What can I say? It's Little Critter, one of the best characters I've ever read in a children's series. He's sarcastic, he tells fibs, and he's always a bit awkward, but has the best intentions.

In this particular book, he's trying to help his little sister get to sleep by doing things that wouldn't make me very sleepy, like having a meal and playing a game, only to end up not being sleepy himself! This was particularly great because he solves his problem by snuggling up with mom and dad, which is exactly the way my own son solves his "I can't sleep" problems. Minus the dad, though.

I have always loved Little Critter books! I especially like the illustrations and the fun details that are in the pictures. This is a great chapter book for students just starting to read longer books. I really enjoyed how, at the end of the book, there are skills and practice activities for the students to do.

How precious is it to find a storybook to help children to understand the relationships between siblings. Little Critter's baby sister can't sleep so she goes to him. He does everything he can think of to help her sleep. Even climbing in bed with her. And so after he gets her to get to sleep he can't get back to sleep. Very well written "First Readers Level 3 grades 1-3" book.

Short enough for a just-before-bed read!
