Ex USA cop and now private investigator Maggie Doyle and her partner Lenny, both from Whisper Island, Ireland, had been hired to accompany the Maine coon Quibbles to the final round in the competitions for Purrfect Paws cat food, because his owner was recovering from surgery and she was concerned about threatening emails she’d received regarding Quibbles. So, much as Maggie didn’t want to have anything to do with the huge cat, the job would pay the bills.

Yaaaas! We are back on Whisper Island with Maggie Doyle, and the only questions I have to ask? How many bodies will she find today!

Add in the devil cat Quibbles, and we are in for all kinds of fun and games.

When Maggie and her partner in (solving) crime Lenny are on the case, there is no end to the mayhem and mishaps that ensue. Lord, Lenny always makes me laugh out loud with his antics.

You will have a good ol' time trying to figure out whodunnit - I

Apocalypse Meow is the seventh book in the Movie Club Mysteries series by Zara Keane, featuring Maggie Doyle, former cop turned PI who now lives in Ireland on Whisper Island.

In Apocalypse Meow, Maggie is in need of money. She and Lenny, her partner, in the P.I. agency have the chance at a lucrative contract, but a run in with some strange lawn chairs, and the resulting nudity while on a video conference call means no contract, a complaint to the police and no other choices. This is a cozy mystery that is the cat’s meow! The cantankerous Maine coon Quibbles is in the finals of the contest that will select a cat to represent that company’s line of cat food. The event was going to be held at a posh hotel but disaster strikes and the whole group ends up at a run down flea bag motel. However, that’s not the worst of it as owners of cats start to turn up dead. There’s a raging storm outside so everyone has to stay together even tho there’s a

Maggie and Lenny are back with a story that pays homage to the "locked-room mystery" where all the suspects and victims are together in one room, and therefore the killer must be one of those in attendance. In Apocalypse Meow, Maggie and Lenny are escorting their favorite feline, Quibbles (who was featured in the previously book in the series), to a cat contest that comes with considerable fame and fortune. When everyone is forced to a new hotel, and one of owners turns up murdered, Lenny and Ma ...more

Apocalypse Meow is Zara Keane’s seventh installment in the Movie Club Mystery series. Written with the same quick wit, offbeat characters and superb plot twists, this is a welcome addition.

Maggie’s PI agency needs money, fast. She and Lenny set up a video conference with a law firm trying to land a contract. It all falls through, literally, thanks to faulty furniture and full frontal nudity (Lenny).

Maggie, Lenny, Liam and the rest of the gang from Movie Reel Investigations return in a new mystery featuring Maggie’s nemesis, Quibbles the cat. After failing to secure a lucrative law firm contract due to an hilarious incident involving a lawn chair and full frontal nudity, the partners are forced to accept a job chaperoning Quibbles in the Great Irish Purr Off. Although the contest is scheduled to take place in a luxury hotel, a stinky sewer pipe eruption forces a change of venue and the near ...more

Maggie and Lenny re back! Well, not exactly the way that they want to which is investigating PIs. Instead in Apocalypse Meow it is as an escort of a show cat Quibbles to an audition for a cat food commercial. This is the seventh in the Movie Club Mysteries by Zara Keane with all the humor, shenanigans, and quirky characters that I have come to love in this series. Oh, also a murder or two along the way so of course there is an investigation to be.

This is a fun read. No gore or graphic violence b

This is a quirky mystery filled with mishaps from the start. It starts with Maggie and Lenny, Private Investigators, on a webcam call from a group of lawyers wanting to hire them. Unfortunately, the lawn chairs they are seated in collapse, taking Lenny's pants with them exposing him to the group. Needless to say, they don't get hired and have to fall back into taking a job involving Quibbles, a show cat they have protected before. I absolutely love this series and was really craving more of it when I found out the latest was coming out tomorrow. I always know when Lenny's on the case with Movie Reel Investigations, laughs are guaranteed. In fact, the laughs started before the first chapter even ended, and it kept going from there. Maggie's usually good for some good scenes too. When they found themselves in a rundown hotel run by Maggie's cousin Angel, for some reason, I liked Angel immediately.

A charming cozy by Zara Keane! With no other jobs in sight, Maggie and Lenny are left with no other choice than to escort Quibbles the cat to the Great Irish Purr Off. Expecting a luxury hotel for the weekend with Maggie’s boyfriend and police Sargent Liam, they are very disappointed when they arrive to find the hotel evacuated and all the cat owners up in arms. Everyone has to move to a very rundown hotel in the middle of nowhere run by Maggie’s cousin Angel. On top of that, there is a hurrican ...more

Well, I enjoyed this book so much, I read it in one sitting! Very tired the next day but I recommend this next Movie Club Mysteries wholeheartedly.

The first chapter had me gasping and laughing at the same time. Lenny never fails to provide comic relief! In the middle if a storm, Maggie is stuck with some eccentric cat owners and their cats at a less than stellar hotel in order for the cats to participate in the last round if the Purr Perfect Contest. You never know what Lenny will do but it is a guarantee that it will be shaking your head kind of funny. This book is no different. I loved how this book takes place during a hurricane-type storm in a rundown hotel. Lots of references to Bates motel so you get the image right away. I love this Movie Club Mysteries series and book 7 is just as great at the ones that came before it. In this homage to Agatha Christie, P.I. partners Maggie and Lenny are trapped in a hotel with a bunch of cat show contestants (feline and their human companions) and have to figure out who the murderer is. Like the other books, I found myself enjoying the characters and the absurdity that follows Maggie’s life. The book is laugh-out-loud funny and full of charm. From the very first sentence, this is laugh out loud hilarious cat-astrophy of a cozy!! Maggie and Lenny are in the middle of a cat competition, but instead of a posh weekend they are in a run down excuse of a hotel during a bad storm. Power is out, the bodies are piling up, the action is non-stop, the suspects all have secrets, the felines are running amok. Will Maggie and Lenny be able to stop the killer before they all end up dead? Is there a copy-cat? Wonderful cozy in a wonderful series. Th ...more

Apocalypse Meow is full of disastrous occurrences and murder. Poor Lennie and Maggie are really tested in this very twisting mystery. Chair and wardrobe malfunctions do not lead to the corporate contract Maggie needed to keep her PI agency open. So she and Lenny are forced to accompany Quibbles the querulous cat to his final audition for Purrfect Paws cat food. They end up staying in a zero star hotel where the murders occur. Another fun cozy mystery with Maggie and Lenny. They are hired to protect Quibble, the cat, during a competition. But there is more going on than it seems. The hotel everyone was to stay at has a sewage problem and they are all forced to stay at a small, older hotel that is a converted train station. The storm knocks out the power and roads are impassible. Then one of the group dies and not from natural causes. Maggie and Lenny investigate but the bodies start to pile up. If you want a great read, I would recommend Apocalypse Meow (Movie Club Mysteries, #7). After Maggie and Lenny lose a potential client due to a "technical difficulty" they end up having to take Quibbles (the cat Maggie was hired to find in the last book) to a contest. There is no love lost between Maggie and Quibbles, but if it will help pay the bills... This is the newest read from Zara Keane and what more can you ask for when there is cats and of course in true form to this series a dead body. This book was a pleasure to read as per usual there are points where you just can’t help but laugh at the situation. Lenny’s dress sense might just be one of those. Murder & mayhem, quirky characters & their cats, drama - what else would you expect in a rundown hotel in the middle of a storm & power outage? Zara Keane blends wit with Agatha Christie suspense as she takes the Movie Reel Investigations team of Maggie & Lenny on their latest quest. I received the ARC for my honest review of this book. I enjoyed the writing it was an easy read. I enjoyed the new character Angel she was fun. I would have liked to have seen more character development of some of the other characters. The hotel descriptions was fun to read about. The plot was good, but I guessed who done it midway through. Maggie really wants to make her PI Agency a success but having Lenny as her partner sometimes brings laughs on its own. Will they be able to survive Lenny's newest escapade.

Desperate to move forward, Maggie accepts a case. Could this case be what brings the cat's meow to her agency or be the end to it all? I just love how Zara Keane is able to draw you into the story. The laughs are always best served by Lenny.
