"4- It's never easy doing the right thing - Stars!"

Publication Date: April 27, 2021

The Restless Cowboy is the first book that I've read by this author and the second book in the Granite Junction series.

I was quite surprised by this book.
Even though it started out slow, when it did pick up (and it did pick up) it turned out to be a good story.

The two main characters (Cam and Molly) are involved in a short-term, casual fling.
There is definitely chemistry and a strong attraction to one another, but both know that Cam is eventually leaving town to start a new life eight hours away.
His ranch is sold, and he's bought a new business.
He's finally FREE to do what he wants to do with his life.

But, when the last time Cam and Molly are intimate and a surprise pregnancy is a result, the characters both have to decide how to proceed and do what's best for themselves and the arrival of a baby.

I liked the conflict the male protagonist was facing between duty and responsibility, and I liked the strength and confidence of the female protagonist.

Both were likable characters and the story was well written.

If you're looking for a small-town, cozy western romance, then this book might be something you might like.

Cam has spent his life trying to make amends for his family legacy and looking after his sister. He has always put everyone else first and now it was supposed to his time until the curveball he receives from Molly that could change everything. What he and Molly shared was casual on both their parts and had an expiry date but that was before he found out he was going to be a father.

Molly gave up her dreams when she found herself a single mother and her ex-husband wasn’t prepared to be a father. Finding out she is pregnant was a surprise she wasn’t expecting but since Cam’s future plans don’t include her or this town and she is no damsel in distress she has no expectations when it comes to his role in her and their child’s life.

This is a touching story about love, family and realizing what and who is important in your life.

This is a standalone in a series and it does pretty well on its own. Cam's life is thrown in an upheaval when his on again off again fling, Molly ends up pregnant. Now he has to decide to do the right thing or pursue his own dreams for once. Its a great book with a lot of heart but it is a little slow in the beginning, stick with it. And bring your tissues you will need it. The story itself is beautiful and the characters are memorable. Bravo!!.

For me this was a return to a familiar place. Granite Junction was a place of a romance that I fell in love. Now, I am back to watch a man that has longed to leave the very small-town that may be the key to his forever and then some. Go take the journey to see if duty, love, life, or just a little something more makes the world in the tiny town of Granite Junction will become something for Cam this time around.

Cam and Molly’s love story in The Restless Cowboy by Megan Ryder, book two in her Granite Junction series, is a tale of trust, opening one’s heart, taking responsibility for one’s actions and learning the importance of compromise.

Cam Miller’s life was spent doing things because of decisions and actions of others, mainly his father. He turned their ranch around, making it profitable. He took care of his sister and provided for her. He stood tall and took the insults and blame thrown at him by the townspeople for the death of a young man; a death his father caused. Now that his sister is off to college, Cam can pursue the life he’s always dreamed of, away from Granite Junction. It only took was one night of passion with a secret fling to have him hitting the pause button; even if temporarily.

Molly Brennan was enjoying life as a rodeo trick rider until a failed marriage and pregnancy forced her home to Granite Junction to raise her baby. It’s been a few years, but Molly is happy running her own hair salon and raising her eight-year old daughter, Riley, alone. She is a strong, independent woman with no need for a man in her life. Indulging in some no-string fun with a handsome, sexy cowboy shouldn’t hurt or change things. When Molly discovers she is pregnant, she knows she can do this on her own, again, but first she knows it is only right to let Cam know.

Cam is not the type of man who walks away from responsibility, he is determined to be a part of his child’s life; except, he’s about to leave town for a new endeavor. Cam is torn between wanting Molly, who feels like home, and his need to break free, especially from Granite Junction. Molly struggles letting Cam go, while at the same time wanting to be in control of her life, not relying on anyone else. Molly has always been able to take care of herself, unable or unwilling to trust anyone to help her or take care of her. What she needs is to learn how to trust; that Cam has her and Riley’s best interest at heart. It will take some hard decisions and major planning, before Cam can follow his heart and Molly opens hers.

I loved this story; although it took a while for me to understand Molly. She appeared to be strong, independent, have an “I can do this myself” attitude, but deep down life was a struggle. Because she had done things by herself for so long she didn’t remember how to accept love and help. I loved Cam all along; hard not to enjoy a sexy cowboy. Cam was dealt a difficult life; one he faced by himself and dealt with; never sharing his burden. Cam and Molly were more alike than either realized, both needing to accept help from others and open up to not only share their love but to accept that together they made a better team than alone. The way Cam treated Riley, like a daughter, was precious and added not only to the story, but showed how important those in his life were to Cam; that Cam was not his father.

Ms. Ryder wrote a wonderful and heartwarming story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters giving Cam and Molly a chance for love, a family and a future together. I highly recommend The Restless Cowboy to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series.

This book offers a sweet and sexy romance between two people who have been hurt and abandoned by people they had loved. They have closed their hearts to even the possibility of love and a future with someone by their sides, but Fate or a higher power has something else in mind for Cam and Molly.

What started off as a passionate one night stand became a string of nights together meant to end as he left town to start anew in another location. Just before he leaves Granite Junction for good, Cam learns he is going to be a father. Molly informs him she will be okay on her own, after all she has raised her eight year old daughter by herself, but they can make arrangements for him to see his child after it is born. This does not sit well with Cam at all. Cam is an honourable man who always offers his help to those in need, and has raised his younger sister himself after his mother died and his father became a drunk. He has had to bear the brunt of the townspeople’s scorn and prejudice as a result of his father’s misdeeds, and was never offered help for raising his sister or trying to keep the ranch afloat. He will not be like his father. He wants to be present for both his child and Molly, but his new business is eight hours away. Truth be known, his one regret about leaving town after selling the family ranch was leaving Molly behind. She has stirred something within him that he won’t put a name to, but now that they have a baby on the way, Cam is determined to be around for Molly, the baby and her daughter too. He tries to show Molly with his actions that he means to be in her life and the baby’s by commuting back and forth between his new business and Granite Junction every weekend, and by doing repairs and cleaning jobs around her home to make things easier for her. Yet, Molly is loathe to let him in after being abandoned by her ex who stops by a few times a year ostensibly to see his daughter, but really for a handout. Cam and Molly seem to be make some headway, building a connection, but neither takes the step to talk about how they see their future with them based in two locations that are eight hours apart. He is feeling exhausted, torn between two places and two sets of people that are dear to him. He is also uncertain about Molly’s feelings and what role she see him playing in her future. Can these two people set aside their painful pasts and find the courage to choose love, each other and a future together?

I adored this book. Granite Junction is a spin-off from the Redemption Ranch series. While it is not necessarily to read the prior books, the characters make multiple appearances. Cam was a secondary character in the first book of this series but it is also not required to read BUT I would definitely recommend it as it was a wonderful story.

Cam Miller is finally able to sell the family ranch. He inherited the ranch basically at an early age. His father was still alive but became so depression as the passing of his wife, that he hit the bottle pretty hard. Cam had to learn the ranching business and raise his younger sister. When Cam’s father was coming home one night from the bar, he hit another car and killed a local teenager. He died shortly after going to prison and some town folks transferred their discontent to Cam. Now that Cam’s sister has graduated high school, she is off for culinary training. Cam is now free of the heavy burden of the ranch and can finally move away, eight hours away to Casper, WY. He purchased a leather works business from his mentor.

Right before his going away party, Cam is informed by Molly that she is pregnant with his baby! Molly is a divorced woman with a young daughter, Reilly. Molly’s ex really isn’t in the picture. Molly has raised her daughter on her own and she can raise the new baby as well. She doesn’t need Cam but she thought he needed to know before he left.

This story is one that just draws you in right from the beginning. I fell in love with the characters especially young Reilly. It was written in my favorite dual POV format. That really helped me to get a clearer picture of what the characters were thinking and feeling.

This book is sexy in some parts so I would only highly recommend this to someone over the age of 18.

This is the second book in the "Granite Junction" series but is so easily read as a standalone.
Cam Miller was free at last, he had sold the family ranch with all it's bad memories, he was going to do what he loved, he had bought a leather working business in Wyoming, eight hours away from Granite Junction, that was how he wanted it. Cam was a good man but half the town hated him, years ago his alcoholic father had killed a teenager after a drunken night out, the town wouldn't let Cam forget it.
Everything was good......until it wasn't, Molly Brennan with whom Cam had spent a few hot nights, dropped the bombshell that she was pregnant, Molly didn't want anything from Cam, she just wanted him to know....but Cam wasn't that kind of man.
Molly had been married to a rodeo rider but he rarely saw her or their eight year old daughter Riley and they were now divorced, Molly had a successful hairdressing salon, she had managed on her own before , she could do it again.
True to his word, Cam was there every weekend and at every appointment, their relationship was changing, the chemistry was pulling them both and he was getting close to Riley.
This story follows the turmoil of long distance relationships and the hardships that they face.
Can Molly let go of control and trust Cam not to run out on her? Could she risk another man walk out of Riley';s life ? Could the small town gossips ruin everything?
This is a lovely beautifully told.

I enjoyed this book immensely and I read it in one go. I loved this love story between Cam and Molly! I have not read book 1 (yet), but this book is also to be read as a stand-alone. Cam is almost free, from his family, his duty and responsibiblity and then life happened.
Cam Miller has spent most of his life bound by choices others made for him. He did what had to be done to provide for his little sister, and he doesn’t regret that. But now, with her off to college, he can finally put ranching behind him and pursue the life he’s always dreamed of... far from Granite Junction. But after one night of passion comes back to haunt him, he fears his hard-won freedom is only temporary . . .
Molly is very independent, from family, relationships, and especially matters of the heart, but then a few passionate nights and a broken condom happened…
Molly Brennan was living her best life as a rodeo trick rider until a failed marriage forced her from the arena. Now she’s perfectly fine running her own hair salon and raising her daughter solo. She doesn’t need a man, but what could it hurt to indulge in a little no-strings fun with a sexy cowboy?
When Molly realizes she’s pregnant, she pulls herself up by her bootstraps. She's handled things this far on her own and she can do it again, although she’s finding it isn’t so easy to let Cam go. But Cam’s not the kind of man who shirks responsibility. Finding himself torn between a woman who feels like home and his need to break free, where will Cam’s heart lead him?

Cam Miller was finally free! He sold his family ranch and can now escape his family's troubled past. His sister is off at culinary school so there is nothing holding him in Granite Junction he can finally follow his dream in Wyoming owning a business making leather pieces.

Molly a single mom who owns a salon in Granite Junction has some big news, after a few fun nights with Cam this past summer she is pregnant. She struggles with telling Cam because she does not want to hold him back from leaving but feels it's the right thing to do. Molly is scared to let anyone in as her 8 year old daughter Riley's dad abandoned them after she was born to compete in Rodeos.

Cam is excited and a little scared himself to be a dad, afraid he will turn out like his father. He decides to come home to Granite Junction each weekend to help Molly with her pregnancy and be there for her, but it is an 8 hour drive and he is exhausted he knows he will have to make a decision about his new business and involvement with Molly and the baby.

He can see a future with her but can he have both? Will their chemistry and passion be enough to bring them together?

These characters drew me in very early and I found myself flipping pages to see where they go.

Cam and Molly, a few hot nights and a broken condom. Cam’s been trying to leave Granite Junction for years to escape the sins of his father and the wagging tongues that blame him for those sins. An unexpected pregnancy threatened to put a monkey wrench in those plans and makes leaving Granite Junction to follow his dream of a new life just a little more difficult. Molly has been taking care of herself and her daughter for years, does she really want to let Cam help? Can she risk letting him into her heart and that of her daughter?

As usual Ms Ryan weaves a spell making the reader become fully involved with her characters. Characters who seem exactly like people you’d meet in the course of real life. The human emotions of her characters mirror emotions that any one in love might feel.

It’s well worth the read and leaves the reader hopeful there will be a return to Granite Junction.

Like everything else the author has written about Granite Junction, this book is an emotional roller-coaster that pulled me in from the very first words. Cam and Molly as a couple remind me so much of the old joke about how porcupines mate. Both of them have tall, reinforced defences in place. And while it’s frustrating, it’s also fascinating to watch them lowering those guards. Like his cousin, I think Cam was far to willing to take the blame for things that weren’t his to ‘own’, and I really appreciated the way his friends and family go about showing him the error of his ways. I loved Molly in equal measure to how badly I wanted to shake sense into her. Thankfully, those same friends and family were perfectly willing to extend the same service to Molly. My heart broke for this little family every time things were rocky, but when it was smooth sailing, my heart sighed with delight. I kind of don’t care who’s story will be the next to be told, I just want to read it.

I felt for Cam and Molly and what they bother had to sort out as individuals.

This book was in so much. My heart really felt for Cam, after what he had to endure from when his mother had passed and the way his father enjoyed the bottle more than his children. I mean, what can a child feel when even though their parent is there in body but is absent in mind and doesn't really see his children at all. So Can was doing what he had always done. Made sure he was alone, didn't love, didn't do relationships and brought his sister up when their dad passed. What he didn't expect was Molly. Wow. She was such a strong person. Even after being a single parent for so long after her husband at the time felt more for the Rodeos he competed in than his family. A sudden suprise though could detail everything Cam has set up. With ex's, parents and friends getting involved it's a wonder how Molly kept her head. She had my up most respect with how she handled things, especially at thanksgiving when her ex, parents and Cam where in the same room. I have to admit I cried stone part. Talk about being crushed. Loved this book and can't wait for any others that may be in this series.

Cam grew up in Granite Junction, but he hates the town and can't wait to leave. His sister is grown up and at culinary school, he's sold their ranch and has agreed to take over his mentors leatherwork business. He can't wait to leave the town that still judges him for his fathers mistakes.
Unfortunately, leaving town won't be as easy for Cam to achieve when he finds out the girl he's been seeing is pregnant.
Molly is a divorced single mom who has been seeing Cam off and on. When she finds out she is pregnant, she wants to make sure he knows but makes him aware she doesn't expect anything from him until after the baby is born as she knows he's leaving town.
But Cam is not one to leave his family and that is just what Molly and her daughter have become since she is pregnant with his baby.
Now Cam and Molly need to work out what their future will look like, will Cam be able to stay 8 hours away in his new job or will he stay in the town he hates to be around for Molly?

I really enjoyed this story, it took a while to get into as I hadn't read any of the previous books but I would recommend it.

Cam was so close to finally moving on from Granit junction, like hours away and then Molly drops a bombshell now Cam is torn about what to do with his new business and to be there for Molly and their unborn baby. Both Cam and Molly are strong and independent people, but at times to the detriment to themselves and each other as well as to what they need to work through. You feel for both of them as they also have pasts they need to work through in order to move forward and I will be honest at times I got frustrated with Molly and her stubborness as well as just wanting them to see how great they are together. There are some good laughs, frustration, tender moments as well as hope and a chance at having a happy ever after that both Cam and Molly deserve.

This book definitely put my heart through the wringer with its blend of intense emotions, tension, drama, inner turmoil and romance. I found myself really pulled into this story of family, painful pasts, future desires and present responsibilities. Overall, I enjoyed this book. The chemistry was great and the feels plentiful. I just had a couple pet peeves with it and felt some frustration towards the characters. I will say that I liked Cam a lot and I surely felt for him. As for Molly, it was kind of a split decision. I thought she had her moments but mostly she just irked me. This is my unbiased and unsolicited review.

I couldn't help but be angry at Molly for not getting the morning after pill just in case when the condom broke. I feel her not doing that meant she wanted the baby from her friends with benefits relationship despite Cam's plans to move.. SMH!!! Molly was non stop snippy and acted Iike a dictator. She blew hot and cold and constantly pushed Cam away giving him mixed messages. Grrr.... Cam was a saint to put up with her antics and to take her back.
I was happy most people in small town USA were changing their minds about Cam and saw his good qualities and extreme value.

I love it when a writer has a strong independent woman as a main character. So many times a character like Molly is written as, not really a weak person, but someone who moans about what life has thrown at her. In this case, Molly has struggled for so long as a single parent that she can’t accept Cam’s love. She just doesn’t trust it to be there long term.

Cam is a man that has always stepped up to take care of of others. He’s stayed in Granite Falls to take care of his sister & make their ranch profitable. Now is supposed to be his time to travel & leave his hometown behind. When a fling with Molly leaves consequences, it takes him a while to accept it. Now he has to show Molly he’s serious.

The Restless Cowboy by Megan Ryder is the second book in her Granite Junction series and a wonderful fun, banter filled and deeply heartfelt story of a man who has always done the responsible thing and a woman hell bent on going it alone. Cam and Molly have been “friends with benefits” but an unexpected surprise will make Cam re-evaluate his life plans and see Molly faced with a determined and unrelenting irresistible beau. Ms Ryder certainly knows how to incorporate sassy and fun with some drama and a lot of deep emotion too. Cam and Molly make a formidable couple, but will the chemistry they can’t deny be enough to build a lasting relationship? I guess you’ll need to find out for yourself, as what fun is it to know the outcome before you enjoy the journey!

Cam is finally free of the small town and is on his way out to do his own thing. Being tied to a place he never wants to be again. But when Molly the woman he's been having fun with drops the bomb that she's pregnant, Cam now has to figure out what to do. Torn between wanting to be there for Molly and his baby and the freedom he so desperately needs he will have to decide what is best. Molly is an adorable hairstylist who has worked so hard to give her daughter a good life and to show she's strong enough to be a good mom, business owner, and friend. Now she's pregnant again, but she won't allow Cam to ruin his dreams because of it. She knows she can do this by herself. Does she wants to no way, but she will because that's the mom she is. I totally fell in love with these two. Find out what Cam decides.

Responsibility and emotion wage a war on the heart. Cam and Molly spice up the senses with an electricity that feels almost as lethal as the heartache headed their way. Ryder takes on life, love and dreams with a sense of purpose. From fiery chemistry to heartbreaking choices, The Restless Cowboy fights it's way through loves stereotypical fairytale of happily every after to show the lasting impression of soulful romance.

After getting to know Cam in the previous book, I wasn’t surprised by his willingness to do whatever he could for not just Molly but for Riley as well. He wasn’t going to let a mere eight hour drive keep him from helping Molly through their unexpected pregnancy. But she certainly didn’t help things by constantly pushing him away.
I really wanted to love the pairing of Molly and Cam more than I did, but Molly made it difficult. While I definitely respect the fact that she’s an independent single mother, as well as a businesswoman, she just couldn’t give Cam an inch. She grew on me slowly, but she put him through the ringer.
I still very much enjoyed their slow burn romance, though, and thought Riley was simply darling. I love that Cam met his match and got the happily ever after that he deserves.

Cam thought he was finally cutting all ties with a town that blamed him for his father's actions until Molly tells him she's pregnant from their casual fling. I thought she pushed him away way too much in this book. I can't imagine driving eight hours each way to see her every weekend. He must have been exhausted. Yes, he made mistakes, but he was doing the best he could. I liked her book and horse loving daughter Riley who was happy to spend time with Cam. I loved the the idea of his custom leather working business and his new business manager sounds like a bold young guy who might even find his own romance in a future book. There were plenty of funny moments in the book and also some emotional ones.

The Restless Cowboy is a small town romance starring Cam and Molly. Cam is on his way out of town to finally pursue his own dreams. Molly is a single mom who is very independent and perfectly happy on her own. Or so she says. She finds out she's pregnant with Cam's child. She doesn't expect any obligation from Cam. However, Cam is conflicted between doing what's right and what he thinks he wants in life.

I really enjoyed this book way more than I thought I would. The writing was solid with good conflict and a story that sucked me in and made me keep reading until the end. I love reading about down to earth, characters that struggle to find their much deserved happily ever after. I can't wait for this author's next book.
I was given an ARC in return for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
