Follows 20 youngsters through their busy day at nursery school. Preschoolers will savor the details of Norling's catalog of classroom and playground accessories, toys, and activities.
I LOVE this book. It is so rich with pictures, it is a different reading everytime we look at. Such a great preparation for preschool. I loved it so much after borrowing it from the library, I bought our own copy.
This book is filled with pictures of loads and loads of kids of all races and nations with similarly assorted teachers going through their kindergarten day. There isn't much text, just enough to illuminate the illustrations but there are so many stories that parent/child can tell each other from the pictures. This is the sort of book that encourages a child's imagination to expand from their everyday experiences. A lovely gift book for any under 5 year old.
Great book for kids heading off to school for the first time. Sweet but not saccharine-sweet. Shows kids of all cultures waking up, heading to school by various modes of transportation, choosing different games, eating different things. I love the page with text that says "Uh-oh, someone's not happy" and shows kids tugging on the same doll, a boy breaking his necklace accidentally, a girl peeing on the floor, a boy keeping a toy from another. Henry pores over it--possibly learning how to be naughty, but we hope not. Very cute book.
My preschool daughter loved looking at the pictures in the book. It is a great book to start conversation with a child that is in preschool and to learn about the things she is experiencing at school.
book may be helpful for children starting preschool. describes details of the school day from getting ready at home to bedtime. appealing illustrations though at times busy.
If you have children who are just starting out in school, this is a great book to pick up! It has a comprehensive list of what to expect, names of items to expect, and best of all, the types of friends you can be sure to make.
With simple water color illustrations and diverse characters popping up on different pages of the story, this book really did feel like it was taking me through my own first grade again. However, this book is focused on places like daycare, preK, and kindergarten, making it a book that can fit in a variety of settings.
I liked how each page had a focus. There was a page about the process of saying goodbye to the care taker who is dropping them off. Then the next was about the items that are available to use.
For any new teacher or parent, this book is a must have. I imagine that it could be great for new English learners since the pictures and vocabulary is large and easily pointable.
