🔸Serpent & Dove - 4 stars🔸
What a curious book☺️
I was greatly entertained.
The world building was exceptional.
I normally do not sway towards witches, but I am so glad I joined the hype and went for it.
Lou had such a good heart and I loved her sassy and humorous comments.
And the way Reid reacted to them. I died 😂
Ansel should be treasured for life.
And add all that french talk made my romantic heart so happy. What can I say, French is so stupidly charming.😍
Action wise we got a solid portion, and the plot was very well developed. I really liked it.🍁
Pretty damn awesome for a debut author, I must say.
Will for sure be reading book 2.
Blood & Honey - 3 stars
I cannot say that Blood & Honey held the same standard as Serpent & Dove did.
It took a very long time before the story picked up.
And truth to be told I found a lot of it unnecessary.
Some parts were absolutely glorious. Deep. Powerful. Why I feel in love with Serpent & Dove. But most of the time it wasn’t.
Lou was... not Lou.
Everything I loved about her was missing. Her spirit. Her passion. Her heart.
She felt withered. Crass. Rude.
And I get why. I truly do. But in all her hurt she lost herself, not only to herself but to me as a reader.
I still got mad love for Coco, Beau & Ansel. Their loyalty is deep and beautiful. True to themselves.
We also got introduced to a fair share of interesting characters, and the world holding is still excellent.

Serpent & Dove è un romanzo fantasy paranormal, primo di una trilogia, dove i protagonisti sono Louise (Lou) e Reid, una strega e un cacciatore di streghe.
Quando i due si incontrano per la prima volta, sono già ben chiare le dinamiche del loro rapporto. Reid sa che deve catturarla, mentre Lou non deve farsi prendere. Reid Pensa che Lou sia una mera ladra che deve catturare per poter interrogare riguardo un furto in cui era coinvolta insieme ad una strega. Quindi, quando la incontra a teatro, i due lottano, ma lei riesce a far sembrare tutto come un tentativo di stupro ed è solo grazie all’intervento dell’arcivescovo che le cose si sistemano, anche se i due non la vedono propriamente così, perché la soluzione di quest’ultimo è un matrimonio.
Costretti a vivere sotto lo stesso tetto e a stretto contatto, i due che prima vedevano la realtà in bianco e nero, cominciano a scoprire che esistono anche diverse sfumature di grigio e a capire che forse la situazione non è andata così male.
Entrambi i personaggi principali hanno i loro pregi e i loro difetti e forse è per questo che a fine libro non si può fare a meno di amarli.
Lou è testarda e indipendente. Passa la vita a nascondersi e questo la rende molto selettiva riguardo alle persone di cui fidarsi. Ha un cuore gigante, però, e tiene sul serio ai pochi amici che si riescono ad avvicinare.
Reid, invece, è un fedele. Crede con tutto se stesso alla causa che il suo ordine perora, così tanto che ha rinunciato a sposare la persona che amava e ora si ritrova pieno di rimpianti. Prova però ad aprire la sua mente e il suo mondo un po’ di più quando inizia man mano a conoscere Lou e a vederla con occhi diversi.
Anche i personaggi secondari sono interessanti, forse ancora non ben caratterizzati quanto i principali, ma perché non hanno avuto così tanto tempo a disposizione.
Si nota, però, che c’è ancora molto da scoprire e non vedo l’ora di poter leggere anche i successivi capitoli.
La trama è ben strutturata e intrigante. Si sanno alcuni aspetti dai diversi punti di vista, ma è solo alla fine che vengono combinati e si ha una visione più generale.
Questo è solo l’inizio, però, e tutto ciò che i protagonisti hanno già sacrificato potrebbe non essere sufficiente per salvarsi da ciò che hanno messo in moto.

Read fairly quickly. Lots going on in each book. Didn't like that they kept introducing new species like we should have known of their existence and background on them.
