is off the charts, igniting them both. Two workaholic people, an ex-husband who tries to interfere with Terry’s and her grown daughter’s lives, plus by adding Cal and Terry’s chemistry, it becomes a very heartwarming romance. Add Terry’s three year old granddaughter, Skye’s, interactions and it makes their happily ever after, so perfect! Enjoy lots of smiles and happiness and read this book and others in the series.
I received this book as an Advanced Review Copy. I am totally in love with this series, and Cal and Terry’s story is no exception. Cal is a semi retired Special Ops guy who moves to Summer Lake to help set up Dan and Ryan’s security firm. He’s a no nonsense type that once he knows what he wants and has his plans laid out, he doesn’t let anything, or anyone get in his way. And that includes Terry’s scum bag ex husband. Terry is fun loving but avoids sharing a lot of personal stuff. Her main concern is convincing her daughter that she and her granddaughter should stay in Summer Lake. But when her friend insists she meets Cal, she agrees. Both are out of practice and it’s fun to read as they get their bearings. I loved this book and I would recommend it to everyone.
I feel like Summer Lake is my favorite vacation place. Whenever life is a little bit crazy, escape to the lake. SJ’s writing is engaging and it is easy to fall in love with her characters and the communities that she writes about. If you have never read her work...treat yourself. The beauty of this series is these characters are proof it is never to late to find your soulmate. Cal is strong and organized, but had no idea what he was missing. Terry had heartache and trauma and did not want to be bothered with men because she was so capable of taking care of herself. This story is a treat for those of us looking for characters older than our children. Read it...I promise you too will be on a vacation in Summer Lake in no time.
More than sometimes is the 6th book in the Summer Lake Silver books, and in this one we get to hear the stories of Cal who works closely with the guys from previous summer lake series and Teresa who has also made appearances in other books.
Cal has moved to summer lake to start a new life and meets Teresa unfortunately he doesn’t leave a great first impression and has to win her over, Teresa is helping her daughter and granddaughter get back on their feet and wants to convince them to stay in summer lake by getting her daughter be more involved in her business which will give her the time to put her feet up more.
Cal buys a new house and asks Teresa for help decorating in the hopes that he can convince her that he’s ready to settle down.
I am more than a fan of SJ's books. I want to move to Summer Lake and be surrounded by the beauty and love of this community. The Silver Series shows that you are never too old to fall in love and live your best life! Cal and Teresa are 2 perfect examples of this.
Their 1st meeting may not have gone very smoothly, but you can't always jump to conclusions. Watching Cal and Terry become one is an adventure I can see happening to my friends. It is real and their past affects it along the way. But their past has led them to the present and that is what we all could wish for! More Than Sometimes is another masterpiece by SJ McCoy! I will never get enough of her books!
You will definitely love this book. And if you have not already read all her others...What are you waiting for?
