A Profound Story of Faith in the Midst of Unimaginable Tragedy.

Bill Harrison is a rare human being. At age 91 he still travels around telling his story and selling books. I had the honor to meet Bill and read his book. His story is so incredible that one of the production companies I work with obtained the rights to turn this story into a feature film.

It is almost unfathomable that someone could go through what Bill did and live to tell about it. How Bill survives the extreme forces of nature, psychological torment and physical pain he endured is a captivating and fascinating read. It is a testament to the power of the human spirit. Finding God in the midst of excruciating torment while watching his friends die one by one, prompted Bill to a deeper faith which ultimately saved the remaining survivors. His story continues to reach people over sixty years later. This is an amazing testimony; a truly gripping and incredible story you must experience.

Veteran Television and Film Director Tim Lowry puts his touch on this deluxe edition with new pictures, follow-up stories and the eye of a skilled documentarian finding new pieces of this archived moment in American History. Tim also offers a FREE documentary short film on Bill's story as he directs his talents toward the feature film production of 6 Days on A Raft.

This is a story that deserves to be told, to be preserved. I feel happy for the author that he has now had a chance, at age 92, to tell his story of survival and have it published for history, for posterity.

He also honors his fellow soldiers who were with him on the ship that sank, those that did not survive. He honors their memories with compassion and dignity, and shares his faith through his story. Thank you Bill for your service.

On September 16, 1945 one month after the first bomb was dropped on Japan, the YMS-472 sank in a typhoon off the coast of Okinawa.

Six days on a Raft is Bill Harrison's first hand account of being on board during the sinking, how he and eight of his shipmates were able to pull themselves out of the stormy waters and into a small life raft. Sharks surrounded the raft and one by one, his shipmates that had been beside him for days in the life raft, slipped into the ocean due to dehydration and drinking too much sea water, By the time they were finally rescued, Bill and only a few men were left.

This is a wonderful story of God's faithfulness and the power of prayer! This book is definatly worth the read!

I got a chance to hear Bill Harrison speak at an event in 2014. He astounded me with his wisdom and clarity as he recalled events that happened nearly seventy years ago with such clarity and purpose.

Bill's story of survival is not just miraculous, it is inspiring. His suffering, pain and will to survive under such adversity is truly amazing. To read the account of his faith and survival is truly a blessing and I recommend this book to everyone, even if it is to simply understand that God is present in our biggest struggles and he will never leave us or forsake us.

Take the time to let Bill's story minister to you. It is a journey that few would survive, and none with out faith.

I was given a deluxe copy of this book through the First-reads program to give an honest review.

The story of 9 sailors on a raft spending 6 harrowing days with no food or water was horrifying and inspiring to read. It is a story of a man's faith in God and his belief that his life was in God's hands to save or take.

Bill Harrison lets us know his life story and the details of these six days that shaped the rest of his days here on the earth. The book comes complete with photographs and is soon to be a movie.

Mr. Harrison still speaks at churches, schools and wherever else he is asked.

It is a true story of a man who confronted death and came out on the side of God. Inspiring and a blessing of a book. I couldn't put it down!

I won this from a Goodreads First-Reads contest.
I enjoyed this book about his tale of survival. It's amazing what he went through. I am giving this book three stars only because I felt the book lacked polish in terms of writing. I think it needed to be edited a little bit better. Grammar aside, I did enjoy it and would recommend others give it a read.

It was good but..........a little to religious for me. I wish he would have talked more about the storm and being on the raft. I did love his memory tree. That was a wonderful tool for survival. The pictures were great as they put faces to the people in the story.

It's difficult to imagine what these men went through. Mr Harrison, 70 years later, still becomes emotional when he talks about his ordeal. Incredible book, incredible man.

An extremely interesting, captivating story. My only real problem would be how it's written in quite an amateur fashion, more effort could've been made to bring the story to life.

Not feeling hopeful with what my final impression of this book will be. The actual "story" only lasts until page 129 with the remainder being mainly photos. That being said, I will plow through the remaining 94 pages of text.

About halfway finished and I know unless this story pulls out an amazing ending, my review will not be favorable. The manner in which this was written is so beyond amateur, that it is detracting from what could possibly be a good story. The editing, redundancy, odd sentence structure at times has left me thinking that the person writing this is merely writing an old man's words down and nothing else. While that would not necessarily be a bad way to hear a story, it is a undesirable way to read a story.

Finished reading Six Days on a Raft. I am sure the ordeal experienced by Mr. Harrison was beyond putting into words, but so little of the actual event was actually in the pages of this book, it was more a telling of what a man goes through as he is finding a profound faith in his God. The style of writing was at best high school level. I sure wish a different writer would have captured this story and made it worth the few hours needed to read.

I won this book on a Goodreads.com giveaway.

Wow. WW11 was a time by itself that is surreal and hard to understand to many of us. Our men went off to war to fight and most did not come back home. This book is about a small group of survivors- 4 on a whole boat that managed to survive. It started with 9 on a lifeboat that dwindled to 4 over 6 days in the raging ocean against sharks, dehydration, no food, hallucinations, you think it and it probably occurred.
Now in 2014, one person is still alive to tell us the courage and strength of what happened during that time and how he survived. Bill Harrison is 92 and is a survivor! Here is his story and also the story about the war and his testimony towards his teammates that he honors.

Faith restored

I was having lunch at a local Italian place that we have been to many times before. Only this time we sat at a table I'd not previously sat at before. Above out table on the wall was a shadow box with pictures, memorabilia and a book the owner had written about "Six Days at Sea". I had a hard time putting it down. It really spoke to me about the power of the spoken work of God can change anything.

I received this book from Mr. Harrison after I lost a Goodreads giveaway. (Thanks for sending me a copy!) This book tells the true story of Bill Harrison and 8 other men who found themselves overboard after a tsunami. The 9 men were stuck on a raft with no food or water for 6 days. This book tells of their experience (during and after) and of the faithfulness of God in times of need.

Young man in the Navy, was aboard a ship. A typhoon came, destroyed the ship. Nine men ended up on a raft. Five were rescued, six days later.
