Nikita is an introvert at heart who loves to procrastinate. She spends most of her time reading or watching crimes shows because she hates to leave the house unless it's absolutely necessary.
Her love of Dark Romance really began when she moved to the US and fell in love with reading all over again. She had no plans on ever writing a book or publishing but Cole was very persistent and now she can't think of doing anything else!
She loves writing as much as she loves reading and can't wait to bring you more dark romance reads! The journey so far has been a dream thanks to all her amazing readers and she can't thank them enough for taking a chance on her books and loving those characters as much as she does!
Holy heck, I feel drunk without even the consumption of alcohol, this book with the too and fro, the twists and turns, the whip lash of epic proportions, the angst, god these two did my head in but like a glutton for punishment for the life of me I couldn’t stop reading!
And then one character took me by surprise at the end, I kind of had my doubts about this person but didn’t give it another thought, so when I’m tumbling down that mother fucker of a cliffy I knew I should’ve gone with my gut!
Missing research and facts. Do not read the review it contains spoiler alerts. One star book
Many things written by the author are so wrong; please do some research. It is the reason for one star. I hope the author reads the reviews, so maybe the following books are more accurately written. Readers want to read a book that is somehow closer to reality, although the reader is well aware that the plot and background story are all imaginative. The book contains scenes that are a little disturbing and concerning. I concluded that the author believes dark themes imply tragedy after tragedy and all different tragic situations. It is a mixed salad tragedy; the plot is relinquished between all the tragedy that happens to the main female character. It is ludicrous. Let's start with the wrongdoing. I found the female lead to not be wise in books one and two. Winter is a billionaire and supposedly at the head of a powerful company. She does not take advantage of it; loyal staff, bodyguards, and PI’s collecting dirt on people, and background checks of all the team close to her, newly hired security organization backgrounds from trusted members should constantly be working. Although people are quickly brought, at least among all of them, are some loyal ones, not all are willing to go rogue. Shareholders are invested in the company; not all are willing to lose money and prestige. Let's not forget the father was an influential person at the head of the company. I am also surprised that the father did not have loyal bodyguards, security companies working for his company, and, therefore, for the daughter, another bizarre fact. I am waiting for the current CEO of her company to go against her being the bad guy, maybe in book three; after all, it is the trend of the author. Winter does not fight back, but she allows herself to be open season for the bad guys. She trusts people that approach her because she seeks attention. No billionaire is easy to approach, and it is ingrained in them not to trust people; again, open season, it is ridiculous how the storyline is written. The main character is an adult (not a teenager)with a long history of a bad relationship with her mother. Still, she allows herself to be manipulated and threatened by her mother, forcing her to live with her husband. All the many occasion that her mother's husband approached her, not once did she records the conversation or videotapes it. However, finally, the lead female got some sense and went to live on her own it took books one and two before it happened and obviously after the reoccurring tragedies. Winter should think about security cameras around her new place. Another ludicrous error from the author; the lead female was drowning in freezing water and stabbed, losing blood, rescued, and not hospitalized, but after a few hours, she is brutalized by Mason. First, she would be in a severe state of hypothermia and hypovolemia. The combination of these two conditions is severe shock, leading to a high risk of cardiac arrest and death. Instead, after a few hours of sleep, she is up and destroying her father's office and then again brutalized by Mason. Then she commits suicide, found by her friend Grayson (Mason’s brother) unconscious; she opens her eyes to say to take care of Mason, for real. Finally hospitalized, but the author thinks it is ok to write that Winter can get up from bed and walk, actually run in a hospital gown, from all her friends. By the way, all her best friends stayed in the same cabin, allowing her to be brutalized by Mason. All of this happens within 24 hours of a day, meaning drowning and suicide attempt. However, they all take her private plane, and guess what she goes back to her mother; then, while she is out on the beach, she suddenly becomes a best friend with a female who is a stranger. Again, absurd. I have to admit I had to skim paragraphs in the book because they were repeated scenes with Mason’s point of view (POV). It was unnecessary. Let's move forward with Winter being kidnapped and rescued by a stranger who says he is her brother. Then after a few hours of knowing her brother, she wants him to take over the company. When the reader believes that it will probably get better, then something ridiculous happens; for example, Winter is constantly running away to get some time alone, but because she wants time alone, she is exposed to dangerous conditions. I expected that Anthony was the bad guy, nothing new, as mentioned before; it is the author's habit to write tragedy after tragedy, and people that Winter blindly trust to turn her over. Well, there are three reasons that the author will continue to write either Anthony works for Alister (Mason's father), he wants to make a deal with Winter, or he seeks revenge against her brother. I also suspect that Winter's father is alive. I hope in book three, Winter becomes wiser, and all the characters start scheming against the bad guy. Mason should suffer more to gain Winter's trust and love. I will be waiting for book 3 hope not too long, like 6 months or a year.
The stretched out saga continues. I wonder if authors make a lot more watering down their stories so they can pour out a trilogy. This is a big better with the dual POV’s — the first book the MMcs pov was almost a verbatim repeat of the fmcs pov. The long internal monologue of the first chapter was silly… she doesn’t know how to swim and is struggling to survive yet she ponders long winded trivialities. In a way this reminds me of E.L. Beth’s books.. but this author gets bogged down in the mundane. This is a good story but the execution needs some finesse and trimmed down to One book around 350 pages. I skimmed even more this time. I want a book that makes Me savor and even horde each word.. a book I Don’t want to finish because it’s that good…. A book that’s good to The last page. This ain’t that. I’m giving up on this, not interested enough to Continue with book 3.
Jeezus this story just keeps getting better and better! Mason and Winter have so many obstacles in the way I’m glad to see Winter finds her backbone in this one and Mason might have finally opened his eyes but it might be too late and that ending!!! I devoured this book in one sitting I was furiously turning page after page I couldn’t look away the twists and turns the angst the love hate between Mason and Winter and the steam!!! And that jaw dropping ending I still can’t believe it! I need the next book now !
Winter is the cliche damsel in distress that always happens to walk into danger. Mason is the half mad man in love and denial. This book is so satisfying because some of the past lies come to the light. Winter rightfully doesn't trust anyone in her life and went from being a sensitive good person to a cynical girl with no desire to live in the hellhole of her life, this is mostly due to Mason. I'm not really into Mafia books but this one gets a pass. ["br"]>
And just when you think this love story is going to turn sweet, nope. This hero still has bones to pick with the heroine. Forgiveness is a long time coming. This author delivers on heroes who are complete alpha jerks and over-the-top jealous who push their heroines to a breaking point though they, unfortunately, turn soft in the end. The heroines also are spunky and vulnerable inordinately drowning in their trauma (almost understandably). Great side character support system and other woman and other man drama influence. Excellent spice.
I can't give higher than 4 stars for this author's works, at least for now, because her writing reads so immaturely even while the plots are so interesting, so good. Words choices are very junior; writing style, very linear -- this then this, and once this, then that. Character trauma can be repetitive, to the point of rehashing, even when their plight is understood. Also, why must the characters speak to the reader, going from first to second person?
Despite those, I enjoyed this storyline immensely. I am hooked. Easy, compelling read with lots of twists. Looking forward to book 3.
I read this quick as a comet. I really like Nikita's writing style. This book is very angsty but it's easy to get through. Mason and Winter have a love-hate relationship. Mason knows he can't live without Winter and vice versa. There's a lot of bad blood between the two but Mason is not about to let Winter go and he'll play dirty if he has to . I find Winter a little irrational, the amount of times she puts herself in danger lol. It's good fun and I can't wait for the conclusion, book 3! One of my favourites for sure.["br"]>
It's been so long since it came out that I've forgotten most of the details of book 1. But still, I feel there might be some discrepancies between book 1 and 2. This is book 2 of Mason and Winter's story.
This story dragged on with Winter breaking down and crying like a rockstar every time something went wrong which was pretty much every other chapter! This girl has gone through so much and it's a wonder that she's still going, suicide attempts aside. Although she's definitely earned the right to cry, it just became tedious reading about her circular thought process which consists of self-pity rather than self help. It was just more woe-is-me. Winter gets back on her feet with some help from Mason and her friends only to be knocked down again and rinse and repeat for pretty much the entire story.
Mason continues to be the perfect alphahole. He says and does some pretty nasty things to Winter. I loved that he was such an unapologetic psycho. But towards the end of the story he started to become a the dreaded simping sap.
So the last 1/4 of this story is when we finally pull out of the circular events and the plot actually moves forward. Winter gets kidnapped by Russians and saved by her newfound stepbrother, Hunter who is in cahoots with her random new friend Adelaide, a Russian mafia princess who's disappeared. In yet another clash with Mason, Winter jets off to her father's office in London where she discovers a secret office housing her father's investigation into mason's dad Alistair and her mom, Emilia. Plot twist, they both wanted to kill their spouses I assume to combine their assets. It also turns out that Emilia isn't Winter's bio mom who was a surrogate that Emilia killed off. Emilia never wanted kids and it's no wonder she treats Winter so horribly.
While in London, Winter is approached by A*** and Mel who randomly admit to setting her up to look like she cheated on Mason in exchange for $1M each paid by no other that Alistair.
Winter reveals all this to Mason and gets him sobbing just like her. Not sure why he chose to believe her this time though. As Winter runs away for the billionth time, she's kidnapped once again, this time by Antonio.....I suspected from book 1.
It ends on a cliffhanger there.

WHAT?!?? IM SORRY… WHAT THE FUCK?!?! I CAN’T I HAVE NO WORDS Did I throw my kindle and pace around my room and then my garden like a headless chicken? yes. yes I fucking did. i honestly feel as if I’ve lost my mind. This book was absolutely bloody incredible. It is dark in every sense of the word. My heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest. Like omfg I can’t get over the bloody plot twists. Winter quite literally goes through hell in this series, I mean it is just soul crushing the amount of awful things she goes through. I can’t put into words how heartbreaking it was reading about how she felt about herself… I can understand why she did what she did and I hate how her best friends reacted to it. They could see how badly she was struggling and they instantly made her feel guilty as if she didn’t deserve to feel the way she did. I don’t like her friends at all, they’re all so quick to believe the bs that gets said about Winter, which clearly shows that they have no trust for her and clearly they don’t know her well at all. If they were really her friends then they’d know that she’d never do the things that have been posted and said about her. Mason, I literally want to knock him out and snog his face off at the same time… his mood swings give me bloody whiplash. I mean ffs man MAKE YOUR BLOODY MIND UP. He drives me insane with the constant hot and cold behaviour and I mean ffs man the stuff he does to Winter is beyond cruel. Like he is next level disgusting with his bullying tactics, he goes for her throat EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON WINTER’S MUM AND MASON’S DAD…. Lord give me STRENGTH. Those 2 people do not deserve to have children. They are SCUM. I mean they are quite literally the worst parents on the bloody planet. No wonder Winter and Mason are so messed up. If those 2 are their role models flipping heck I’m surprised they’re not even more deranged. Winters dad… oh my life man just thinking about him makes me tear up, how could he live holding onto all of those secrets??? Why didn’t he go to the police or do something about it????? Why didn’t he tell Winter?!?! Oh my god I have so many questions!!!! And the stalker?!? THE BLOODY STALKER. Oh my god that man is MESSED TF UP. Seriously he’s a complete PSYCHO in every sense of the word. Like what he did to Martin was INSANE. How on earth could you do that to a person?!? Makes me break out in goosebumps and shivers just thinking about it. WHEN THE TRUTH CAME OUT ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED IN LONDON… oh my good god I threw my kindle. I couldn’t bloody believe it!!!! They was supposed to be Winter’s friends, how could they do that to her?!?! Absolutely disgusting!!!!! All of the messed up things that happened in this story have shook me to the core. I’m truly baffled by the cruelty of Mason’s dad, Winter’s mum, Winter’s so called friends, Mason’s vile bullying & mood swings and the flipping insane Stalker… That ending… I KNEW IT. I FLIPPING KNEW IT. I need book 3 RIGHT NOW. I NEED ANSWERS.
Ps: I love that Adelaide was in this story, I’ve missed her and the boys 🥺 if you haven’t read Poisoned Throne by Nikita, GO AND READ IT RN!!!!!! Pps: sorry for the long review lol, I had a lot to say 🤣
Okay why are the characters always yelling at each other? There is an exclamation mark every other sentence. How did a girl who just tried to kill herself just straight walk out of a hospital in a gown? And then immediately have rough sex after? Why did a billionaire CEO live with her abusive Mom and step family when she could have moved anytime? This story could have been so good with some more detailed writing.
Things that bothered me...she met her brother and within one very brief conversation she is asking him not to leave her. She randomly breaks down in seconds and then is fine 2 seconds later. The sex scenes are unrealistic and make no sense. People just don't act this way.
While I disliked the first book I was still intrigued enough to want to read the second book. I only have to say.. Everyone has the emotional range of a teaspoon! Also, is the h superhuman that she can heal from getting stabbed, almost dying twice, beaten and getting tortured and then just in a couple of hours she's completely fine? It honestly started out great, awesome angst but then got so bad that I'm questioning whether the author just wanted to get over finishing writing this book? It felt like how I wrote my assignments - awesome start but abysmal ending.
I’m at the point where I don’t care if she lives are die , the writing is very juvenile, and at some points over the top , and because I don’t care about the characters, don’t care how the story ends, won’t be reading the next book
This book is bad. Very very bad. Probably the worst book I have ever read. First of all, the writing style is ludicrous. No hate to Nikita, considering this series is the only one I have read from her, so hopefully, it might not be her only writing style. In all honesty, I do not think I will be giving any of the others a try.
An example: "That home-wrecker Amber!" he snaps. "Go see what your bitch wants! She's probably already up in your room," he says, and I groan. I forgot all about her existence these past few days.
"It's not like we're together but I've never told her to back off since I was just using her to piss Winter off. Ah, shit! She's in my room? I hope Winter doesn't wake up and see her there because that'll be another fight between us. Fuck my life!" Like... what in the 13 year old teenage diary is this? This is only a snippet. There's worse because the whole book is written in this format. Somewhat in the present tense, but extremely poorly.
Now to the story. It was bad, oh it was so bad. I'm genuinely concerned about the amount of good reviews this has. He raped her multiple times, made her go through severe mental distress, continuously humiliated her in front of the entire school, and she took all of it. Bear in mind, it was like everybody was after her, so she was dealing with actual problems and threats to her life but he didn't care how hurt or close to death she was.
The cycle was this: He would say something horrible to her, she'll call him an a**hole and say she hates him, he'll pull her closer or choke her against the wall and she'll start thinking about all he's done and how she still loves him deep down. Then he'll see her reaction to him, call her a whole, slut and a b*tch and she'll think to herself "he actually hates me". He'll then leave her crying. She'll go get tortured by someone else and after, he'll appear out of nowhere and tell her she doesn't deserve to be happy, cuss her out some more, she'll think to herself how he's no longer the guy she loved but she still kinda likes him. He'll see her reaction and they'll do something sexual with him calling her a whore, a slut and a b*tch throughout and looking at her with "his eyes filled with hatred" (if I had a penny for everytime that exact phrase was used, I'd be celebrating even in this economy). He'd leave her crying and she'll think to herself "wow, I didn't know he hated me this much".
I. Kid. You. Not. This cycle repeats itself non- stop throughout the entire two books, it's insufferable. Every 5 or so chapters, he'd go too far with his physical and mental abuse and she'd end up requiring serious medical assistance. He'd suddenly get possessive and take her to the hospital/ arrange medical assistance, all the while saying to himself "well she deserved it! But why am I so bothered by her being in the hospital? Whatever! I'll think about that later. Maybe I need to be a little less harsh, but no! She deserves it. She broke us." 1. Yes, that really is the structure in which the story is written. 2. Almost every single one of Mason's POV is exactly like this. No variation. You need to ask yourself why we are still getting it if he says the exact same thing each time 3. You would think after hurting her to the point of her ending up in a hospital, he'd be kinder. But no She'd wake up and call him an a**hole for putting her in the hospital and he'd lose it and start calling her a b*tch and a whore and ... you guessed it! a slut. Then he'd leave the hospital with her crying and thinking to herself, "wow, he hates me that much?"
Then she'd swear to hate him forever and this oath would last until her next interaction with him, which will most likely be in the same chapter. It's the same thing over and over again it is actually painful. I persevered because I wanted him to pay in the end. I wanted him to suffer for all he did, but at this rate it seems he never would because she always takes him back. She has absolutely ZERO backbone.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Her so called friends are there a lot of the time this happens and they do nothing. Her male 'friends even assist Mason in performing this abuse. When she committed suicide because he basically drove her to it, her own 'best friend' started slapping and punching her because she was mad. Mason then goes on to say how he wishes she actually killed herself when she attempted. Of course she was hurt, and she was mad. How long did that last? All of 1 chapter. Her so called best friend says the same to her later on in the book.
It simply makes NO SENSE There is so much more to say but I'll leave it at that. Read at your own discretion.
Mason and Winter have such a love/hate relationship and it seems like everyone is out to keep them apart.
I felt so much for Winter because she is going through so much in this book to the point where she wants to just give up on life. Someone is out to get her and she doesn't know who or why. Mason is making her life hell for something he thinks she did to him, but it's all down to miscommunication.
There is just so much going on and this book will have you freaking flipping pages like your life depended on it. I inhaled this book as fast as I could possibly could. I absolutely love the characters and for as much as I could scream and shout at Winter for always breaking for Mason, I could see how much she loved him and why she would always run back to him up until she had had enough and she finally put her foot down.
There were so many twists and turns that left my jaw dropping. I AM SO IN AWW with that CLIFFY!

**Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**
Gahhh this book is everything I expected and more!! Mason continues to be an epic douche but when he pushes Winter way too far she can not take it anymore. Mason finally figures out that he's not the only one hunting down Winter. He realizes that he needs to protect her weather she wants him to. As much as Mason hurts her she can not keep her feelings aside. For once Mason isn't the source of Winters misery but she assumed it was his doing, she fly's back to London to see her fathers grave to only have shock after shock poured on her. Can Mason find her in time before his worse nightmares become reality? I can not wait for the last book!!!!!!
Wowzer, this book!!! So intense for the get go. I read it in less then 24 hours. I couldn't put it down. We pick up straight from book 1 and I was eager to find out what happened to Winter. Tension between the two characters and the push and pull of them made me gaga in a good way. Mason, oh Mason, this man will slay me. He's so dark, domineering and hot. Poor Winter gets put through the ringer in this book and still manages to keep going. The ending had me shocked, I need book 3 stat!! Triggers throughout but yep here for them all
Both book one and book two had the most unrealistic dialogue I have ever read. The storyline is interesting enough but the constant immaturity - and I’m not talking high school/youth immaturity - made this book so frustrating to finish.
Spoilers ahead: Just because I feel like complaining about it: it drove me up the wall that the main character constantly talked about how she was sooo busy. Busy with school, busy with her lab, busy with CEO-ing, busy busy busy. But we literally never see her do anything. She’ll say in one sentence that she’s so busy that she can’t find time to breath, then in the next sentence drop out of classes because she never shows up AND drop out of her CEO responsibilities since she also never showed up… then say she’s a bad friend because she never hangs out with them and say she wishes she’d go to the lab more because she hasn’t been in weeks. So I’m confused? If you’re too busy to do literally any of that, but you haven’t been doing any of it so far, what are you so busy with?
I’m not sure if this author usually writes as bad as these two books have proven to be, but I will not continue with them. Wow.
Every other statement made by the characters end with!!! on and on. So everyone was always screaming at each other! To say the fmc was a doormat is putting it way to mildly. Plus at least half of the book was internal dialogue that rehashed the same thoughts (anyone thinking filler?) over and over. Such adolescent writing too. This surprised because I’ve enjoyed the author’s other books. There is a thin thread of a storyline that interests me but not sure it’s enough to read the next book. If you like all that I’ve just said then this book will be for you.
This is Oh very dark intense read that is continued it's a huge cliff hanger and the story had anxiety and heart pounding for you book as this story it's your heart with so many questions to you Marcus green that makes sense and cry This is a very That will grab you by the heart
Soooo much inner monologue that’s very repetitive and just boring. Not as good as the first book sadly this is a total filler book with some predictable twists.
Oh my god! I feel like I've been waiting for this book forever and it did not disappoint it was truly amazing and I absolutely loved it. It had me in a rollercoaster of emotions. So much you're finding out but there's still so many questions at the same time. This was truly worth the wait.
To be advise This book is dealing with: - Attemped Suicide - Noncon/Dubcan - Second Chances - Bullying - Stalker
So the book picks up right after Brutal King where Winter falls into the ice, she immediately get saved and she ends up having a break down after that. Thinking this is the right decision she admit to the cheating thinking that's what mason wants to hear even though she herself knows it's not the truth. And in a moment of anger he takes her doesn't care that she is injured basically looses himself in the moment and forces himself on her. He then walks away after he realizes what he was doing. Wanting for all the pain to stop and thinking that this should help Mason move on and heal, Winter decides to commit suicide by swallowing a bunch of sleeping pills and slitting her wrists. Grayson is the one who ends up finding her and almost has a break down of what has happened. Winter is taken to the hospital. While everyone's in the waiting room, Grayson tells Mason that if anything happens to her if she doesn't make it through then he will never forgive him because he told Mason multiple times that he was going to far in his revenge against her. When Mason comes to the realization that he almost loses Winter, he basically does a 180. They still have kind of a hate/ love relationship but he starts to put past what happened and wants to be with her no matter what. And tries to do better. We find out that motorcycle dude is Winters secret brother that no one knew about except for they're dad. My favorite part was when after Winter gets kidnapped that's when the brother decides to make he's official appearance by saving her. He takes her to his cabin in Oregon and then the guys find her with him and it's like a whole showdown almost. My favorite part was this "I should still slap your ass for your disobedience!” he growls. “Okay, no brother wants to hear their sister’s boyfriend talking about kinky sex,” Hunter says. I like my ass up so much at that part cause it was hilarious. Just when we think things are going okay between Mason and winter, A majors storm decides to hit. The video that Mason made where it look like she was with all 5 of the guys somehow got leaked. Her best friends went and started Accusing her not being a good friend. Her best friend Riley decides to attack her and even telling her she should have killed herself when she tried to. Realizing What Riley said she back away from Winter and makes a run for it taking the plane to London to escape all of it and to visit her dad's grave. While at her dad's grave, her 2 friends that went missing in the 1st book decided to show back up and Archie tells her that they were paid to drug her and make it look like they were having sex by Mason's father. Realizing what she's being told she tells him that they're actions Has seriously ruined her life and his almost killed her because of their lives Archie seems to be sympathetic for the party played in bed also makes a point that if mason really loves her he would not have a doubt her way he did. Winter leaves the cemetery, going back to the hotel and breaks down crying in the shower mason appears and he is begging her that it wasn't him who released the video. That he loves her, he wants to be with her no matter what and when she can't take it she goes to her room and hands him the paper concerning what happened to his mother she found in her father secret room in his office. She then leave the hotel wanting to go for a drive thinking that that should be okay. She ends up getting run off the road and then wakes up in a cell. The stalker finally appears And the only hint we get is "Cara". And of course it ends on a cliffhanger right after. I can not wait for book 3 to come out.

THE REVIEW FOR THE BOOK: Bleeding Crowne GENRE: Dark Romance AUTHOR: Nikita TROPE: dark romance, enemies to lovers, second chance, suspense TYPE: Ravenwood Elites #2 MY RATING: 4.5 Stars POV: Dual Fist Person
Trigger Warnings – This book is basically one giant trigger warning. When it comes to dark romance, I feel as though there is a scale. A lot of books categorize themselves as “dark romance” but I would say that this book actually fits the bill. On the darkness scale, I would say this book lands pretty close to pitch black. If you’ve read the first book in the series then you’re not new to Nikita’s writing style. Honestly, if you’ve read the book This Love Hurts by Nikita and remember the scene with the steak, then you won’t be shocked by anything in this story. There is non-consensual, bullying, beating, abuse, suicide attempts, murder, attempted murder, knife play, blood play, humiliation, breeding kink and oh so much more.
Book one of the series for me was such an emotional roller coaster. Honestly, the entire book was Mason enacting revenge on Winter for how he thinks she wronged him. He acts out in anger with pure vengeance in mind and doesn’t once stop to think of the consequences. Book two of the series picks up exactly where book one left off. Winter is at the cabin and is trying to get away from Mason and his abuse. She goes for a walk in the woods and is attacked. Mason, the guys and her friends work to rescue her and everything just get’s so much worse from there. In the beginning, Nikita prefaces the story by saying, “Remember that things get bad before they get good.”
I would say the fist 20-30% of the book was the hardest for me to read. I’m not going to give away what happens throughout the book because I think readers need to see for themselves. What I can say is that we reach a breaking point for Winter. There is a point where the abuse becomes too much for her. Nikita does a really remarkable job of conveying how Winter is experiencing depression and suicidal thoughts. I found myself crying and really wishing that Winter could get some relief. For Mason, he reaches a point in his journey where he finally see’s that if he doesn’t stop what he’s doing to Winter then this is the end. I don’t think he considers consequences when it comes to Winter. He just wants her to feel some pain to distract himself from the pain he feels inside about loosing his soul mate. After around the 30% mark we do get a reprieve when it comes to Mason abusing Winter. This is the turning point of the series.
I was a harsh critique of the first book when it came to plot points and editing. I don’t know what Nikita did with this second book but it was such a good improvement in my opinion. Towards the end some of the dialogue was a bit long winded and it felt like so many new plot points were being added into the story. Overall, I don’t think that it took away from the quality of the book. I thought the author did a really good job of building up to the third book in the series. I was really happy reading this story and read it in a single sitting. Beginning to end. Loved it.
This book does end on a cliffhanger. I can’t wait for book three to come out. I hope we don’t have to wait as long as book two but I’m a loyal fan so I’ll read it no matter what.
Book two picks right up where book one left off and Nikita doesn’t disappoint
Our heroine Winter is an emotional wreck, the turmoil she is feeling, barely keeping her head above water, with everything she is trying to deal with personally and professionally is taking its toll, to the point she can’t deal with the pain and humiliation anymore, she feels like a failure but there are those that won’t let her take the easy way out.
Our anti-hero Mason is doing anything and everything with in his power to cause Winter unimaginable pain how he sees fit without consequence, yet he finds himself conflicted of his feelings for her, one’s she does reciprocate, but there relationship is toxic and there friends Grayson, Royce, Nate, Avery, Riley and Luna have had enough.
Winter thinks she’s alone but she’s not, she wants to rely on her friends, but doesn’t want them involved in what’s going on in her life, even when she has to contend with a stalker, her mother Emilia and her step-father Alistair, that alone has her on the precipice in terms of her health and wellbeing, throw in threats, scandals, bullying and hounding paparazzi and you’ve got more than a trifecta.
We also get to see another side of Winter, when she lets loose, she’s happy, funny and carefree, in the process of her self-loathing and self-wallowing she makes a new friend, which inadvertently leads her to discover another side of her friend that she knew nothing about.
It all comes to ahead finally when secrets and lies are exposed and truths are revealed leaving our heroine, anti-hero, family and friends in places where they do not want to be, and when declarations of love are made, and not reciprocated, the pain becoming all too real for our anti-hero, our stalker is revealed, and there is a lot more at stake than what anyone realised.
There are triggers so please be aware. This book has it all alpha dominant, controlling, possessive man, one woman who gives as good as she gets, dark romance, murder, madness, mayhem, revenge, bullying, vengeance, violence, adrenaline seeking suspense, friendship, loyalty, twists, turns, truths and betrayals.
This story is told from different POV, it will take you on a wild ride, having you turning page after page. This book had me from beginning to end. This author definitely knows how to write and I’ll be coming back for more.
And those s*x scenes were steamy, it had all the angry angst, hate, pain, pleasure and passion one would expect when you love to hate and hate to love on a man who is anything but.
Winter belongs to Mason, she is only denying the inevitable, even though she has admitted her feelings in the heat of the moment, his protectiveness and possessiveness, his need for control and dominance, it’s what binds them, it was off the charts and had all of the feels.
And now we await with anticipation the third and final book in the series Broken Empire.
Intense love turns to brutal betrayal. Misunderstandings and miscommunications become the breeding ground for spiteful words, emotional turmoil and rage-induced acts of aggression. Add to that, outsiders w/nefarious intent also trying to tear them apart. Will the Ravenwood Elites find a way to set their world back on its axis or will they continue to destroy themselves and be lost to each other forever?
Nikita transforms her readers into voyeurs, yet again, in Bleeding Crowne.
Being told in dual POV was imperative in this series, because the reader NEEDS to witness Mason's mindset. Otherwise, you'd see no redeeming qualities or hope for him or them, as a couple. He spews the most vicious, hateful words and commits atrocious acts of revenge against Winter for, what he believes to be, her betrayal and the catalyst for their breakup.
Winter struggles with depression, extreme anxiety and, as of late, lack of trust. For fear of being a burden to those closest to her, no one in her inner circle knows all the details or the full scope of what she is/has been dealing with. Hint: it's not just Mason who's after her. She has a backbone made of steel, is sassy and willful, resilient and somehow maintains her sense of self and dignity even while her world closes in around her in the most monstrous of ways. Winter just wants to survive Mason and everyone else with insidious motives that have her set in their sites.
I wanted to "Hulk-Smash" through the pages and throat punch Mason, smack his friends upside their heads and just hug poor Winter for days SO many times. Tears were spilled, I was also raging mad and was completely horrified at just how far Mason lost the plot and how he justified his heinous actions and the pain he inflicted on Winter.
If these two learn one thing from their situation, it had better be the importance of full disclosure and communication. I kept wanting to scream at them to just talk about that fateful night. But, if they did, we wouldn't be on the edge of our seats and suffering from anxiety attacks.
I can feel the chaos coming in book #3 and it's palpable! Biting my nails here, Nikita! Please, please hurry 😉!
