Poehe Shaw saw her late grandma’s house in Burlington as the best place to hide and reset her life after she went viral on SNS losing her job and her girlfriend. Taylor Donovan didn't expect to see her first love and first heartbreak when she went for her usual trek that day, but here she was Phoebe in the flesh in Vermont. When they recover from the shock to see each other after so many years of silence they start a new friendship, but will they keep their attraction on the low? Or will they r...more
something about this author’s writing has me adoring one heroine while rly disliking the other. in this case, loved Taylor. didn’t like Phoebe.
for starters, i kinda wanted a bit more angst? i know, im shocked too. overly angsty reads send me into cardiac arrest from all the stress, but this for sure needed way more angst.
i mean, this was a second chance romance where Phoebe broke Taylor’s heart when they were teens and literally never spoke to her again for 13 years. now they’re reunited, ...more

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the eighth book in a series of stories written by a collection of talented authors and set in Sarina Bowen’s True North world. I am really enjoying the connections, and yet the variety of styles offered by the different writers. This is a lovely story of second chances and a super cute rescue dog side-story!

I was so excited to read this book because not only is it my first book by Rachel Lacey but it’s also the first F/F romance I’ve ever read! As a bisexual woman, I’m surprised it’s taken me this long but now that I’m here I’m loving it.
Hideaway was a sweet and light second chance romance. I really enjoyed reading about Phoebe and Taylor.

(This is stand alone, despite being in a series.)
I'm a sucker for a second chance romance that rekindles a first teenaged love many years later. Phoebe and Taylor are now 29, haven't interacted since their tentative summer fling at 16, after which Phoebe up and left. Before that they were best friends for years growing up ...more
I received a free copy through Heart Eyes Press in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.
3.5 stars — This was a sweet story with a good solid connection between the heroines, but I think I got too frustrated with Taylor’s reticence and I lost my enthusiasm for their love story.
Phoebe had these sweet and bright qualities, and I could see how Taylor was attracted to them. I really appreciated that while Phoebe made the past mistake, she truly tr ...more
Phoebe got caught on camera flipping off a jerk and its gone viral. As a result she lost her job and her girlfriend. Looking for a place to lie low, she goes to Vermont to renovate her late grandmother’s home. Imagine her surprise when she finds Taylor, her former best friend, first love and the woman who gave her her first kiss, hiking on the property. Taylor has been taking care of the property as she promised Phoebe’s gran. She also wants to buy the property because she lov ...more

I enjoyed all the choices Rachel Lacey made for not just the story but also Taylor and Phoebe as characters, but I was detached from their romance. I totally believed in their friendship and their growth in that respect, but not the romance. I can’t even pinpoint why? #bananas Maybe it was too easy? This is a low, almost nonexistent, angst read. The revelation on the who/why/where of the past and why ...more
When Phoebe returns to her hometown, she is given a second chance with her high school girlfriend, Taylor.
Both women are likable and the storyline enjoyable. They are definitely hot together. But it's the sweet development of their relationship that had me impressed.

Phoebe and Taylor I enjoyed. I was rooting for Taylor from the start and the work that she does with the dogs and wanted her to be happy. I could tell that Phoebe was what made her happy and that was great. I was actually mor ...more
I'll be honest: I'm super picky when it comes to F/F romances, even pickier than I tend to be with M/M romances. I can count on fewer than the ten fingers of my two hands F/F romances that have stayed with me, so forgive me if I'm rather giddy over the fact that I can finally--FINALLY!--add a new title to that ever-so-short list. Rachel Lacey blew me away with her writing on this one, and it wasn't just a matter of her writing any ol' romance and add ...more
Pheobe Shaw returns home to Vermont to renovate her grandmother’s house, as she re-assess her life and her future. Reuniting with her teenage friend Taylor Donovan was never in the cards. And neither was fostering a pregnant dog! But life has a weird sense of humor, and fate enjoys playing cupid and bringing two wonderful people who deserve to be happy and together.
Rachel Lacey has expanded the horizons of her writing which am thorough ...more
Phoebe and Taylor’s story is a quiet, small town romance. They were friends as teens and secretly dated one summer, but Phoebe wasn’t sure who she was at a young age and didn’t know how to handle the feelings she had for Taylor. The women have gone on and built lives, but they still haven’t found the relationship that clicks like they did together.
Their story is slow moving and mostly drama free. Taylor runs the animal shelter and is committed to the animals and t ...more
Phoebe is back in town after her grandma dies to get the cabin she lived in cleaned up to rent out. There she runs into her past love, Taylor. Things between them ended abruptly when Phoebe left after one summer when they were teenagers. There are unsaid feelings between the two that they have to work out.
