The Good Girl

Rate this book
Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Nothing can describe the town of Silvercrest better.

This seemingly charming, sleepy town is ruled by The Society. An elite organization swimming in Old money that originates back to the founding families. But money cannot hide the stench of death and deceit which lingers amongst the sweet smelling hydrangeas that surround white picket fences.

Tristan Radcliffe might be my fiancé, but not through choice. Nothing in my life is a choice.

I am always a good girl, obeying my family as expected because I am Elena Montgomery, a child of The Society.

And this was the life we lived.

I really, really enjoyed this book. I'm not sure if I've read others from Alice but I know I will from now on. I was absorbed into the story and honestly didn't want it to end. I could have carried on reading about this pair forever 🤣
I'm hoping we will get to see more of the "family" and check in on tris and elena again very soon. Xx

I LOVED this story so much !!

She hates him, but there is a very thin line between hate and lust. She is the ultimate good girl, pleasing her family and others. He sees the real Elena and she knows she is close to dropping her facade. She knows he is trying to make her lose control so she can be free.

He wants her and he knows that she is more than a good girl. She doesn't have to always be perfect, showing everyone her real persona.

Tristan and Elena are like ultimate couple goals. He is willing to let her take control of him and show her what she is capable of doing.

I loved all the characters within this book and want to know more about their lives. I hope Alice writes more of them; she has created such a good story. I need MORE !!

Possible slight spoilers ahead!

He loves her. She wishes he was dead. There's a very fine line between love and hate. I have never loved two characters so much. While Elena was a deep pit of emotion, Tristan was like the cool water that filled it....but together they were more like a beautiful tornado. Their families are part of The Society, a place where blood, wealth, and loyalty are expected above all else. Thrown together basically some birth and knowing they were predetermined to be together, Elena made it her goal to push and punch her way through the boundaries but instead slowly realizes she's become a mere puppet for her father. With Tristan's help, she finally lets loose and Society be damned. Beautifully written characters, a plot that caused shivers, and some steam....utter perfection, Miss La Roux!!!

3.5 stars. I waited too long to write this. Trying to remember my impression. I guess that I’m itself says something.

I liked the scenes with her and Tristan. It was very intense. I liked his protective nature.

This book is one that is full of personal dilemmas for our main heroine. Personally, I enjoyed her indecision and transition into a dominating personality. Even more, her prospective partner encourages her growth and sets into motion her journey of breaking the habits/stresses her father has imposed on her. All in all, an awesome progression of character development. Continuing, another concept that is written into this book is the introduction of a subtle LGBTQ relationship in the background which we learn has its own difficulties. WARNING: This book does have violence and graphic material. I would not recommend this book to anyone that has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in any capacity.

I read this little gem in one sitting, and i'm not usually a fan of contemporary romance but this book floored me. I was left sobbing in bed next to my partner who was trying to sleep! The characters in this story are well crafted, and i resonated completely with Lena. The tension just builds and builds, and leaves you with nowhere to go as the workings of The Society come increasingly to light. Tristan melted my heart, and i found his relationships with Lena to be both adorable and sexy as hell! I loved this book so much, and will be immediately going to buy as many Alice La Roux books as i can get my hands on. As a first time reader of this author, I am absolutely floored, and i feel like i've been left emotionally suckerpunched by the themes in this story. What more can i say? Go buy it! You won't be disappointed!

I loved this story in The Society anthology and I was really glad that it got extended.

The Society will do anything to protect their way of life, even if that means forcing Elena to marry Tristan. Elena is a perfect student who loves to dance and tries way too hard to please her father even when he doesn’t have her best interests at heart. Tristan on the other hand would rather smoke weed and paint.

Elena doesn’t want to marry Tristan she wants to go to college but her father is having none of it he won’t have her ruin his look as Mayor, the only person who sees the real Elena is Tristan.

Tristan spend the whole book pushing Elena trying to remove the strings put in place by her father, he wants her to be free and be herself but all Elena wants to do is please her father and be a good girl.

During this extended version we got to see more of the background characters throughout Elena and Tristan’s chapters and I LOVED Tabitha and how she looks out for Elena and Elena’s mother who helps Elena to finally be herself even if Elena thinks the mother-daughter time is a test.

Can Tristan win Elena round or will her father push her too far?

This author is new to me and I really didn’t know what to expect. This book is a hidden treasure. It’s more than a simple romance or trope it’s also a look into a creepy dystopian world that is scarily easy to imagine as reality.
While the characters are all more anti heroes/heroines than beacons of light and good they are also compelling to tread about.
There are twists and turns and it’s not ever a predictable read. I will definitely be reading more by this author.

Both children born into the Society, where expectations are high and failures just don't happen, Elena and Tristian have to navigate the highs and lows of this political world. Gripping drama, and believable emotion, Ms La Roux has created characters that I cared for and a story that held my attention throughout. It’s my first time reading this author and I will certainly check out her other books.

Skipped to the end

This book is not the mafia book the blurb promised. It’s about high school kids who grow up in a secret society. And it’s not even a good story line. A little more than half way through I skipped to the end. And the ending was hilarious but the epilogue sucked. Hard pass. I gave it two stars because of the plot twist at the end.

Okay

Another secret society of kids with too much money, wielding too much power and getting their hands too dirty. But nicely wrapped up in a standalone rather than dragged out over a series. So if this trope is your cup of tea then I'd definitely recommend it to fill a few hours.

This book was such a pleasant surprise!
Really enjoyed the character development and to see our heroine coming into herself and how the other characters supported that!
Really hope we get to see more of the other characters in the future

I love a good story about a good girl who turns bad. Okay, bad was in her, she just needed a little push.
Tristan and Elena....couple goals. FOR SURE! I love their dynamic and how they were obsessed with one another in their own way.
Alice wrote Elena as a strong FMC and I am here for the stress and burden that she was under. Super relatable. So was Tristan.
If there are more books about the others in The Society, I need the titles. I need to know more about The Society and how I can weasel my way in hahahah!

Spicy level - Hot....for high school (seniors, but 18 year olds) book. Not meant for teens for sure.

Also,, where was Tristan when I was in high school?????
