Ruthless, dispassionate and callous. I coerce and threaten, using intellect and power to subdue my enemies. That's what the Cane’s needed in a Lawyer and that’s how the world now sees Landon Broderick. But roles are shifting. And family drama certainly isn’t welcome in my ceaseless unrest. At least my dirty, little distraction keeps me sane. She’s wild and free, sordid and beneath my standing, and yet I crave her above any other woman. No touching, though. No attachment either. It isn’t until Willow Etherington, my new PA, diverts my attention that I begin to feel myself weaken. She’s fierce and unyielding, professional and direct. And while sleeping with my staff isn’t usual, if I can’t have the one I want, I might take the one dancing a dangerous path instead. I make the rules here now. Family standing be damned.
Hailing from the depths of the quiet British countryside, Charlotte likes nothing better than sinking into her characters dark and devious world's. Sometimes they're kinky, sometimes they're twisted, and sometimes they're a serious hold on tight situation, but her stories are always filled with romance and love in some form.
So I liked the first book in this series a lot this one I absolutely loved and Landon surprised me the most there’s so much more buried underneath the surface than was first apparent with him. Don’t get me wrong he’s a complete and utter asshole most of the time and he definitely doesn’t always play well with others he also has a huge sense of superiority and can be incredibly rude but he also had a sort of refreshing bluntness about him that I found incredibly appealing.
I loved the first chapter of this we get to see a snapshot into Scott and Persephone’s Paris reality and it warmed my heart to witness them so happy a contentment that was even evident to Persephone’s enigmatic brother Landon who decided to walk away without interference and let nature take its cause. His disillusioned cynical arse convinced it would only be a matter of time before Scott screws up and his sister returns back to the Broderick fold.
Willow is an enigma perfect PA by day and sultry seductress by night. When her work and personal life collide she’s equally as drawn at least Initially as she is logically compelled to stay far away especially if she wants to keep her job intact. Watching these two traverse their feelings without giving each other the upper hand was electric and I’m now sensing a pattern in this series of unconventional endings that are more like new beginnings with future growth still to come and each piece of the journey forward connects to the next one.
There’s still plenty of secret’s here waiting to be revealed and this was well written and very absorbing I’m incredibly excited to read Ivy’s story next especially after that epilogue. I definitely recommend this series. I voluntary reviewed a copy of The Lawyer. (The Broderick Saga Book 2).
OMG, what a freaking awesome story!! Landon is unlike any character I have read in a long time. Yes, he is a hard ass, sometimes heartless, and even at times devoid of feelings. Those are characteristics we see sometimes in these books. But while the book is progressing you start to see light poking out through his heart and that is what makes this book different. And those little bits of light ONLY come out for one person, and that is his PA Willow.
Willow has secrets that she wants to keep hidden, but the more she gets closer to Landon the more her secrets have a chance of getting out. No PA wants to get caught with her secrets and no PA wants to sleep with their boss. But the chemistry between these two is flaming and their friendship keeps growing.
The ending of this story was the best part, Landon and Willow have a wonderful growth in their relationship. And even though we do get a HEA, it is nothing like what I expected. We even get a little glimpse of what is to come in the next book The Writer.
What to expect: 💥 Asshole CEO 💥 A secret unravelled 💥 High tension 💥 Hot AF desk situations 💥 PA with an attitude 💥 Broken rules 💥 Suspense 💥 Love story
I have literally spent the whole day reading The Lawyer as I was unable to put my kindle down. I cannot express how much I love this story. I’m no stranger to reading the work of both authors and so I had high expectations before opening this story at the very first page. As always, I was not left disappointed, in fact this book along with The Muse will be amongst my top reads of 2021.
If you have read The Muse, which is the first book in this series, then you will have already met Landon Broderick. He made quite an impression and I was desperate to learn more about him. There’s something about Landon, and having finished reading The Lawyer I now find myself feeling pleasantly surprised with what I discovered. He intrigued and continues to intrigue me. I found that I was so enamoured with him that I could spend the rest of my days…. watching him (which I realise makes me sounds like a stalker). He ticks all my boxes - He’s smart, confident, dominant, successful and hot! Yes, he can be an a**hole at times, but I’d rather describe him as ruthless and determined. His story made compelling reading and I’ve loved seeing his different personas – well those that he has allowed us to see, and to be honest I hope that we will see more of him in the future.
Willow Etherington is an incredible leading lady. She has a fabulous personality and she is perfect for Landon. There is more to Willow than what I was expecting and I honestly cannot wait for you to meet her.
This story kept me captivated throughout. Sometimes I can read a book and simply enjoy the storyline that has been penned, but then there are other times when I can’t help but be consumed by that story and this is one of those times. I was fully invested in Landon and Willow. I physically reacted to whatever was happening with them, and I often found myself to be smiling as I read because I was thoroughly enjoying what I was reading. I loved being in on a secret, and the anticipation that built whilst waiting to see if and when this secret would be disclosed was incredible - and I had no idea what would happen following any revelations.
I highly recommend that you read The Lawyer. You are going to love Willow and Landon and I am certain you will enjoy witnessing their interactions as much as I have. They are instantly attracted to one another and their sexual chemistry will have you needing a cold shower or two. I’ll never tire of being in their company as I loved seeing them together and also how they acted and reacted to situations as the story unfolded. Having the story told using dual POV enabled me to gain a greater understanding of their thoughts and feelings, which I absolutely loved. As I said earlier in my review this is a definite top favourite read of mine.
After reading The Muse #1 I was so glad to read Landon and Willow's story. I suggest reading The Muse first. Landon grew up under the pressure of his tyrant father. He learned to be ruthless in business and runs a very tight ship. For months Landon has had a fixation on Juniper. A well known dancer at a club. If only... With Nina on maternity leave Willow had to step up to become the PA to the new CEO of the company. A moody alpha was not what she signed up for. When secrets are revealed and lies exposed Landon must made a life changing decision.
Gripping second book in the Broderick Saga series. Packed full of suspense, secrets, tension and some steamy hot seduction, I loved it from start to finish.
He may be a hard, ruthless, determined, dominant a-hole but very quickly I couldn't help loving Landon Broderick, despite starting out feeling quite the opposite about him after his coldness and cruel words towards his sister in the previous book. He still intrigued me even then and this sexy, hot af lawyer come reluctant CEO of the family business revealed so many intricate layers. I'm sure we still haven't seen them all yet! It was going to take a special woman to break through his hard exterior and Willow was exactly that. She'd been through a lot in her life but she was confident, sassy and as Landon's new PA, she surprised him with her comebacks, banter, wit and her take no nonsense attitude.
However this seductive, sexy siren was keeping a secret, one that set her mind and body free. How could she tell him without ruining her career and betraying the trust they were building. If Landons own dirty little secret was discovered it could destroy everything.
I loved their slow burn but combustible chemistry and I really loved seeing Willow bringing Landon's softer side out and confuse the hell out of him! It was lovely to see a few glimpses of Persephone and Scott too, especially after the way things ended in The Muse. Landon's reaction to them was very enlightening and these two brilliant authors are certainly weaving a wonderful web connecting all these characters together.
After that tantalising ending, the next book with Landon's sister Ivy at the forefront, cannot come quick enough!
Giving The Lawyer five stars was the easiest decision I've made all week!
Well, well, well they’ve only gone and done it again. Another truly spectacular story from Ms Hart and Ms De Lune. I love Landon, hell I love all Hart De Lune leading men but I have to say it was Willow that stole the story for me this time. Her spirit, her fire and her sassy soul is everything. She’s a proper take no rubbish kind of girl but she also has a heart so big. Gah I love her sooooo flipping much! This story is sort of a continuation of the first story, The Muse, just with different leading characters and you really do need to read book one before reading this one as there will be bits you won’t understand if you haven’t read The Muse. Truthfully this deserves more than five stars as it is beautifully written, well thought out with characters that are not only believable but also truly likeable. There is so much more I could say, so much more I really want to tell you but that would be giving too much away so I will leave this here and go wait not so patiently for book three of the series. Absolute brilliant perfection!
Holy Moly Landon is just wow!! You seriously can’t hate him anymore, I absolutely fell in love with him and the chemistry between him and Willow is of the charts!! Willow is seriously one of my favorite heroines now, she is a brave brave woman. Loved everything about this book the story, the characters and that ending made me melt it was simply fantastic.
Hot on the back of The Mews, The Lawyer didn’t disappoint. How could it, written by such brilliant talent?
Landon has given up everything to take over as CEO of the huge corporation Broderick Media, his life in Chicago has left him callous, ruthless, unforgiving with the inability to have any emotional attachment. Landon exercises control in all areas of his life including that of his family. After The Muse, I can’t say I was taken with Landon I thought he was a brute, but after this book…….
Willow is Landon’s new PA, and boy does she take him by surprise. Having been taught a lesson in tough love, she is motivated to do well in all areas of her life. She is confident, fierce, spirited and unafraid to speak her mind. I actually love this girl.
With the ability to breakdown brick walls, Willow brings out a different side to Landon, a softer side and definitely one that takes him by surprise and that he doesn’t understand. This also brings out a playful side to them both, their natural familiarity is great. Watching them transverse a professional and personal relationship is captivating.
Both have a secret they want nobody to find out about, Willow’s could have a detrimental affect on her job, but is reluctant to give it up her passion, one that allows her to be somebody totally different.
Landons is one that nobody can find out about, something that someone of his standing shouldn’t be seen anywhere near, but Landon wont give that up either because its his escape and he has a serious obsession a Dancer.
"All this fucking money, all this position and stature, and it’s nothing but a common whore that reduces me to a goddamn wreck. She’s like a queen in her little box, owning me and every other fuc&ing man that’s here to salivate over her"
Only Willow knows Landons secret and likes the power this gives her, but what happens when Landon finds out the truth. Betrayal and suspense keeps you gripped.
Landon and Willow ignite the page, each having the power to break the other. The sizzling chemistry, playfulness, this book has it all.
"What we will become from this point onwards is also still unknown. But we are something. "
The clever crossover in each book is brilliant, you get to see what Seffi and Scott are up to, and also the glimpse into the next.
Thank you Rachel and Charlotte this was absolutely brilliant, can we have The Writter now please !!
This story took me by surprise. From the start Landon Broderick is arrogant and you almost want to smack him. He is blunt but is also confident. Landon is attracted to a dancer called Juniper. He negotiated private dances in efforts to sleep with her. Enter Landon’s new personal aide Willow Etherington. She is a little frustrated with his standoffish behavior. Willow is a strong woman who has a brother she would do anything for. Landon succumbs t his attraction to her and the feeling is mutual. I loved this story. This journey in the Broderick world was one I could not put down. The characters were amazing and Charlotte E Hart with Rachel DeLune have written one of the best stories I have read so far this year. When Landon discovers Willow’s secret he becomes enraged. Willow gives it right back. It is a fast pace story that has you on end. I love what these two authors have created and I can’t wait for the next installment of this series.
The Lawyer ( The Broderick Saga book 2) by Charlotte E Hart and Rachel De Lune is the eldest siblings story. I can start by telling you I did not like Landon at all from book 1. The only reason I read this book was because I felt cheated out of a real resolution to the relationship with his baby sister Persephone and the family's sworn enemy Scott Foxton. I also wanted to know if the authors were going to redeem Landon and make me like him. I am happy to report that all my concerns and fears were addressed and satisfied. I loved this story. I got my resolution and additional tidbits about the happy couple that made me happy. Have to admit I was worried if those two would make it. Now to Landon. Yes he is a brooding bitter and unscrupulous guy but some where along this story he turned me around. His journey was entertaining as well as suspenseful. It was touch and go there and I didn't know which way it would have went. You see his new PA has caught his eye as well as his dirty little secret he indulges in during stressful times. Neither is marriage material and he has a duty to his overbearing father. Just an entertaining story that had me from the beginning to the end. And of course we got a snippet of which sibling the next book is going to be about. Should be rather interesting. As a freelance journalist Ivy is a woman of the world. I give this book 4.5 stars.
The Lawyer opens with a gritted teeth, virtually hissing, Landon, poised to stick a large extended boot into the path of Scott and Persephone, thereby disrupting their increasingly happy life in Paris. His arrogance, determination and huge personal drive make him an almost unstoppable force. But wait...the screeching of brakes as Landon makes a decision which I did not expect! But then, Landon was always going to be complex and totally fascinating, and so it proved. I loved this book. It more than continued the promise, intensity and dynamism of The Muse, which captured me completely, drawing me into a plot which both delighted and held me gripped in its clever claws. Willow is brilliant. She is more than a match for Landon, with a backbone that can withstand the onslaught that is our stubborn, focused and engrossing hero of the piece. There is wonderful word use, vivid language, tight plotting and heat level which is so satisfying, and by that I don't just mean between the sheets. This series is fabulous. I am so invested in it and know that I will reread it once it is complete as these characters are totally irresistible. Brilliant!! 😍💖💖💖💖💖🌡🔥
The Lawyer from the Cane series is back from the States to take the helm of the family business. His sister is on his bad side after leaving for Paris, and Landon is feeling the pressure from his tyrant of a father. Enter Willow, his new PA. She intrigues him, but he doesn’t do office affairs. He does, however, have a dark and dirty side. And a desire to meet a mystery woman who fulfills his fantasies while dancing. But as the days go on, Willow is becoming more important to him. I absolutely loved this book! Landon’s redemption didn’t seem possible to me. But this story, beautifully written by the epic team of Charlotte E. Hart and Rachel De Lune, was hard to put down! Ready for Ivy’s story “The Writer” soon! I will be re-reading this one soon as I read so fast I probably missed some things! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I loved Willow and Landon! Book 1 in the series, The Muse, was excellent reading and so I expected the same from Charlotte E Hart and Rachel de Lune. But in my eyes they far surpassed my expectations! The lawyer had all the ingredients for a brilliant read. Landon, the Alpha; bossy, domineering, and aggravating , who we met in the first book, continues to be as surly as ever. But then Landon needs a temporary PA, and his surliness starts to wear thin after Willow comes to work for him. She's is so proper... business suits and her little peccadillo for shoes... Miss Efficient. She's a sexy package wrapped up in a business suit as far as Landon's concerned. BUT, we know he's a bit of a voyeur and his world is about to be turned upside down... Excellent read. But you do need to read the first book, The Muse, before you come to The Lawyer for it to have a full impact. I really would love to read more about Landon and Willow in another book.
This is Book 2 of the series (The Muse was Book 1, where we met Landon Broderick). He is everything an alpha-hole should be, and seeing Willow give him a run for his money was quite entertaining! He's a bit of an enigma, but he could also be so charming, and there was no doubt that he was sexy!
I loved their story, and their dual POV was really done well, giving us those glimpses into their thoughts and feelings, and making me fall in love with this bad boy, despite his pushy personality!
Oh Landon. There were times I just wanted to strangle him but there were times I wanted to just hold him. There is so much more to him than what you see. There’s are times you want to just throw in the towel with him but getting past his barriers are totally worth it. I totally loved Willow. I may have a girl crush on her. I definitely recommend reading the first book in the series. I’m am now anxiously waiting for the next book.
I was kindly given an ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review and I have given it five bloody huge stars!!!
I don't think I have ever been this bloody excited for a sequel before but damn it! I couldn't wait to get my hands on Landon and he was everything he promised to be in the that appeared in "The Muse".
Landon is hard, ruthless and absolutely depraved but I couldn't get enough of his story. Once I started I couldn't put it down, I was completely gripped. Willow his female counterpart was feisty and sexy and when they were together, they were on fire. I swear I could feel my kindle heating up.
This author duo are an amazing team and "The Lawyer" just proves how talented these ladies are.
Landon Broderick is full of himself. He's arrogant, brooding, demanding, and self absorbed. Everything about him screams rich, old money with a side of entitlement. But....oh man is he gorgeous in that all man dressed in a suit with forearms that won't stop from calling your name. I wanted to hate him. Kept trying, too, page-by-page, but nope, I just wanted more. Willow is his PA by day and his naughty little secret "dancer" by night, except Landon doesn't know it, yet. Willow matches Landon on all levels, she's daring, strong, quick-witted, and determined to scratch below his outer exterior to see the man he hides underneath. The Broderick Saga #2 holds you in place with intrigue, dark elements and family secrets, all while wrapping you up in a whirlwind affair with Landon and Willow. I highly recommend this series!!
This is the second book in The Broderick Saga and it is an enthralling read from beginning to end. It is not a standalone and “The Muse” should be read prior to beginning this book. Landon, Landon, Landon, what are we going to do with you? From the beginning he comes off as arrogant with confidence in spades but yet, you have to love him. Willow is the woman who becomes Landon’s personal assistant and she has some secrets that when brought into the light, have an impact on her working relationship with Landon. These two together are fire and it ignites something in Landon that pushes him on a journey of self-discovery that has him standing in his power and showing his chops. Overall, this is one storyline with grit, steam, heat and a whole lot of drama packed in. There is also an epilogue that gives readers a glimpse into Ivy and her story that I cannot wait to dive into. I recommend this book!
4.5 Stars The Lawyer is the second book in The Broderick Saga. While I liked The Muse, book 1. I loved The Lawyer, this story. This is Landon Broderick and Willow Etherington’s story.
Willow is Landon’s new PA and she has a secret life. One that if Landon puts two and two together. And, he will. He may or may not be happy about the secret. A very enjoyable story and one that I didn’t want to put down.
The next 2 books will be about Landon’s sisters as well as book 1 was.
There are going to be 4 books in this series. The Muse - Persephone Broderick and Scott Foxton The Lawyer - Landon Broderick and Willow Etherington The Writer - Ivy Broderick and ? The Fallen - Neve Broderick and ?
I can’t wait for the next book in this series, The Writer, to come out!
It’s taken me a while to write my review because I’ve been trying to come up with words to adequately express how much I loved this book! I really have nothing as eloquent as what I’m thinking, so I guess I’ll just babble and hope that what I feel about this book comes out in my words. Landon - oh my goodness - if ever there was a more egotistical, bossy, demanding, full of himself, megalomaniac it is certainly Landon!! And, damn if you don’t end up loving him all the more for his attitude as the book progresses! It his journey of self discovery through out this book that is so intriguing! Then there’s Willow! Smart, sexy, stubborn, head strong Willow who comes to work for Landon because his current PA is going on maternity leave! The push and pull during their conversations has so much underlying heat, sexual tension, playfulness, and emotional tension in it it’s palpable!! I literally want to keep these 2 with me for ever!! LOL I’ve read this book 3 times now and I’m still not tired of reading it! I still turn the pages hungrily to read what’s happening next!! I really enjoyed everything about this couple and this book AND after reading that Epilogue I am totally looking forward to reading book 3 in this series, The Writer!! I wish I could give more than 5 stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The lawyer. Second book in the Broderick series. For me, Landon I had a hard time understanding Landon in book one. I got that he was head of the sisters and was taking over from his father. But then book 2 came. I didn’t think I could even begin to like what Landon Broderick was all about but Christ on a bike, did he change my thinking. The emotionally closed off brother, egotistical, unapologetic and unashamed. But man does he make a suit work! Love me a cocky b*stard in a suit! After coming back from the States to head the family and take over Broderick Media from his father after storming the legal system with his skills and talents. But I’m steps Willow as his fill in assistant. Willow brings out unknown emotions out in him. He actually shows his human side. But she also has a secret.. hmmm. But with her happy go lucky attitude and bubbly personality she had him questioning himself in the emotional stakes. I loved these two together. But again secrets dominate the family, and the suspense is amazing! It’s a definite page turner.
Landon Broderick, man, he’s one of those book boyfriends that you really shouldn’t like but damn he’s so… sigh. Loved him! I’m so invested in this series! I can’t give them enough stars! Just read them!
Wow! I didn't think I could enjoy this book as much as the 1st one but man, this was everything! Absolutely loved Landon and Willow. Landon is an absolute jackass but you can't help but love him. Willow is strong and firey with a hidden part time hobby that could shake everything if Landon was to find out!
I adore Hart and De Lune when they co write together. Both of these authors alone are amazing, but together, they totally rock your world.
Holy moly! What a story! I know it’s cliché to say, but I literally could not put this book down. Landon and Willow just leapt off the pages and took root in my mind. Landon is angsty, powerful, an ar$ehole but god did I love him. He’s a complicated soul and his connection with secretive and intriguing Willow was sizzlingly powerful. This is more than just an office romance; the feels, the drama entwined with nuclear emotions just made The Lawyer one of my top reads of 2021!
I can't get enough of the characters these authors create.
A real strong, fierce heroine in this story. She likes a strong, confident man. But she can also put him in his place when required. The chemistry with these two is off the charts explosive. It had me rooting for the two of them early on.
My only negative for this amazing book was that the end felt a bit rushed, plus massive cliff hanger not knowing what to expect from them as a couple. Now I must get the next in the series, even if I was going to do that anyway.
Landon is all set to take over as CEO for his fathers company. With his assistant going out on maternity leave, a replacement has been brought in. Willow is very capable but Landon is exacting and does not like to talk at work unless necessary. This makes it hard for Willow, who does at least like to be asked for coffee. Add in that these two know each other from somewhere else but do not realize it. Tensions are kept high between the two. Opinion Let me start by saying that I am completely jealous of the first assistants maternity leave. A year! Holy cow! I was happy with three months but I couldn’t even bring myself to dream about a year. (Sorry, side note now completed.) I think the angst that Willow feels often with Landon adds so much depth to the book. There seems to be a constant power battle and Willow grabs it wherever she can. Landon, however, is used to being in control and doesn’t often relinquish it. This makes for a moving story. This is the second book in the series but could be read alone. Landon’s sister, from the first book, is certainly mentioned. The primary focus is on Landon in this one though. With more sisters, I expect there will be more books. This book did live up to the first. I enjoy Ms. Hart’s and Ms. DeLune’s writing style and look forward to more books from them. Many thanks to Bare Naked Words for providing me with an ARC of this book.
The Lawyer was definitely an unconventional book that I'm still not sure about. I know that I couldn't put it down because of all the twists & chaos throughout the pages, but I sure didn't like Landon for a cool minute because of his almost too cold & arrogant demeanor that lasted a bit longer than I prefer in my heroes. I did love Willow though, but she had some secrets that won't make friends so I was on the edge of my seat waiting for that other shoe to drop when it came to her. I'm doing my very best to keep this review vague since it feels like everything is a spoiler at the end of the day. My one huge gripe about it all was the ending as I need a bigger conclusion to stories that I get into so deeply, and it was just like a for now type of ending with the next book being about someone else but that's just me. Please decide for yourselves since this is only ever my opinion, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This is the second book in the Broderick series, and it does not disappoint. This time around we are given Landon's story. The bossy, demanding and dominant Landon, has taken over the family business. Enter his new PA Willow who is a feisty take no crap woman, though she also leads a double life. Landon is drawn to Willow but is reluctant to take things further as she works for him. However Landon has a secret of his own, will it mesh with Willow's double life?. There are some hot scenes but it is also a great story. These two authors know how to draw the reader in and keep you wanting more, I can't wait for book 3
So here we are with part two of The Broderick Saga and let me just say that it does not disappoint. Landon is the big brother lawyer who is cutthroat, stiff suit, and dealing with his dysfunctional family members. Then you have Willow the substitute PA who lost both of her parents when she was young and forced her to raise her younger brother. Then you have Willows alter ego (you will have to read to get her name) but she is the adventurous one of the two. She likes to entice and let me just say strike a pose. I love her. I also fell in love with Landon and his take charge disposition. When he turns on the sweet and sexy side I start to fall deeper in love with. Yes I said in love. LOL The beginning of the story was great and it did not take a long time getting to the good stuff. The only thing I can say bad about this book is that I didn't want it to end. Luckily there is a book 3 in the works and at the end of this one it touches on the new book which features his sister Ivy. But please if you have not read the first book It was just as good. It is about his younger sister Persephone. You will not be disappointed. So until then........... Happy Reading!!!!!!!!
This was an absolutely awesome read! I absolutely love Landon. He seems so void of feelings sometimes, but deep down you know they are there. As the book progresses you see bits and pieces start to come through and they are the pieces that I love the most because they show only for Willow.
Willow has secrets that she doesn't want shown. She is drawn to Landon, but ultimately doesn't want to get caught up with him because of the repercussions it could bring. These two are going to go through quite a rollercoaster together. I absolutely loved reading about these two. I love their journey together and I cannot wait to see what is to come in The Writer.
