Gah, too easy. Everything was just too freaking EASY. I wanted more remorse from the hero but it was lukewarm. What he did was fucked up. And yea he was a stupid kid with raging hormones and all that excuses. But still, I wanted to him to feel gutted and humiliated like the h did. Unfortunately, I don't get the sense that Wyatt was that broken up over how he hurt Sadie. How he devastated her with the dick move he pulled when they were younger. . At least not until 70% in. When he finally apologized for what he did. And acknowledged that he made a huge mistake. That he picked the wrong girl and suffered greatly for it.
I really wished Sadie had made Wyatt groveled more but she was very forgiving early on. But not like she really got a chance to ponder her choices. There were peeps left and right, telling her to let bygones be bygones. He's not same guy from before. Forgive and forget, yada yada. I really hate this in second chance romance. All the meddling. Like honestly, she was the one that was left heartbroken. She can decide for herself when is the right time.
As for Wyatt. He's far from my kind of hero. Being so passive. A coward and such a weakling. Especially when the skank ex made her reappearance and causing drama . I wanted Wyatt to unleashed holy hell on her but the guy was just still nice and courteous. Why? I don't know. He owed her nothing. It's sad to think if the OW hadn't screwed him over and cheated on him, Wyatt would have married her. And that would have been it. No agonizing over the h. But lucky him that he gets a do-over. As the h had to adhere to the rule of all second chance romance. That no other man will do unless it's the jerk that crapped over her heart.

Not really sure where this popped up, but decided to give it a try.
They have history, he was part of a group that bullied her their senior year of high school. The author wants you to think he’s rather passive about it, but standing her up and then letting his girl friend make her life miserable isn’t being passive.
Fast forward a few years, she’s back in town, and he’s a local PO/sheriff’s deputy and all around good guy. She obviously isn’t trusting of this and is very clear how cruel the bullying was for her. Guilt… blah, blah, blah.
Yeah, so if his high school girlfriend hadn’t cheated on him when they were engaged, he would have married her.
Whatever, he’s different, she’s different, they find their HEA.
The book is 242 pages, and felt too long. And, I wasn’t fully engaged, as I noticed grammar and word choice errors.

I loved every c.A. harms book I have read. I liked this one at the beginning I felt it was a bit slow but as I got into it I loved it. I loved Wyatt and his sexyness I loved his Alfa side as well.

Haven't yall had a few million chances to get it right? 🙄 less details is your friend in these kind of plots, having him not only ditch but be complacent in her being bullied and watching her tortured is the dumbest writing choice.

One wrong move and I ended up with a girl who at the time I thought was the perfect key to the image I was striving for. A football star with a hot cheerleader at my side.
I was humiliated, and not just once. All my friends immediately wanted to know how the date with the hot football player went.
He was just like all the other guys, self-absorbed and arrogant.
My friends, and even Karlie, would sit around and make fun of Sadie after they'd found out what took place.
Sadie wasn't the only girl in school that I'd hurt, but she was the only one that ended up being the butt of all the jokes from that point until graduation
Because of me, she was the girl that everyone taunted, because of me she was the girl that didn't even get asked to prom.
Yeah, I was the jock that thought that sports alone was all I needed to survive.
“Bed hopper found you.” With a nudge of his head, he motioned behind him and there stood Karlie, looking at me from across the bar.

Far too many editing and grammar issues which i found really off-putting.
My main issue though, was that the hero was an absolute bellend and I couldn't forgive him for the things he did, unlike the heroine, who just seemed to forget it ever happened.

Didn't feel the chemistry. The ow cheated on the H otherwise he wouldn't have gone for the h. The h is his second choice. He doesn't even remember her or her name when they meet after so long. Not enough groveling.

Reminiscent of C.A. Harms ‘Forgiving Reed’.
MARTS - Acronym - Male who is an Asinine, Rotten, Two-timing piece of Sh*te.
Mason Creek, Montana, a place one runs to when they need the feeling of security, the place one thinks of when life lets you down, and you need a lifeline.
Sadie and Wyatt attended high school together, he’d been her high school crush, she’d been the girl easily overlooked...different to the version of the girl expected of him, and he’d been consumed by public acceptance. Thus, he’d been with Karlie, the cheerleader, the shallow, superficial and mean girl; the socially acceptable girl.
Wyatt had zero respect for Sadie, lamenting in his inner monologue about humiliating her because of peer pressure. He’d allowed his friends and girlfriend to belittle and bully her and she simply accepted their derision. How far does mute acceptance go? He stood back and said nothing when everyone made it a point to revisit her embarrassment over and over.
Maybe he thought that he’d buy her a coffee, and then she'd forget about the way he humiliated her in high school? As if standing her up wasn’t bad enough, the teasing and humiliation continued. His friends, and Karlie, would sit around and make fun of Sadie after they'd found out what took place. Comments about her being delusional to think a guy like him would fall for a girl like her. He was an a**hole and remained silent, too worried about his reputation to correct them.
Anna and Levi set out to convince her that Wyatt’s a changed man (there’s nothing wrong with a healthy dose of animosity).
For years she pretended that leaving for LA after high school meant she was running toward something, but the reality was, she left when everything began falling apart.
It took one sentence for her to make her decision. ‘Your mother fell and broke her hip’. Her choice was easy, she left behind the life she hated in a city that she’d never truly belonged.

… and his band of self-entitled jocks, his friends, the a**holes who thought they ruled the world and thought Sadie was beneath them. Consumed by a self-image of keeping up appearances devoid of self-respect.

The same hot cheerleader became one of the ugliest people I’ve ever had in my life. After I blew my knee out the final game of my senior year, the dreams going pro were no longer a reality. Karlie stuck around which surprised me. But I was still blinded by the girl. She showed me all the attention I was in need of, carried herself with a pride at the time I actually respected. She’d tell me what I needed to hear, but she was telling those same things to another guy when I wasn’t around. I was the fool.” (Divine justice).
“I’m so sorry. I was too busy looking at my phone.”
“Let me get you a new one”.
“I’m fine,”
“Really you gotta let me do something—,”
“I think you’ve already done enough.”

“Real smooth, Wyatt.” Anna, my best friend’s wife shoved my shoulder and I stumbled, still completed lost in the memories of my youth. I was a dumb kid, with a one tracked mind and sh*t friends that I’d allowed to lead my decisions.
“You don’t just owe her a caramel macchiato, you owe her a hell of a lot more”.
“He doesn’t owe me a thing.”
“Bet you’re wishing that you didn’t pull a dick move by leaving her waiting on her front porch for you while you ran after a bimbo in a skirt. She’s hot, and you missed out. Karlie was your karma, I’ve told you that for years.”
Her friends had wanted to know how the date with the hot football player went. Wyatt pulled up in his lifted truck and out climbed a blonde, wearing a short skirt, and tight shirt. When Wyatt grabbed the girl around the waist and pulled her to his front she lifted up and kissed him for everyone to see, I shrunk back and became even more invisible. From that point on, I kept my head down and counted down the days to when I could leave behind all the small-minded men of Mason Creek”.

"Yes, you were a kid, I was a kid. I spent the rest of my senior year being harassed and made fun of, but you, your girlfriend, and all your idiot friends used me as a metaphorical punching bag. I'm not back here to rehash the past and I sure as hell am not back here to make you feel better about the dumb choices of your past".

"Yeah, and I'm not the same girl.”

I am prefacing this as a personal peeve for writers opposed to referencing the term ‘dragged’. Many books use drug versus drag. Proper use of DRUGGED versus DRAGGED in its proper intended context—for purposes of clarity —Dragged is a verb, the simple past tense and past participle form of drag, meaning to pull along, such as dragging one’s feet.
Drug or drugged is the simple past tense and past participle of drug, a noun or a verb, relating to chemicals or substances that affect people's bodies and mental states. A substance used to treat an illness, relieve a symptom, or modify a chemical process in the body for a specific purpose.
Excerpt:::
“Anna is out back with Sadie, apparently having a girls night, unpacking. She DRUG me along and told me to keep you company”.
This writer could benefit from an editing tool for her grammatical errors.
The word ‘discrete’ means separate or distinct, as in discrete concepts or discrete parts.
The writer meant (at least I hope she did ) to use discreet. “Everyone heard everything, even when you were trying your damndest to be DISCRETE.”
“What I meant to say, was that I made a huge pot of chili. I took some over to my parents’ house so my father could eat GOOD for the next few days”. (Eat well, not eat good). This is overshadowed by amateurish misuse of words, punctuation and grammatical errors requiring re-reading for clarity.
Writers should evolve beyond bullies/doormat plots as they aren’t the most redeeming of qualities.

A cute, short, and easy read. I wanted to find more about how the hero acted in the past, and why he chose to act like that. I wanted to find more about her relationship with his ex-wife and I thought that the relationship between the hero and heroine developed very fast.

Some sustained angst, mostly stemming from a stupid decision made by an adolescent boy. Sweet, but not nausea-inducing sweetness, so I could hang until the end. Small-town romance. A wee dash of OW interference. Just kind of a solid read in between those books that make me double over with an angsty gut punch.

Perfect Risk by C.A. Harms is the first novel in the Mason Creek Series. Oh my goodness gracious! I am already loving the STRONG small town vibes flowing from this series. What can I say, it’s one of my absolute favorite tropes!
In My Own Words:
Perfect Risk is the second chance romance of Wyatt Murphy and Sadie Michaels. This story is told from both Wyatt and Sadie’s point of views.
In high school, Sadie Michaels crushed on Wyatt Murphy. So when he asked her to be his date at the school dance, Sadie was over the moon excited. But her night didn’t turn out the way she imagined it would. Instead, she sat on her front porch steps waiting for the boy who never bothered to show. And what made everything worse was the years spent being ridiculed and made fun of due to one boy's actions. So when she graduated from high school, she left her home, her family and her friends behind to find a different life with a better perspective.
For five years Sadie has lived the big city life, only coming to the conclusion that she was made for small town days instead of loud city nights. So with her trailer packed up, she heads back home to Mason Creek, Montana where her family and her friends still reside. The curse with small towns, everyone interferes in everyone’s business.
It only took a few days for Sadie to slam into the boy who caused her many years of pain. Only Wyatt isn’t a boy anymore. He’s Mason Creek's very own police officer and most eligible bachelor. And Wyatt will do everything in his power to show Sadie he is no longer the irresponsible teenage boy who broke her heart all those years ago.
But will Sadie find it in her heart to forgive Wyatt?
My Thoughts:
C.A. Harms is a fairly new-to-me author. So when I picked up Perfect Risk, I wasn’t sure what to expect. All I knew was I was in the mood for a small town romance with heart and heat and C.A. Harms DELIVERED!! My heart is extremely full!
Wyatt and Sadie’s story is exactly what second chances are made of and I loved the fact that they both lived and learned from past mistakes. Standing up Sadie has lived in the back of Wyatt’s mind since the moment he made the decision. I loved Wyatt’s honesty. He f*cked up that night and he knew he did. Karma bit him in the ass...HARD…. For that decision. I won’t spoil it, but know, this man had his whole world turned upside down by another person’s reckless decision…. You live and you learn. He definitely learned, and his past forced him to be a better man. I loved that moral of the story.
Now, as for Sadie, this woman had her own difficult decision to make. She could either forgive Wyatt for his past and his decisions that caused her pain, or she could move on from the past and realize what he did as a kid does not define the man he is, today. I’m so happy she chose to forgive, or otherwise I’d be writing a whole different review.
These two are as sweet as sugar. I loved their chemistry and I loved the fact that their adult selves were honest and open about their feelings. When Sadie had a moment of insecurity, she hid for a day but then she came clean about that moment. The communication between these two was spot on!! I loved it.
Of course, we can’t forget about the smolder. Mr. Wyatt Murphy is sexy as sin beneath the sheets and on the streets. What made him sexy was the adoration he showed towards Sadie. A man that is invested in his woman, is a great man, in my book.
Now onto why I rated this a four star instead of a full five star rating.
You see, I loved the story, the dialogue, and the characters. But I felt some moments were rushed. I wanted more sexy vibes from Wyatt and Sadie. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the sweet moments but I wanted a touch more passion and lust fueled moments. I felt a bit selfish with this one. Which only goes to show how invested I was in it.
Overall, Perfect Risk by C.A. Harms was the perfect introduction to the Mason Creek Series!! I cannot wait to continue on with all the small town vibes! I need them now!

Perfect Risk is the second chance romance of Wyatt Murphy and Sadie Michaels. This story is told from both Wyatt and Sadie’s point of views.
In high school, Sadie Michaels crushed on Wyatt Murphy. So when he asked her to be his date at the school dance, Sadie was over the moon excited. But her night didn’t turn out the way she imagined it would. Instead, she sat on her front porch steps waiting for the boy who never bothered to show. And what made everything worse was the years spent being ridiculed and made fun of due to one boy's actions. So when she graduated from high school, she left her home, her family and her friends behind to find a different life with a better perspective.
For five years Sadie has lived the big city life, only coming to the conclusion that she was made for small town days instead of loud city nights. So with her trailer packed up, she heads back home to Mason Creek, Montana where her family and her friends still reside. The curse with small towns, everyone interferes in everyone’s business.
It only took a few days for Sadie to slam into the boy who caused her many years of pain. Only Wyatt isn’t a boy anymore. He’s Mason Creek's very own police officer and most eligible bachelor. And Wyatt will do everything in his power to show Sadie he is no longer the irresponsible teenage boy who broke her heart all those years ago.
But will Sadie find it in her heart to forgive Wyatt?
My Thoughts:
C.A. Harms is a fairly new-to-me author. So when I picked up Perfect Risk, I wasn’t sure what to expect. All I knew was I was in the mood for a small town romance with heart and heat and C.A. Harms DELIVERED!! My heart is extremely full!

I played audiobook roulette on Everland, as my picky reading mood made it impossible to choose from the hundreds of books on my TBR, and I needed something to listen to while cleaning the house. This filled that gap. The author and both narrators were new to me, so I had no clue what to expect. The narrators did a good job, and I enjoyed listening to them, but overall, I found the characters and story to be middling.
I think the pacing of the story played a big part in why I felt that way because everything happened too quickly between Sadie and Wyatt. I wholeheartedly felt that Sadie needed to get a grip and let go of what Wyatt did when they were teenagers. Yes, it was shitty; yes, it must have sucked at the time; and yes, everyone else at school using it to taunt her would have sucked… but they were teens. Teens don't make smart decisions and can be cruel to each other. It's not an excuse, but it is a fact, and for this to be seven years later and for her to still have such a chip on her shoulder about it felt juvenile. People change and mature as they get older, you know? And why give him or them that kind of power over you after all that time? Just move on.🙄
This was a very stereotypical small-town second-chance romance. It was predictable, and personally, I found the chemistry lacking... but it made for an easy listen I didn't have to pay full attention to while I did other things. It's book 1 in what looks to be a multi-author shared-world series, so I will give book 2 a try at some point and see if that grips my attention better.🤷♀️🌶.5

Una piccola cittadina. Due vecchi compagni di scuola. Un passato che li lega. Le loro strade stanno per incontrasi di nuovo.

As teenagers, we acted impulsively and thought about the consequences in hindsight. Wyatt Murphy was no different. He learned way back then the consequences of his actions that have followed him to the present day. When Sadie Michaels came back to town, Wyatt was the last person she wanted to see, let alone talk to. It seemed that where she ran into Wyatt, trouble found them.
As Sadie learned about adult Wyatt, her opinions of him began to change and started to let him through the walls she built. He atoned his transgressions and dedicated himself to making Sadie happy. Their road to ever after was not paved smoothly in gold, but was a path with many cracks forged together by time, trust, and forgiveness.
There really is no place like home. The small town gossip can drive you batty, but the town itself gives a sense of belonging. This was a great introduction to the Mason Creek Series! The characters are likable and relatable. The story is realistic. The true love shines.

Oh my goodness!! I knew I was going to love this Mason Creek series but I had no idea I would fall in love with this town so quickly! GAH!!!
Sadie took off to the big bad city in search of herself. Now coming home to help out after her mom breaks her hip, she knows the second she rolls into town, that home is where she is meant to be. Being with her parents and best friend calms her soul. That is until she runs smack into Wyatt. The one person that is able to destroy her heart.
I am absolutely head over heels in love with this book! Sadie and Wyatt are such exhilarating characters! So much chemistry that you can literally feel the spark! I was hooked on them from the start!
This is a beautiful story of love, passion, and forgiveness. This is a must-read and I am so excited to get to know all of these wonderful people in Mason Creek, Montana! 5 easy stars!!!

Was PERFECT RISK the worst book I’ve read this year? No.
Was it the best or most memorable? Also no.
Honestly, PERFECT RISK needed a few more rounds with an editor. Words were used in instances that did not make sense, the sentence structure was choppy, and there were plot holes that never got resolved.
I truly think this could have been a 4-star book, a wonderfully sweet, light read, if only with a bit more editing.
I can’t say that I would recommend it, BUT if you like this author or already have it on your TBR list, it’s a quick enough read that isn’t entirely regrettable.

This was such a fun book! I love second chance romances, and the twist of their past being so troublesome had me jumping for joy that she finally got her guy! One scene had me laughing out loud and covering my face in embarrassment for them. I can’t wait to read more of this small town ❤️

I almost let a 2 star review put me off this book but after seeing all the rest had higher reviews I gave it a chance. I get where they were coming from not being able to forgive the mmc for allowing the bullying in high school but at the same time, they were in high school! And he was a teenage boy. Most only think with their ego and second head and sounds like karma had something to say about his apathy in the end anyway.
I enjoyed the characters, the amusing headlines and that the book was low angst. I’m not always a fan of instalove but when my anxiety is bad, it’s perfect so I had no issues. Can’t wait to binge the rest!

Good book but there were a lot of grammar and spelling mistakes throughout!
The plot and story was great! Wyatt seemed like an overall good guy that has grown as an individual compared to the boy he was in highschool. I do wish Sadie would've made Wyatt work harder for this second chance after what he did in highschool.
It was great to read about this lovely little town and I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series. This book introduced us to a lot of characters I can't wait to get to know more about and hope they get their own books in this series.

Sometimes the author switches from present to past in the same sentence which makes the sentence inconsistent. There were several pages with multiple errors. Perfect Risk is the first book in the Mason Creek series and what an amazing way to start the series off. This second chance small town romance has you enchanted by the town, the characters and the storyline. Wyatt and Sadie have a past, one with regrets, broken hearts and wrong decisions. As these two collide, the hurt, the spark and chemistry come to the forefront. Their story is emotional and will have you shedding a few tears and feeling the insecurities that are still lurking. It is a passionate, sweet, heartfelt and captivating story that touches your heart and soul. Perfect Risk will also have you laughing out loud with the witty banter that you witness between all the characters. A thoroughly entertaining story that has you falling in love with not only Wyatt and Sadie but the town of Mason Creek.

H broke h's heart in in high school. She was sort of nerdy, he asked her out (because he did like her) but yielded to peer- pressure then stood her up for cheerleader-mean-girl.
Pretty bad stuff. I'm guessing it's a decade later and she's back home in small town (Montana? Wyoming? one of those) after living in L.A. for 5 years or so after college.
H is not the jerk he was in H.S., he stayed with the C.M.G. for a long time and was even engaged to her but she was bed-hopping and he ended it (maybe a couple of years, not really sure about the timeline0.
You would think that was pretty hard stuff to come back from but he is pretty perfect now and even when the ex tries to stir up trouble he doesn't let it happen.

I'm a Little Torn...
But only a little. The book, as a whole, wasn't horrible, but it could have been so much better.
On to the story...Wyatt stood Sadie up for a date way back in high school. It was the beginning of Sadie becoming an outcast and laughingstock in their small town. Upon her return to Mason Creek (from LA), she's adamant that she won't fall for the man that broke her--not just her heart--so many years ago.
Of course, they fall for each other or there wouldn't be a story.
There was a perfect antagonist in Wyatt's ex, Karlie, but she wasn't used to the fullest potential. It looked like she might give Sadie a run for Wyatt's affection, but she just kinda disappears without putting up much of a fight.
The typos in this book are horrendous. There was punctuation added where none was needed, then punctuation left out where it definitely should have been. Run-on sentences are real and they are a pain to decipher. Sentence fragments are, too, but I'll just leave this here. There were words completely misused--maybe it was because they sounded close enough to be mistaken: fallen/falling; given/giving; to/too; addition/edition. Then there were words that just seemed to be used incorrectly: Sadie says something about her "inferior friends" ready to come to her rescue when Anna wanted to go off on somebody.
There are all kinds of software that can run spelling and grammar checks for those who don't want to pay a proofreader. I don't understand how something with these many errors was even published.
A reader shouldn't have to work to figure out what a writer is saying. I had to work for this one.
I like small-town romances, and I like when they're in a series. If the editing/proofreading in the remaining books is anything like it was in this book, I'll have to pass on the rest.
But only a little. The book, as a whole, wasn't horrible, but it could have been so much better.
On to the story...Wyatt stood Sadie up for a date way back in high school. It was the beginning of Sadie becoming an outcast and laughingstock in their small town. Upon her return to Mason Creek (from LA), she's adamant that she won't fall for the man that broke her--not just her heart--so many years ago.
Of course, they fall for each other or there wouldn't be a story.
