"Hermoine," Harry took a deep breath and flipped the book over to see the back cover, "why is my name on this?"
"Like I said, someone is writing about us. The film we just saw was based on that book," Hermoine tapped the cover of the book on the top of the stack, "and it was incredibly accurate."
Harry passed the stack of books over to Ginny, holding on to the first one. He turned the title of the book over in his head, mumbling the words quietly to himself.
"Harry Potter....me...Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Philosopher's stone. Hermoine, this feels weird. Am I the narrator?"
When Hermoine and Draco uncover a familiar new film called "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" they learn that the wizarding world may not be as well hidden as they thought.
I am obsessed with this fic. A Dramione with flashbacks to the Hogwarts years which were different than canon with the plot of the Muggle World knowing about the canon Harry Potter books and movies, it was fantastic. And as I'm writing this review the people in front of me are watching Harry Potter on their laptop. It can't be a coincidence 😄
This is a unique Dramione in that it explores a world in which the books / movies exist, and the main plot revolves around Hermione needing to figure out who has sold their story to the masses. It's interesting, but it doesn't allow me to be immersed in the story. I'm constantly reminded this is a story about a story, and at one point, someone even tells Hermione and Draco what a Dramione fic is... so weird. And the ending was kind of lame to be honest.
At the start of this fic, Draco and Harmione are already in love and engaged. So, the romance we get is through flashbacks of their time at Hogwarts, explaining how the books got things wrong or left things out. The flashback chapters aren't very long, so it's difficult to actually feel Hermione and Draco fall in love. We get glimpses. Current day, they're so happy with little conflict, and it all just feels a little surface level. Not the best Dramione out there by far.
some vague spoilers interesting concept, not really what i expected. i thought the coolest part was how the "true events" differed from those in jk rowling's book. i do think the storyline of hermione trying to find out who it was, was all over the place. the hall of heroes was cool and the reveal of ron. loved a lot of the domestic fluff.
Let's say I was looking for this exact book without knowing I was looking for it. I always wondered if this actually happened, that Rita instead of Mayra, wrote about Harry's life and published it into the muggle world. Because, she actually would have done it.
This book was absolutely brilliant, to bring this possibility to life. Because I really think they do exist. And I would love to someday stumble upon them. But, it could also not be true. But how are you a reader if you don't think the worlds you read about might actually be real?
This fanfic is going to be right there with the Harry Potter series on my shelf, along with Manacled.
Loved this one! Definitely forgot I marked it in here but I loved the concept of how if Harry Potter was real how it would affect the people who are in the story. I loved the whole perspective of the truth vs the story. Also makes you think about what happens when you write about other people.
