"Dunkelheit bricht herein" ist der dritte und somit auch Abschlussband dieser Trilogie. Hier wird es noch einmal richtig spannend. Werden die Soul Riders am Ende das Böse besiegen?
Ich mochte das Buch, aber mir hat der erste Band der Trilogie immer noch am besten gefallen.
Insgesamt aber eine wirklich schöne Reihe über Freundschaft, Pferde und Magie.

Er is een storm op komst. De vier Soul Riders komen voor de grootste uitdaging tot nu toe te staan. De plannen van meneer Sands en de Dark Riders dreigen alles te verwoesten. Om de plannen te stoppen moeten de Soul Riders hun angsten overwinnen en hun magische gaven inzetten. Maar de tijd dringt…

De duisternis valt is het derde deel van de eerste trilogie.

Het boek begint met een kleine terugblik op de vorige delen. Altijd fijn om mee te beginnen want zo weet je weer wat er gebeurt is.
Al snel komt het verhaal op gang en is er spanning.

Hoewel er dus genoeg actie in het boek zat, kwam ik er weer niet in. Er waren ook wat andere kleine dingetjes waar ik mij aan ergerde. Zoals dat er zowat elk hoofdstuk iemand moet huilen. Of dat er gezegd wordt dat het geen goed idee is maar het vervolgens wel doen.

Ondanks alles blijft het een mooi verhaal over vriendschap, paarden en magie. Een wereld waar je wel in meegenomen wordt.

Aaaand we're done with the last book off the first triology!

And it was quite good. And even though the main character Liza isn't my favorite, Alex is. Linda, Liza and Anne are still good rounded characters that have moved away from the cliches they started as.

There's lots of action in this book. Lots of scary stuff, that I thought kiddo might be to young for (she's almost 9, to young to read this on her own), she didn't have an issue with those scenes when we read them together.

There's two issues I had with the book that have pulled down the score somewhat though.

The dad-rescue.... On one level, yeah. They're teen girls, of course she wants to save her dad. But the way it was set up, it SCREAMED trap! And had they beaten Mr Sands and Garnok instead right away, dad would have been saved anyway so... Yeah.

And the final fight, the show down.... Was so confusing and written in such unclear a way it just didn't work so well for me. Especially not considering how the rest of story is very clear and to the point. Even the first time they were in the parallell reality Pandoria it was written more clear then this time. So that was a bit of a fail, I feel.

I really LOVE the henchmen of the bad guy though!!! The generals, Sabine, Jessica and Katja. SUCH cool henchmen-ladies! They've really kicked ass and been really scary throughout the story! So just wanted to give a shout out to kick ass bad guy ladies! Loved them!

A shame those two weak things though, but the writing, the language in the rest of the story was very good. So it wasn't a weak book, it was just a decent horse/fantasy book with two weak points.

I had high hopes for this book despite not having read the first two books in the series because I like MG fantasy and horses, and it started out really well with interesting characters, magic, and monsters, then went steeply downhill when the girls decided to rescue the father of one of the team members with no plan. It is repeatedly talked about how this is a stupid idea, again and again, and the characters act like they are surprised at having no plan when they set out as if they hadn't had a whole discussion about what a bad idea it was to go in without a plan. I read loads of MG and I expect more common sense from MG characters and better writing from an author on their third book.

Po słabej drugiej części to zdecydowanie było odbicie się od dna. Zakończenie całej historii przypadło mi do gustu. Momentami relacje między bohaterami czy ich siła były przesadzone, ale w sumie na tym opiera się cała historia. Na magicznej sile PRZYJAŹNI która pokona wszystko. Uważam jednak, że zdmuchnięcie całego zła od tak było ostro przegięte.
W sumie to taka miła historia do przeczytania na książkowym kacu gdy człowiek potrzebuje jakiejś lekkiej pozycji. Polecam.

As a reader of books, in a physical form or ebook I thought that I’d at least try the audio format of book. I found that an audiobook I can easily fall asleep while listening to and helps me to drift back to sleep and ideal for a sleepless and restless nights more equipped for times when I have ceaseless head chatter. The audio book is definitely easy to listen to while a passenger on a bus or working around the house. I have also found that I’m a series reader and begins at the first book to which I didn’t realise that this book is the final instalment. I have disappointed myself, as I found that I was missing certain information about the girls and how they magically connected they are when working together as a team and with their horses. I unfortunately found that I do prefer to read as with an audiobook I am unable to connect with the characters, the plot or envision the scenery or scenes as I can with a virtual book. Ideal book for any age who loves to read fantasy genre.

Lisa is one of my favorite Soul Riders characters, she is fun to interact with in the game. But her in this book gives me big mager headaches. Have you not learned your lesson about what happens when you let your emotions get to you. Actually let me refras that... think before you jump off a cliff, and decided if it’s really worth it to do so.
This book isn’t that great, and a lot of the lessons has to be repeated constantly. Because the characters have terrible memories. Maybe it’s because S.S.O. rarely update the main questline but i remember the Druids not being that useless as they are depicted in the book.
If they were then it’s a miracle how for millions of years the earth hasn’t been destroyed by Garnake yet.
Maybe the trilogy isn’t actually cannon to the games, because they mess up on a lot of things and barely kept anything connected other then the upcoming disappearance/abduction of Anne, Lisa. And the death of Concord. Not sure whether to really count Starshine since he was mostly found aimlessly wondering the woods.
But basically the trilogy would have work better as an alternative timeline/universe then as a new Prequel.
Kinda disappointed how in the epilogue they didn’t hinted at how the Fifth Soul Rider (the player) was going to be discovered. It would have been the best way to tied the two together.
And i rarely compare two different books, but “Spirit Animal” did it WAY better in their first series, they actually had continuity and kept both book and games connected in both stories and characters. I would love to expand on this but it’s probably best if write it in the Spirit Animals book review then on here.
Honestly if i were to give this trilogy different ranks. Like if it’s the official new prequel for the games then it’s a 2 stars.
But if it has nothing to do with the game and it’s an alternate timeline/universe and is making it’s own story… then it gets only a 3 stars.
I’m also even more surprised at how they didn’t think to at least ask the Druids for help when their horses weren’t being themselves. These horses get reincarnated a lot and are part of the Druids (you could even say the Druids in a way are the rightful owners of them), you would think they would have knowledge on how to get them back to normal.
But nope… gotta keep a super far away distance until one of them comes looking for you.
And i was disappointed how the horses didn’t talk at all in the trilogy like they did in both “Star Stable Online”, and “Starshine Legacy”. I thought they would once they were back to their normal self or near the end of the book.
I can easily name another book series that did it better near their end, but i can’t say what that book series name is because it’s a major spoiler for the ending of the first series.

This book was packed with drama and adventure, two major important factors that went in the perfect YA book. I can definitely see this book as a potential candidate for a future Battle of the Books due to the minor details that make a book so fascinating to read and the adventure carried on and got better and better. The teamwork and passion the riders had in defeating the Dark Riders were very inspiring and motivating to read that young readers everywhere will not get enough. I will definitely put a word in for our battle of the books competition and see how far this book will take our competitors.

We will consider adding this title to our JFiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

Ich bin definitiv nicht die Zielgruppe für dieses Buch. Es war einfach nicht meins und ich wollte es nur hinter mich bringen, aber das kann halt echt daran liegen, das ich zu alt bin. Es war zwar an sich kurz, aber hat sich trotzdem irgendwie gezogen. Die Handlung war irgendwie langweilig und die Charaktere sind auch noch nicht soo symphytisch. Klar, das sind Kinder (mega mies, dass die dann so eine Verantwortung aufgedrückt bekommen), aber die waren trotzdem irgendwie bisschen dumm. Als die einfach drauflos geritten sind um Karl zu retten, ohne einen Plan zu haben? War doch klar, dass da was schief läuft. Die hatten da unglaublich Glück gehabt. Aber wie gesagt, ich bin halt auch nicht die Zielgruppe. Irgendwie crazy, dass ich die ersten Teile noch ganz okay fand. Rückblickend würd ich das definitiv anders bewerten, war wahrscheinlich vor allem die Nostalgie für das Spiel. Ich hätt mir für den Epilog aber noch gewünscht, dass es eine Anspielung auf den Spieler, der ja nicht lange nach diesen Geschehnissen ankommt, gibt.

Choć jest to tom trzeci serii Star Stable to system magii nie został jeszcze w pełni uformowany i w tej książce poznajemy podstawowe pojęcie jego mocy. Dziewczyny dopiero są wprowadzone w swoją misję, próbują swoje siły we władaniu magią i współpracy. Świetnie wprowadzony cliffhanger sprawia, że aż chce się sięgnąć po kolejną część, na którą jeszcze trochę poczekamy. Z drugiej strony czytelnicy, którzy nie znają wcześniejszych przygód w świecie Star Stable są świetnie wprowadzeni w fabułę, więc nie będą czuli się wrzuceni na głęboką wodę. Świetna lektura dla każdej małej amazonki.

Przez całą książkę nie odczuwałam żadnych emocji lol

po 1.nie miałabym serca dać mniej
po 2.dla kogoś kto nigdy w to nie grał i ma z 10 lat, będzie spoko i myślę, że może to być nawet najlepsza część tej trylogii dla takiej osoby

A jeśli chodzi o całą trylogie jako zwykłą książkę to nie ma fajerwerków no bo to jednak literatura dziecięca, ale na prezent dla jakiegoś dziecka bardzo git myślę

Ännu en fint skriven bok, att den liksom sina föregångare är spännande gör inte saken sämre. Nu känner vi ödesryttarna och deras hästar relativt väl och vill gärna veta vad som händer, både gällande kampen mot Garnok och deras privata intressen, såsom Lisa, som sökt till musikskolan i Jorvik City. Boken kan nog upplevas som lite läskig av de yngre läsarna, men samtidigt eggar den fantasin och jag tror att hela serien ger barn mer läslust, något som jag tyvärr upplever har minskat genom åren.

En jättefin tolkning av den gamla berättelsen från Starshine Legacy.

Jag tyckte att boken var lite långsam första halvan (det tog ändå 3 år för mig att läsa klart den), vilket kan vara problematiskt för åldersgruppen den är skriven för.

Själv läser jag mest böcker i gruppen "Unga Vuxna", och har därför lite svårt för dialogerna i en bok avsedd för yngre. MEN, jag förstår också att det är skälet till att de är skrivna så.

Överlag tycker jag att det är en väldigt bra bok, bra story och ett lärorikt språk för den yngre åldersgruppen när det gäller läsning.

Pimeys laskeutuu päättää Helena Dahlgrenin Star Stable -pelisarjaan pohjautuvan trilogian. Luvassa on taas vauhtia, magiaa ja hevosia. Vaikka olen lukenut monia parempiakin hevoskirjoja, sarja oli ihan kivaa luettavaa, koska se toi mieleeni pelin ja sen maailman.

This was by far the most eventful book in the series. The only reason why I gave it four stars out of five is because it leaves us on a cliff hanger (where we will continue in the game itself). I very much enjoyed this series and can’t wait to read any more that may be coming out in the future.
