I think audiobooks and I just don't mix well.

My mind drifted off so many times. How did you guys do this?

Anyhow, sweet, short, straightforward and as always with KWeb, it was also fithy dirty. I feel okay with it, not exactly mind blown by the typical plot. It was an okay read.

This is another hot, short story by K. Webster! I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

The book is about Layne and Carter, step siblings who are both 18 years old. Layne is dating Jenkins, but every move she makes is arched toward Carter. And Carter wants nothing else but to possess his sister.

I love his deep yearning, longing and possessive nature towards Layne. And I love how in tune the both are to each other.

When they finally give in and kiss, Lucas (Layne's younger brother), sees them kissing. At first nothing happens. And their relationship develops quick, hot and fast. Until Lucas slips up and accidentally tells their dad what happened.

I really loved this one. So much that I hoped it was full length book. But even though it was short, I still loved it with whole my heart!

My favorite part was when he said “as soon as her cunt opens like a silky rose, one glistening petal at a time” because all I could picture was her pussy opening up like the Demogorgon's head in Stranger Things.

This book is about a two 18-year old stepsiblings, Carter and Layne. Carter is the bad boy, Layne is the pageant princess. She also has a boyfriend who Carter hates. It's the classic bad-boy-good-girl situation and I thought I would eat it up...

"I'm the dark to her light. The devil to her angel. Bad to her good. But despite that, she seems to like me anyway."

...But I didn't really like this book. They've both had feelings for each other for forever, yet slept with other people. I'm not into that. I was told K. Webster was a fabulous smut writer and I didn't get anyyyything spicy spicy in this book. :(

I love the verbal dedication the hero has for the heroine though- he truly loves her and it shows. This book also shows him turning from a bad guy into a good one.

"Where she's pure and untarnished, I'm like the black plague, infecting everything in my path. But not her. Never her. She might get tainted by me, but I'd never hurt or ruin her. I'd die before I let that happen."

Short and sweet stepsibling romance by my favorite author! It was nice to see the family dynamic take (what I assume is) a realistic stance on their relationship, even if it did break my heart as it was happening. I love that they got their HEA, and can easily see myself doing this book over and over.

I listened to this book on Read Me Romance and liked it ok.
K Webster is known for forbidden and she definitely hit that one. These kids had been a family since they were preteens and they are around 18 now, so it was a bit uncomfortable because of that aspect, but was ok. The one thing that kept bugging me was when he kept talking about his sister and then added 'step' right after. Silly, but bugged me.
Told all from the stepbrother's POV and was a definite fast paced K Webster book. Wondering what she could've done with it being longer.

Love the step sibling trope and this was great a short story. It only drove me crazy that every time he referred to his stepsister he would say it like this ‘I love my sister. Step.’ Drove me insane. You could do a drinking game off of how many times he did that and be totally drunk afterwards his did it so often. Otherwise, it was another awesome story from read me romance podcast.

Characters: Lane and Carter

This is a step sibling romance. It was a novella.

I didn’t like the attitude of the whole story where having sex with your STEP sibling is wrong. They aren’t related by blood, so what’s the fucking big deal?

The whole story wasn’t taboo or anything bad. It’s two 18 year olds who are attracted to each other and who aren’t related. They say it’s “scandalous”. It’s not.

The guy was a bad boy for having tattoos 😂 that isn’t terrible, he got into some fights. He seemed like a pretty good kid.

I really liked this short taboo story. It was entertaining and enjoyable with a few exceptions. The characters were interesting and likable although I would have liked more development. The story is told from Carter's point of view which is different but I wish we could have gotten some of Lane's point of view as well. The step-sibling thing didn't bother me. I was kind of wrecked for Carter, Lane, and Lucas. I liked how the story ended but I REALLY wish there was an epilogue further out. I recommend listening to this audiobook (podcast) yourself. Keep an open mind and enjoy.

For a book being only 5 chapters, I really enjoyed Step-Scandal. I would've LOVED it if it was a full length novel though. In those chapters I fell and sympathized for the characters, and I even found myself crying. If this little book brought out those things, I can't imagine what more chapters would've done.

I listened to this on Read Me Romance.

So this felt like deja vu because all throughout the first half of this book it felt familiar. Then it got to a part I kept thinking about and I knew I had listened to it before. I KNEW I forgot to add one of the RMR episodes I listened to last year. Funny that I have only listened to a handful of the books on there and I picked one I already listened to.

This was ok. You can only do so much in a 2 hour story, but I didn't love the ending so much. He's supposed to be a bad boy but he ends up crying in the back of his step mom's car when she picks him up. It made him seem a lot more like the child he was and all I could think was, he had no business doing what he did to his step sister the day before. So it left me feeling a little gross.

Set in a small town in Hawk’s County.

Carter Brightly is the town bad boy. He runs and skateboards. When he’s not in juvie, Carter likes to show off his V-cut. And his chest tattoos.

Carter’s father is wealthy, and his step-mother is influential. They’ve done their best to keep him out of trouble.

Layne Hunt is Carter’s (step) sister. Layne plays volleyball and wins beauty pageants. Her mother is a cop, and she’s very strict.

K-Web captures that insular, rural vibe so well. And it helps that most of this story is from the male POV.

Finally, Carter and Layne get a weekend to themselves.

Carter’s awesome and meaningful tattoos. Their endearing—and kinda bizarre—nicknames for one another…Good variety in the action.

Surprisingly unique (but, yes, happy) ending. Nora is the mother Carter always needed.

* Ilistened to this novella on Read Me Romance’s podcast (highly recommend that channel, which is by authors Alexa Riley. Tons of audiobooks on there!)* Super quick novella about a step brother & step sister that flirt like crazy with each other while hiding their true feelings and how much they love each other. Short & spicy with a few good 🌶 scenes.

I do have to say, after reading so many taboo romances (including the extreme taboo romances by K Webster herself), I kinda roll my eyes at their inner turmoil about loving someone that they’re not even blood related to. IMO it’s no different that being in love with your best friend who grew up next door and you hung out everyday.

Still a 5 ⭐️ story even if he was overly dramatic lol

Okay so I had to force myself to listen to this book. One because I’m not a big fan of the stepbrother trope. Also, the narration was…not great. It was stilted and really hard to listen too. And, if I remember correctly, I think I usually like this narrator. On the other hand I like the exclusive male PIV. That’s always fun. This book wrapped up pretty but still feels lacking since no epilogue, nothing as to how anyone else reacts since that was a big part of this story. Overall okay. Not terrible but not my cup of tea.

K is my favorite novella writer, hands down. She masterfully introduces her characters; in a short amount of time, we know they are, their motivations, and get some major spice.

Carter is the “devil” with tattoos, v-muscles, and “a charming f***ing smile.”

Layne is the “angel” who is a sweet, beautiful “pageant princess.”

Carter has always loved and had sinful thoughts about his sister. (step) He’s always had a soft spot for Layne and I melt for a bad boy willing to change for the girl he loves.

This taboo, spicy novella is a quick read. My only critique is that I wish there was more!

-It always hits when the MMC is obsessed with Fmc. I love how possessive Carter was about Layne. It felt short and too fast-paced for me, I wanted it a bit longer. I didn't quite get or understand the characters but I enjoyed Carter Pov. I also didn’t expect Luca to tell their dad that he saw Carter and Layne kissing a twist I did not see coming. Overall I enjoyed the chemistry between Layne and Carter, it was undeniable.

K Webster does Taboo romance like no other. She takes seriously taboo subjects that most people are afraid to talk about, explore etc and turns them into something that actually means something. It’s not always socially acceptable but these stories exist and pretending that they don’t isn’t going to yield positive results. If History has taught us anything we should know by now that the more you tell people that something is wrong and they shouldn’t do it the more curiosity and intrigue will surround it and cause people to push those boundaries.

Step Scandal follows Carter and Layne, two step-siblings who are super close and best friends. Carter is a bit of a bad boy. Uncaring of what anyone thinks of him (except for Layne) he doesn’t exactly follow rules and winds up getting into trouble quite a bit.
When Layne and her boyfriend break up and she and Carter find themselves alone in the house for the entire weekend the tension is high and the feelings are hot.
After suppressing their feelings for so long they’ve decided to go ahead and explore the feelings they have for one another and figure it out along the way.

Will they be able to keep their secret? Or will their newfound relationship threaten to tear their Family apart?

Although they know they shouldn't be together, life presents them with an opportunity they couldn't pass up.
They may be step siblings, but they are best friends that hold a love for one another that only soulmates could know.

If you're wanting to read a short (1 hour maybe), forbidden, insta love then this is definitely for you

This felt like every other forbidden step-sibling romance and I enjoyed it so much! This trope is one where if you’ve read one you’ve pretty much read them all. Carter’s Dad marries Layne’s mom and Carter and Layne fall for each other. Layne is dating someone else and Carter hates him. That’s all I’m going to say. It’s a super quick read and I enjoyed it.

I read it with my eyeballs but for some reason the ebook listing isn’t on here.

Not for me. Too cutesy. And I know the h and H are 18/teenagers but they definitely acted their ages with how they spoke and it didn’t go well with the smut. The H referring to the h’s bf as a doofus made me cringe lol who says that. Def took me out of the story and felt like it was a child saying/thinking that. H wasn’t as OTT as I typically prefer.
