I have always been interested in geology and the rock formations So what better place to start is my hoe state of Wyoming.
The book follows the major highways and the sights that you can see from the road--the different formations and the descriptions of each layer. There is also the timing of when the layers were put down and explanations of geologic terms.
This is a good book for the budding geologist. The only downside is that there are not any colored photos to see what the actual rock layers look like since some look a lot like others.
I need to do Wyoming field trip to understand better all the geology of the land. To see and read is better than just reading…although this book is an inspiration to get out and see “Wonderful Wyoming.”
I found this guide less useful than others in the series because it didn’t use mile markers or sometimes even city names. Without a topographical familiarity with the state already it was often hard to orient myself while driving.
