USA TODAY bestselling author and Amazon Top 25 bestselling author, Addison Cain is best known for her dark romances, smoldering paranormal suspense, and twisted alien worlds. Her antiheroes are not always redeemable, her lead females stand fierce, and nothing is ever as it seems.
Deep and sometimes heart wrenching, her books are not for the faint of heart. But they are just right for those who enjoy unapologetic bad boys, aggressive alphas, and a hint of violence in a kiss.
Ok, so I know there are very few people that use GoodReads to look at Addison Cain, but it's the only place I have to vent so here goes...
Right, although her cult following on FB is ever-growing, and at first, I was a big fan... Addison has seriously lost my respect as an author. She went from this benevolent "domme" I could trust with these incredible stories advocating for women. Her work was political. It advocated for marginalised rights. Heck, I thought she was the most intense author who understood domestic and gender-based violence and was voicing all my frustrations. Here in her pages, I could find retribution for the women I knew who had become invisible, and although the journey was horrific, there was love at the end, there was retribution, and there was justice. Now, she's just a major bully with no relationship with her audience. I remember when we were anticipating a Christmas release one year, but you know Addison, she doesn't "do" release dates. They have to be a surprise to keep us on our toes, but she had the decency to tell us that, unfortunately, there was no new release that year. Then omega-gate happened, and now I just can't with her. This was just a bitch sesh with my keyboard, and for that, I'm sorry, but you know you can't go on to her FB and complain, or you unleash her followers. I want to love her, I want to read her work, I want to feel the way I first felt when I discovered what Clair was sacrificing or how Sigil mourned Que but right now, I think I want to finish the stories in my head to get closure and then move on. This is getting ridiculous and I am sad.
⤅ Roses are red, violets are blue, this series will never be finished too.
Cain has fallen off my radar in the last year or so, since I read Book 5 in this series and it was utterly crap, but then I saw that Book 6 was going to be out THIS MONTH. Having any sort of concrete information from her is novel. But...
Imagine my total lack of surprise to hear that this deadline has been cancelled.
For those who aren't in her Facebook group, she apparently plans instead to re-release the previous book in a new edition. On the one hand, the previous book was certainly awful. On the other hand, all this does is ensure that we have yet another series she'll likely never finish. Addison Cain's entire backlist at this point is the place where series go to die.
Also, I think it's rather disingenuous that nobody from her team contacted a Goodreads librarian to make sure this entry was updated. Until I edited it literally two minutes ago, the Goodreads blurb still said the book had been released last week, and 'Preorder this highly-anticipated book now!' (Yeah, it doesn't say that anymore).
This is the type of author you don't invest in. Although Alpha Claim is my favorite series the author takes away from it with her antics. It would have been nice to leave a simple update on her page about pushing back the released date. I had to join a couple of FB groups to get pointed in the right direction of any kind of news. I respect that authors have lives and personal things that might keep them away from pen and paper. The bs that she put out was like a novel and felt like a slap in the face to her readers. Sometimes less is more just say hey I'm taking a personal hiatus to reset my creative thinking.
I litterally never rate and write a review on a book that isn't out let a lone read; however, because of all the spiteful ratings and reviews for this book that none of these people have read, I am going to give a positive rating and provide my own little rant to justify it.
I understand that this auther is inconsistant, unresponsive, and can seem rudely dismissive in this era of extreme accessibility. It is frustrating when you have a somewhat consistant book releases from a series that is great (and in my opinion revelutionary to the niche genre of omegaverse and perhaps erotica/romance all together) and then all of a sudden you are left at on a cliff hanger for years with no explanation and no appreciation for your support. With that said, I don't think getting petty revenge by berating the author every possible way all the time is fair, especially on review for a book that may not even exist yet.
We must remember that first and formost authors are real people not machines or businesses meant to cater and serve us, they are creatives. We should be giving authors the same patience and understanding that we give other creatives like musical artists and painters. When they take years to produce and share their art we typically don't complain, well at least for painters not musicians, but the point is this is someones creative outlet and we should remember to be greatful that they are willing and have the courage to share it. Even though a book or series completion was promised to us we arent trully entitled to having it. We also need to remember that people go through shit. So much has happened in the last 3 years, we have no idea what is going on in this persons life and how they are dealing with it. So, berating and discouraging a person who has done nothing to you, but not release a promised book is ridiculous. Lastly, some reviewers and commentors are so demanding and rude, she might not be releasing any work because of that. Don't be vengefully discouraging. That's all.
Addison got the Goodreads team to delete my comment so I’m posting this again lol. Addison Cain has no consideration for her audience. BTBB was one of my favorite ABO novels - I even read it when she posted on Literotica.com, before she published it. However, I am no longer a fan for two reasons: her insane bullying of other authors (cough cough Zoey cough cough) and her consistent falling through on publishing books when she said that she would.
First of all - Addison is an unhinged individual. Lindsay Ellis published multiple videos covering Addison’s abuse and bullying of another ABO author. She lied in court. She committed perjury. She even reported and/or had her cult of followers report Lindsay Ellis’ YouTube channel to silence Lindsay. Addison is worse than the villains in her books; a woman who would try to take away another woman’s livelihood and source of income is not someone I can support.
Secondly - I used to be a member of her Facebook group. She said she had some kind of family or medical issue that stopped her from publishing this book on time. However, isn’t it convenient this excuse popped up after she has consistently fallen through on many of her release dates? And every time, her only other excuse is: “I don’t do release dates.” It’s not only inconsiderate but indicative of how she views her audience: passive paypigs that will throw money her way regardless.
Anyway, Addison Cain is a bully, and the release date issue is just the cherry on top of the sh*tsundae.
"Buckle up, babycakes, because Devoured is coming… all over your face… in December, God willing. Maybe January if my kitchen floods again or some other random challenge arises. I say this knocking on wood, because it’s been a very weird year. And not just for me. It seems like all of us are having really weird years.
Right now I’m doing my final-ish read through, massaging parts, taking stuff out, adding stuff in, doing the endless dance of ‘is this perfect?’. Insider secret, no author ever feels like it’s perfect, and this fact drives us slowly insane.
And here is also where I get to announce the title of the next book in the Alpha’s Claim series: Shattered. "
Considering that I've read NINE books by Addison Cain in the last week (while working a full time job) and not been bored for a second, and in fact enjoyed myself and found myself guessing and intrigued and fascinated but recieved NO CLOSURE and want to rip every one of my body hair off is saying something
Addison my love... I concede to your genius and your verbal prowess and your originality and your AUDACITY to write women with an actual personality and conviction, I urge, I BEG...that how about we complete a story before we start torturing mere mortals with it?
I know life's not fair and you revel in suffering but please
I'm countering all of the negative reviews here on a book that hasn't even been released yet to urge people to *calm down*. If you don't like that it isn't out yet, move on to something else in the meantime and stop with the negative criticism of an author's not-yet-published work simply because you feel entitled. If you're unhappy with it, do yourself a favour and write some fan fiction to satisfy your needs. Or read something else while you look forward to the eventual release of this book – there's an abundance of material out there to distract you.
Authors are people, too, and have things going on in their lives that may require projects being pushed forward. I want this 6th book in the series to come out just as much as everyone else, but let's have some compassion here.
Is this book out to read? I have enjoyed this series greatly and have been anticipating on reading this book Can someone give me a current update on how I can get a hold on the 6th book to Alphas claim series
