Really it's the illustrations that make the series so much fun. Look at the eyes, the body language, so vibrant & appealing. Not to diss the text, though; it's hard to write a leveled reader so well. In this episode the back matter is Pupper's guide to being a hero. I'm not 100% behind every suggestion, but overall I do appreciate letting kids know that they can be heroes just by showing up, being kind, being persistent.
Although, on a larger note, since when is it considered heroic just to be a decent person? And why are sports stars and celebrities considered heroes when they're often not decent people? This is a conversation you probably want to actually have with your children....

First sentence: In a sweet spot of sun, Doggo dozed. In a fine patch of dirt, Pupper dug. Life was good.
Premise/plot: Doggo and Pupper--a lovable duo--are back in their second book. Pupper wishes he could be a hero, but, fears that he's not hero-material. Together these two will end up being heroes to a baby bird.
My thoughts: I LOVE these two dogs so much. The story is cute, adorable, sweet, playful, fun, and probably predictable. But when there's so much to love, do I mind a predictable book? Not at all. I hope these two star in many more books. If you have a young reader ready for early chapter books, this series is great. I love the illustrations and the text.

Pupper is worried about things like giant squirrels and wishes he could be a brave super hero. Doggo decides to distract him with music. When the two go to the park to catch a music show, they find a baby bird in need. Can they be heroes?
The art style in these books is just adorable. And the giant squirrel illustration made me laugh. Doggo and Pupper are fun to hang out with, and I liked that they chose being heroes over their own entertainment. The cat who lives with them provides some great comedic bits along the way.

This is the second book in the Doggo and Pupper series and I like this one even more than the first! Doggo is older and wiser; Pupper is younger and still has a lot to learn but he has a good heart! And Doggo is very encouraging - he knows that Pupper worries a lot and does his best to reassure the young pup that he won't be attached by giant squirrels, he can learn to play the drums, and his care for a baby bird does indeed make him a super hero dog!

Ha sido increíble poder sumergirme en las páginas de este pequeño libro para conocer a Perro y Cachorro, dos personajes mega adorables que aprenden y descubren el mundo de la mano. Me encantó la calidad de la edición, sus ilustraciones y que haya otros personajes, como Michi, que añaden un toque divertido a la historia. Es un libro aún con poco texto, para aquellos que van empezando a leer pero que ya no son tan pequeños y quieren historias más atrapantes y desarrolladas.

Pupper wants to be a hero and discovers just how to do it.
With full color pages,the pictures and text are very inviting. Doggo is such a sweet older dog to Pupper. I liked how Pupper learned to sacrific to be of help to the baby bird. The very last page has an easy to read list of practical ways to be a hero.

92 pgs. This is another book in a fun easy chapter book. This time Doggo and Pupper decide to find some excitement in their own backyard by watching the birds. Pupper wants to be a superhero like the one he watches on TV. Kids will love to read this one. Funny illustrations throughout. Highly recommended for Grades 1-3.

Really cute short chapter book for beginner readers with lots of super cute pictures. It's a little pup who wants to be a hero and is scared of things in the world. It talks about the meaning of heroes and gives ways for children to be "heroes " in their own right.

5 stars. Absolutely adorable! Love how well the pets get along, especially calming Pupper’s worries and gently encouraging him in the ways he can be a hero, a list of ways included in the back. Love the full color illustrations in this easy chapter book.

I love how pupper puts helping others ahead of his own entertainment. And I love the suggestions on how to be a super hero on the back page. Following those suggestions, we can all be the best kind of superheroes. Looking for a book that teaches good values? I can recommend this one.
