My interest was peeked for this novel when the author described it as an action/adventure historical fiction. I have to say action/adventure is not one of my usual genres but I enjoy delving into the past so I was happy to step into unknown territory for my reading.

Author Amanda Vink sets out the scene perfectly from the glitz and glamour of the 1920’s when life was starting to buzz with new possibilities. We step into the shoes of our adventuress, Marjorie Hart, who is still grieving for her fa

Let's start with the good news and the bad news: The good news is, there will be more Marjorie Hart books to enjoy! The bad news is, we'll have to wait -- but they'll be worth it, if you enjoy books about intelligent, adventurous young women solving mysteries, taking on the bad guys, avenging a family death, and doing it all while fending off potential suitors with one elegant hand.

Remember Marion Ravenswood, Indiana Jones's first love interest? Imagine what her life might have been like if she'

A story after my own heart, the expertly crafted tale of Marjorie Hart is one that can hardly be put down. Adventure, Mythology and Buffalo, NY, you know you need the first two, trust me Buffalo is a hidden gem even in literature. I can’t help but hope for this to become a film one day. It’s a dream of a role for a strong female lead. This story inspires from beginning to end.

What a debut! Amanda Vink expertly weaves a story that spans early 20th century Buffalo, Egypt, Iraq, and Sri Lanka. Smart, driven, truth-seeking Marjorie Hart is the protagonist you love to follow anywhere. I was on the edge of my seat for the whole book, wondering who I could trust and who would make it out alive. Loved it!

Wow. Not only did I get a great historical fiction reminiscent of Indiana Jones... I got an independent woman protagonist with whom I could identify & aspire to be. Marjorie does it all. She seeks out the truth and she saves herself- all while remaining vulnerable in her own way. Can't wait until the next adventure! ...more
