Day Hanly laid a shovel across his daddy's head and then quit the farm with John Tillet. But it wasn't long before they parted company. The path that Tillet chose led him to an embattled group of German farmers, trying to forge a community despite their hostile native Texan neighbours. Day takes the left-hand path which could lead only to damnation. However, when their paths cross again, Tillet, the man of the law, will come up against Day, the outlaw...
Pretty good standard Western story. Nothing terribly remarkable about it, however. The characters are mostly fairly one-dimensional and only one of them seems to really show any form of character development, however little. But it's a good short read and I felt it has a satisfying ending.
