ගම්බද දිලිඳු ආමේනියානු දරුවකු වන ගීකෝර් නාගරික නිවසක මෙහෙකරුවකු ලෙසට පෑමින විඳි කටුක අද්දෑකීම් පිලිඹඳව රචිත ශෝකාන්තයකි. ඔහුගේ පියා හම්බෝ පවුලේ ජීවන බර අඩුකිරීමේ පරමාර්ථයෙන් 11 හෑවිරිදි වෑඩිමල් දරුවා නගරයේ නිවසක වෑටුප් රහිතව මෙහෙකාර සේවයට බාරදීමට එකඟ වූයේය.

ගම්බද දරුවා හට නගරයේ චාරිත්‍ර වාරිත්‍ර, වෑදගතුන් හට ගරු සෑලකිලි දෑක්වීම තේරුම් ගෑනීමේ අපහසුව නිසා අනේක පීඩාවන්, ගෑරහීම් වලට ලක්වී පසුව රෝගාතුරවී ශීත කාලයේදී දුක් විඳ මරමුවට පත්වුයේය.

ලමා ශ්‍රමිකයන් ආමේනියාවට පමනක් සීමා නොවේ, එය ලන්කාව ඈතුලුව ආසියානු රටවලද අද දක්වා යොදාගෑනෙන නීති විරෝධී සේවයකි. 1960-1970 දශක වල ලන්කාවේ බොහෝ නාගරික නිවෙස්වල සේවයට ගෑනීම බහුලව පෑවතුනේය, එය ශ්‍රි ලන්කා සාහිත්යයට සහ සන්ගීතයට ද එකතුවූයේය. පසුව ලමා ශ්‍රමිකයන් තබා ගෑනීම නීති විරෝධී කරුනක් බවට පත්වූයේය. ඊලාම් යුද්දයට කොටි සන්විධානය බලෙන් ලමා සොල්දාදුවන් බඳවා ගන්නා ලද්දේය.

වෑඩ කරලා ඉවර නොමෑත දෙවියනේ, කුමටද මා දුප්පතිවී ඉපදුනේ.
ඩෙස්මන් ද සිල්වා විසින් ගයන ලද:
ඈත්ත කතාවක් සිදුවුනි කොළඹ පුරවරේ, බෝයි වෑඩට ආ කොලුවකු ගෑන කතන්දරේ
ලමා ශ්‍රමිකයන් පිලිඹ්ද ගීතවේ

මෙවෑනි සාහිත්ය පරිශීලනය කරමින් නාගරික ප්‍රජාවේ සමහරුන් කඳුලු සලමින් ශෝක වූවත් තම නිවසේ සිටින මෙහෙකාර කොලුවාගේ නොදෑනුවත් කම් වලට කිසිඳු අනුකම්පාවකින් තොරව දඬුවම් පෑමිනවීමට මෑලි නොවෙති.

මෙය වසර 2000 කටත් වඩා බුදු දහම අදහමින් ද ධර්මයට සවන් දෙමින් ද සිටිමින් නමුත් එකම බන පදයක් වත් පිලි නොපදින සමාජයක යතාර්තයක් ද වියහෑක.

Gikor is such a beautiful Armanian story translated to sinhala. It's very short and a quick read but very emotional. The story is about a little boy who had to come to the town and work in order to help his family. The storyis written so beautifully and the translation is flawless too. It's cleverly written to bring the reader into the story and make them part of the story.

Kemalettin Tuğcu kitaplarını çağrıştıran yürek burkan bir hikâyeydi. :(
Küçük Kikor'a çok üzüldüm, iyi bir hayat yaşamasını isterdim..

Just like most Armenian literary works from the 19th and 20th centuries, Գիքոր captures the grim and miserable lifestyle of the average villager. Tumanyan rawly illustrates the hardships of life without mitigating the truth. It is a story that is heavy on the heart, but this is necessary for serving its purpose of informing us about the living premises of the past.
