For context, I am reading this after coming out of a long term relationship. Maybe all this stuff is common knowledge to most people but it wasn’t to me. There is no shortage of useful information and practices to try with your partner or on your own in this book. The writer provides examples from couples she’s worked with, her own life, and practical exercises which I found useful. The book focuses partly on compassion for oneself which is what grabbed my attention in the first place as it is something I am struggling with, and a result was struggling to have it in my relationship as well. The book did take me a while to get through, but I will definitely revisit it as the information is organized well throughout the chapters
