so good! i especially loved the team’s dynamics (i will always eat up a good ol theme of brotherhood), especially all that wang yuxi, a side character, brought to the table. he was so chaotic and i adored him. i also liked yao sen, he was very slick. i felt extremely warm & fuzzy reading this. my only complaint is that shao han was a bit boring. for a love-at-first-sight love interest, however, he was better characterized than i would’ve thought. but, unfortunately, still not well enough (which is why i docked a star)

as for gameplay, this book was perfect for me in that aspect. i love esports novels but don’t play video games myself, so sometimes i get overwhelmed or bored with long passages of details. “does love at first sight exist in esports?” didn’t have much of that which i appreciated (though i know that might turn others away from the book).

does love at first sight exist in e-sports

I read this in manhua format.

This book focuses more on character development vs the game and span about 90 chapters in manhua format! This story is cute, sweet and fluffy.

The MC, Yao Shen who is the top 5 player in Asia and Captain of the Titans falling on first sight with the vice-Captain of another team, Shao Han. Definitely a he falls first trope here. I also love how he wasn’t planning to confess or do anything about his feelings until he realizes Shao Han also developed feelings for him.

It’s also nice to see Yao Shen and Shao Han’s teammates teasing and rooting for them. Their water cooler fans were also quite funny in a way.

Overall, would recommend for the vibes but if you are looking for something like ICDI, this may not be the book for you!

English title: Does Love at First Sight Exist in Esports?

I'm always excited to start another esports book, but this one was a bit of a disappointment. The esports elements didn't come through as much, even though both main characters are members of professional teams. Overall it felt like their lives were pretty chill compared to the pro players in other esports books I've read. There was also a lot less funny banter or even hilarious fan comments than I was expecting, so really the book focused on romance and their relationship, and the esports setting was more of the backdrop but not the main story.

The story follows the MC, Yao Sen, who's the captain of the Titans team. He pretty much falls in love at first sight (and sound) with Shao Han, the vice president of a competing team called Noah's Ark, and pursues him pretty straightforwardly until they get together.

Overall it's a short-ish story with only 70 some chapters, and they get together around the chapter 30 mark, so they're dating for the majority of the story. Their relationship is sweet, but that's it; there's nothing particularly exciting happening in the story. The whole thing with the copycat team was building up to something but overall ended up being meh, and even the Titans winning the world championships was kinda glossed over at the end in only 1-2 chapters.

Because the story was pretty flat, I'd only be able to read a couple chapters at a time before I lost interest or got sleepy. I can usually finish stories of this length in 2-3 days, but it took me almost a week to finish this one. Like I said, it was kinda disappointing.

Read it for the dog food ah-
As someone who loves their E-sport Danmei to he dominated by the E-sport part, I enjoyed this, too much fluff, am quite full from the dog food am being fed hehehe.
Mc gotta be my favorite, he's so outgoing and so sweet, also the E-sport explanation literally takes a whole half, the gaming was not explained much, but the ropes and rules and talks about the competition system got my brain bussing, never ask me how the competition system for the WCAD was explained, I still don't know how they calculated the score but I enjoy myself some win.
It actually has a lot of pressure rising comp, not like the type that just has a straight win guaranteed for the MC team, no, I was quite scared ah, I wanted to jump to see if they'd win, but I had the hope "Main characters always win" lol.
The characters are also my favorite, I love the team commaderie sm AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, and how Shao Han just became a part of the Titans team, that I don't even find it questionable and neither do the Titans team members whenever he goes wherever they go lol, I feel like Shao Han appeared in Titan more than he did Noah's Ark, omfg😂😭.

I thought it was pretty interesting how the main couple actually got together rather early into the series. Additionally the description focuses a lot on the misunderstanding at the start of the series, but like it gets resolved in about 3 sentences. I really did think it would hinge more on that misunderstanding but no not really.

Also it was like super implied that there was a second couple but nothing really ever happened between them and I feel it would’ve been awfully nice for the second half of the series. The second half of the story also really switches for us from the main couple to like actually what they do for a living but I didn’t particularly find the story line to be intriguing.

Overall its like exactly what I was looking for when I started reading it, being a pretty cute and relatively short romance, so I can’t rate it lower because its exactly what I wanted.

Ugh. Till now, I still can't figure out the background/ gameplay of the e-sport the novel is based on. I can only assume that it is based on PUBG with a unique and simplified set of gameplay (either for the ease of the author or the translator, though I'm leaning to the former).

Regarding the e-sport aspect, it doesn't really draw me in as it neither touches on the hardships or growth of the players.

For the love aspect, I guess the smut was not too bad but I felt that the fluff was slightly forced. We see MC (gong) being super enthusiastic and taking most of the initiative while the ML seems to be mostly polite and courteus. ML does initiate and shows his love sometimes but it feels really mild....

Not even sure to recommend a one time read but it is pretty short.

Rating: 3.5/5 - Cute.

This isn’t a life changing read, but it is really cute and relaxing. The characters are the usual suspects, a cold, aloof beauty shou and an OP, gorgeous, black bellied gong.

The smut is probably the sole reason this is rated higher than most - it’s very average smut tbh.

Overall I still liked it because it’s not short enough to be forgotten nor long enough to become boring.

Recommend as a palate cleanser read with early romance and soft characters. Drama free.

really cute, just good vibes. E gaming book. I did not understand the game lol but it was fine, it didn't take away from the plot. Mc is a really entertaining character with depth surprisingly. He could be really funny but really thoughtful. ML was so sweet.

Me encantó, simplemente es tan tierno todo, no tiene grandes problemas y como se desarrolla es de una manera tan natural. Amo la tranquilidad de esta novela.
