690 books131 followersThe Belgian author Morris (full name Maurice de Bevere) is best known for his humorous cowboy character, Lucky Luke. Morris started his career in 1945 in Le Moustique, creating various covers and illustrations. By the end of the 1940s, Morris met his colleagues Jijé, Franquin and Will. These four artists would be called "The Gang of 4", because they all worked in Jijé's studio at that time. The first episode of Lucky Luke, 'Arizona 1880', was published in L'Almanach Spirou 1947, and was later continued in Spirou. In his early 'Lucky Luke' comics, Morris was greatly inspired by animated cartoons à la Disney.
In 1949, Jijé took Morris and Franquin to the US, where Morris met Jack Davis and Harvey Kurtzman, whom he helped with their plans for Mad Magazine. He also met René Goscinny in the US. In 1955, Morris returned to Europe and collaborated with René Goscinny on 'Lucky Luke'. Goscinny wrote the scenarios of over 35 stories, which led to the great success of the series.

Some funny moments and your typical bizarre situations but nothing really great about it, except for maybe the unmasking of the bad guy.

It's probably a stretch to expect that most folk under forty, let alone the youth of today, will know that there was once a canine movie star called Rin Tin Tin. The hound was so popular that he starred in 27 films from 1922 until 1931. You don't need to know this to enjoy this Lucky Luke spin-off, but it will at least help you understand the gag of Rin Tin Can's name, and why he even exists as a character.
If you've read only a few Lucky Luke's then chances are you've come across Rin Tin Can already. Unlike his movie inspiration, Rin Tin Can is neither heroic nor smart. To put it bluntly, he's as bright as black paint. If he can get it wrong, he will, and often spectacularly so. Almost every situation is misunderstood as the dog makes his way through the world with a perspective that only limited brain cells can give. Obviously, this is excellent fuel for a series all to himself.
In The Mascot we meet the 7th Cavalry and their deeply superstitious colonel. The colonel owes much of his unit's good fortune to their lucky mascot, a dog called Fido. What's not so fortunate is that the mascots keep disappearing, meaning replacement Fidos are required to ensure the 7th Cavalry's continued sunny outlook. This is supported by the fantastic news that the President of United States will be paying their small garrison a personal visit.
However, when Fido VI disappears panic entails, and the nearest replacement that can be located is holed up supporting the nearby prison: one Rin Tin Can. If the colonel was hoping to restore his luck he most certainly picked the wrong dog. Almost everything goes wrong immediately, and it doesn't really get any better.

Parempi ja huvittavampi tämä oli kuin saman aikakauden Lucky Luket. Toisaalta hämmentävää, että tässä huvittaa Rantanplanin typeryys, mutta kun samaa typeryyttä kohtaa päivittäin ihmisissä, se ei huvita ollenkaan.

Je suis plutôt bon public et j'aime bien l'idée de Rantanplan en mascotte du régiment mais il faut avouer que le scénario de cet album touche au simpliste. Ce n'est pas désagréable et certaines blagues marchent toujours mais j'en aurais voulu plus.

Rantanplan ini antara ngeselin karena telmi, sama nggemesin sih. Tapi aku suka banget soalnya dia suka bikin kesel Lucky Luke dan semua orang terutama Joe.

Rintintin'in önü alınamaz şapşallıklarının çok güzel hikayesi. :) Maskot albümünde Rintintin, 7. birliğin maskot köpeği Fifi VI kaybolunca, onun yerine geçiyor.
7. Birlik Fifi VI'nın şans getiren bir köpek olduğunu düşünüyor ve yerlilerle aralarındaki barış halinin onun getirdiği şans sayesinde olduğuna inanıyor. Zaten bu 7. birliğin başındaki albay inanılmaz batıl inançlı biri savaşa giderken yanında at nalını, tavşan ayağını falan eksik etmiyor. Neyse Rintintin kaybolan Fifi VI'nın yerine Fifi VII olarak geçiyor ve olaylar başlıyor. Türlü türlü şapşallıklar sonucunda yerlilerle barışın nasıl bozulduğunu görünce yüzünüzde gülümsemeler oluşacak.
Güzel bir albüm. Devam albümlerini bekliyorum.
