About the author

Sue, an early pioneer in the Etiquette Consulting Industry has been providing etiquette products, group training and private consultations to business professionals, corporations, and educational institutions since 1996 with her company, The Etiquette Survival Group. Prior to that, she was employed in the tech industry with ten years experience in sales and marketing and event planning for Apple Computer, Inc. Sue has traveled extensively and is well acquainted with various international cultures and has provided train-the-trainer programs nationally and internationally.

Sue is the author of Modern Etiquette For Dummies, Business Etiquette For Dummies, and Wedding Etiquette For Dummies. Sue's belief that civility and etiquette should be the basis for everything we do, both in our personal and professional lives, is what has driven her passion for the subject. It's that passion that has inspired her to want to share the basic principles of etiquette and kindness with the world and teach others how to succeed doing the same.

Sue is the mother of two grown sons and three grandsons, Joseph, Michael, and Noah Fox. In her free time she enjoys gardening and visiting the beautiful beaches on the Central Coast of California.

I got two mails on goodreads from the same guy the other day. The first was a marriage proposal. The second was the friends request. Seriously. Surely part of the modern guide to manners should include this basic point. Friends request first, then marriage proposal. Possibly rethink the proposal if the friends request is turned down.

And do I need to state the obvious? You are a much better chance if you've voted for one of my reviews. Fair dos.

Having said that, I do admire the way Ayub came straight to the point. None of this Victorian dilly dallying for him. The subject of his proposal was 'marry' and the text said just this:

Hi how r u can we marry
ayub

I dunno, Ayub. I'm throwing this one out to my friends on goodreads. What are friends for if not to give caring advice at such a time as this?

The next thing is for all bots to read. I was once described as 'blatantly heterosexual' by a girl who wanted to try it on. So, to all the dyke bots out there, please stop, I'm not going to change. Of course, male bots are welcome. But you'd be best off following the procedure described in paragraph one.

A great reference with some good reminders as to how to treat others thoughtfully and with respect. It's always nice to know which fork to use and where to put the water glass as well (in case I get invited to dine at the White house or something :)

A great reference book but also a great conversation piece in any visible location!
This book will either confirm that you were taught etiquette well during your formative years, that you need a refresher course, or that you should take a lesson from the author. Good etiquette is truly timeless.
Some guidelines may seem dated, but more often people have become too casual in their relationships with strangers or in the workplace.
A must have for parents, especially getting the kids ready to leave the nest in the future.
I tended to get some sideways glances when keeping at a desk job, but it does cover office politics, so it stayed tucked in my reference book shelf. It was not meant to be a trigger item.
