I loved the first book in this series so much that I was worried I’d be disappointed with this one considering it has all new characters. But as usual, Mell Eight has wowed me with the way she can write a book that seems so simple, yet delivers so much. While the characters aren’t the same as in the previous book, I would definitely recommend reading Kelpie Blue first, my review of which can be found here. The world of Underhill is introduced and explored more thoroughly in the first bo

With beautiful imagery and a sweet character leading us through the chaos that is being thrust on him, this is a solidly interesting story. There's a lot of lore that could have confused us completely, but since Merridy has basically the same level of understanding as the reader, what he needs to understand is laid out fairly simply. The chaos is pretty natural considering the situation, so the jumble we find ourselves in is excusable.

And then we venture Underhill. The dangerous elements aren't

I need to read more romance/sci-fi books! Clearly I'm missing out on a really cool genre!

I didn't know what I was getting into with this book, sci-fi isn't my normal go-to for a book but I really wanted to give it a try and see what it had to offer, and I was thoroughly impressed! I quite enjoyed this story and the characters.

Even though it was a novella and fast-paced, it was very enjoyable to read and to see the main relationship start to bloom in the magical world they were set in. I'm glad I

I‌ ‌‌received‌‌ ‌‌a‌‌ ‌‌copy‌‌ ‌‌of‌‌ If a Butterfly Don’t Fly ‌by‌ ‌Mell Eight ‌via‌‌ ‌‌IndiGo‌‌ ‌‌Marketing‌‌ ‌‌&‌‌ ‌‌Design‌‌ ‌‌in‌‌ ‌‌exchange‌‌ ‌‌for‌‌ ‌‌an‌‌ ‌‌honest‌‌ ‌‌review.‌‌ While I’ve not known anyone who is mute, I’ve had hearing-impaired friends and so learned basic ASL. I can empathize with Merridy feeling cut off from the world at times as I’ve experienced that as also being differently-abled. Of course when Merridy meets the members of Changling’s Court there is one who hears ...more

Music, magic, and monsters oh my! This book was an absolutely magical read. I love stories with fae when written well (and this definitely falls in that category). Merry is proof that there are more ways to have a voice than speaking, and the bonds of friendship run deep. The song lyrics added just the right touch to the overall mesmerizing quality of Mel's storytelling. Having read this I definitely plan on going back and reading book one too!  ...more

When Mell Eight was in high school, she discovered dragons. Beautiful, wondrous creatures that took her on epic adventures both to faraway lands and on journeys of the heart. Mell wanted to create dragons of her own, so she put pen to paper. Mell Eight is now known for her own soaring dragons, as well as for other wonderful characters dancing across the pages of her books. While she mostly writes ...more
