This is a Cozy Mystery, and this is the first book in the Ice Cream Shop Mystery series. I have to say the cover of this book totally made me get this book, and I think the cover is so very cute. In this book we follow Trinidad after her divorce to no good ex-husband. She moves to Sprocket which sounds like the cuteness small town ever, but her ex-husband's other two ex-wives lives in Sprocket. I think my favorite character is Noodles which is Trinidad's dog, and this dog just takes the spot lig ...more

This is the first book in the Shake Shop Mystery series and I found it to be an easy and entertaining read. Trinidad Jones is picking up the pieces of her life post-divorce and finds herself in the hometown of her ex-husband turning the building he deeded to her into a shake shop. I thought Trinidad was a good main character. She is likable and as an accidental sleuth, she is cautious in searching out clues. She is surrounded by a diverse and solid group of secondary characters that help her wit ...more

Pint of No Return is the first book in the Ice Cream Shop Mystery series.
I love how the author incorporates her enthusiasm for writing into books.
Her characters are somewhat quirky and it makes for a great fast read as you really want to see who will do what as the story evolves.
A mystery revolving around an ice cream shop,a scheming ex-husband who is now jailed, the ex-wives and a smart as a whip former rescue dog.
Kept me guessing and I am looking forward to the rest of the series. I just know i

This is the start of a fun new series with Trinidad Jones starting a new life in Upper Sprocket, Oregon, where she is working on opening an ice cream shop, the Shimmy and Shake Shop, for the coming up 4th of July. She is in a unique place with two other ex-wives that made the mistake of trusting and loving Gabe Bigley. He left each of the wives a business in Sprocket before he went to prison. Trinidad is using old recipes from her Cuban born Papa Luis who is back at home in Miami with her mother ...more

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream!

Newly divorced Trinidad Jones is getting a new start in Upper Sprocket, Oregon, by opening the Shimmy and Shake Shop in a building that used to house one of her embezzling ex-husband’s businesses. Opening a shop and serving monster “freak” milkshakes is a dream come true but Upper Spocket is a small town and it just happens to be where ex-wives 1 and 2 also reside. That is not really a problem for Trinidad until one of them is

I really enjoyed this first installment in the Shake Shop Mystery series. Trinidad is a great MC, and I love that she ends up in Sprocket Oregon, with two other ex-wives of the same man. Her ex is in prison for embezzlement, and he gave each of his ex-wives a business or property he had in Sprocket. Juliette one of the ex-wives is accused of murdering another person from the town - Keven. There are a lot of other suspects, and Trinidad with the help of Quinn and Doug, and her dog Noodles, do som ...more

Me the whole read through: Bwahahaha! Snort!! Guffaw!!! And repeat.

Clever and funny and brilliantly choreographed. The town in all it's quirky glory provides the perfect backdrop to the chaos and mayhem that has become Trinidad's life.

Love the starting over theme and the Shimmy and Shake Shop is more brilliance....though, warning, reading this book may induce ice cream cravings. :-) And the teenage twins Trinidad employs to help her set up her business are a hoot! Cue more laughter.

But the real

I really enjoyed this delicious and baffling cozy mystery. It was scary , unpredictable, at times funny and definitely a page turner. This is the first cozy mystery by Dana Mentink that I've read and I intend to read other books in this series as they come out. The cover with the monster milk shake on it drew me to the book.

PINT OF NO RETURN, the first in the brand-new Shake Shop Mystery series by Dana Mentink, has all the ingredients for a temptingly delicious cozy mystery! Protagonist Trinidad Jones, and her adorable flunked-out service dog, Noodles, are newly arrived in Upper Sprocket, Oregon to take control of a commercial building left to her by her in-the-slammer ex. She’s opening the Shimmy and Shake Shop featuring over-the-top milk shakes and I couldn’t help but drool over the descriptions of her frozen con ...more

This is the first book in the Ice Cream Shop mystery series by Dana Mentink.

Trinidad Jones owns an ice cream shop and is out getting nuts for a friend when she stumbles upon his body stuffed inside a large kettle. This is where he made his famous caramel popcorn.

They know someone is out to keep Trinidad from discovering the truth when her friend, Quinn is attacked and the photos he picked up that belonged to the dead guy were stolen. There is a lot going on in this book which is fine s

What a fun mystery this was! The community of Upper Sprocket was all at once enjoyable and questionable at the same time. Trinidad connected with a few people who could be good friends with her, such as Quinn, Doug, and Juliette. It was also a quaint and cute town. However, it soon became clear that there was a murderer loose and Trinidad’s new friend, Juliette, was immediately accused and arrested.

The author did a great job of keeping me guessing about who was behind the murder and mayhem. Ther

It's a far cry from Miami where Trinidad grew up but she decides to grab her dog and start fresh and open an ice cream shop. This won't be an ordinary ice cream shop but home to what Trinidad calls the Freakshake! Giant milkshake/sundae creations featuring her own homemade ice cream. Pint of No Return by Dana Mentink is a fantastic start to a new dessert cozy mystery!
With cozies I either enjoy the series because of how descriptive they are of the town and hobby or because of the great characters, and Mentink does great in both areas, but really shines in the character development.

Trinidad, Quinn, Doug and Noodles make a fantastic detecting team, and I wouldn’t mind a future romance with Trinidad and Quinn because Quinn seems like a wonderful man. Doug is on the spectrum, and

I LOVED IT. Everything your fun loving heart could ever want. Just such a good break between heavy books and such a good reminder of the books I read growing up that gave me my love for reading!!

The main character was adorable and I wanted to eat all of her ice cream the flavours sounded amazing. I also kept laughing at the fact that she was living in a small town with her ex husband (who was in jail)’s ex wives like absolutely ridiculous in no actual scenario do you get deeded a shop and move

Pint of No Return is an entertaining cozy mystery, the first book in a series.

At first it was hard to keep track of all of the characters and I kept confusing two of them, but after a while it became more interesting and I really liked the end. Oh, and of course, I adore Noodles, the dog!

** Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion. I read and reviewed this book voluntarily. **

Deeded the building by her louse of an ex- husband far from her native Miami, she relocated into a town where two other ex-wives live. Amazingly enough when she encounters one of the other wives, she really likes her. So much so that when Juliet is suspected for murder, Trinidad comes to the rescue to investigate. I love Dana Mentink's inspirational suspense books and since she is so good at those, I figured she'd be good at a cozy mystery, too. She is. This is not inspirational, but totally clean and wholesome. Trinidad Jones lives in the same small town as her conniving ex husband's other two ex wives. He is in jail, fortunately, for other crimes, so she doesn't have to look at him. Trinidad opens a shake shop and goes into business for herself. Then her business neighbor, a popcorn king, turns up dead ...more

Trinidad Jones is making a new life for herself in Upper Sprocket, Oregon. While this itself may not seem strange, living in the same small town as your ex-husbands previous wives does add a bizarre twist. When her embezzling ex was taken to prison, he gave Trinidad the deed to a small store.
With her head held high, Trinidad begins preparing the shop for her new business, the Shimmy and Shake Shop.
Trinidad has done her best to avoid the other ex wives, but when she meets Juliette, she feels a k

Series starters--especially for cozy mysteries--can be difficult to do well, since there is so much foundation necessary, but I think this one did a great job! Our main character, Trinidad, is one of three ex-wives of a crook, and she was deeded a business and is attempting to start anew after the schmuck is put in jail. Trinidad decides to open a "Freakshake" ice cream shop, only to discover her next door neighbor, the caramel corn king, dead in his vat of popcorn!

I love cozy mysteries and this book was a great start to a new series! I love beginning new cozy series because the authors always have such rich descriptions of the towns and characters- this book was no exception to that rule. The author did a wonderful job of making the characters so well developed that they felt real. This book was a light easy read, fun with a mystery and all of its twists and turns thrown in.
