A volume containing three of the author's early "Separate Beds" - the story of a marriage of convenience; "Forsaking All Others" - set in the fashion world and "A Promise to Cherish" - a woman's attempt to make it in the man's world of construction.
LaVyrle Spencer is an American best-selling author of contemporary and historical romance novels. She has successfully published a number of books, with several of them made into movies. Twelve of her books have been New York Times bestsellers, and Spencer was inducted into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame in 1988.
Spencer is known for creating realistic characters and stories that focus on families rather than only the relationship between a man and woman. These "ordinary" men and women are warm and vulnerable and are always portrayed sympathetically.[1] Her heroines tend to be a mix of fire and warmth, strength, savvy and soft–heartedness who must overcome some sort of adversity, such as pregnancy, divorce, a lengthy separation, the loss of a loved one, and then undergo a catharsis. The stories center on themes of abiding love, family ties and strength in difficult times.
In the 1980s and 1990s Spencer wrote 12 New York Times Bestsellers. Her books have been sold to book clubs worldwide, and have been published around the world. Condensed versions of many of her novels have appeared in Reader's Digest and Good Housekeeping.
This book is a collection of 3 of LaVyrle Spencer's novels. I really like this author's books but unfortunately she has now stopped writing - more's the pity. I have cried buckets over her novels - they really tug at your heartstrings. So if you enjoy a good cry when you read then these are for you.
Back Cover Blurb: Seperate Beds:- The wedding of Clay and Catherine was the social event of the season. But everything about it was a lie. Catherine had reluctantly agreed to a 'marriage of convenience'....and the only thing that could upset the arrangement was the unexpected arrival of love.
Forsaking All Others:- Allison was accustomed to gorgeous men - as an ambitious photographer, she worked with handsome models all the time. One painful mistake had taught her never to get too close again. But on a commission to create a romantic book cover, business and pleasure threatened to mix inextricably....
A Promise to Cherish:- It was no mean feat for a woman to be an estimator in the man's world of the construction industry. So Lee definitely didn't need to lose her suitcase on the way to an important meeting; for it to be picked up by her business rival was the last straw. Sam Brown might have a devilish grin and deep brown eyes, but he was clearly no gentleman, or he'd have returned it immediately. But he did come up with an offer she couldn't refuse....
