Roman Reynolds needs a housekeeper and Ezra Powell is arguably the best. Despite their rocky start, Ezra is determined to set Roman’s house to rights without any distractions, if only the man would keep his shirt on and stop looking so damn handsome all the time.

An ex-NFL player and confirmed bachelor, Roman has been on a long losing streak when it comes to men. When his b

This one is totally on me.🙊🙉🙈
I should have listened to the author, but I was stubborn and wanted to try.

A SOFT TOUCH is a sweet and steamy 73K MM romance novel with low angst, lots of cuddles, and a bonafide happy ending. Content warning for ableism.

This was the most beautiful, super romantic narrative!

One day there was a young man at Roman’s doorstep who said he came for the job. Roman asks him inside and even though there was no job, he let Ezra claimed it nevertheless.

Ezra is the fresh breeze Roman never knew he needed. The sweet, shy guy who works and lives extraordinarily organized and brings the needed structure into Roman’s life.

As Roman’s housekeeper Ezra is dedicated to his tasks, he doesn’t need distractions around, like the bea

You’ll like this fine if:

You enjoy being teased with what feels like promises of a great D/s relationship in the beginning, but don’t get anything like that until the last couple of pages.

You enjoy reading no angst books and like being left on-hold waiting for even the tiniest bit of conflict or drama after feeling like the seeds for the freaking drama were planted (read: privacy cams, sexy pix, videos, homophobia in the South, et al.)

Enjoyed this one up until the point that sex got involved, and then it seemed to take over the I'd suspected it would. Daddy/boy kink is definitely not my favourite [I probably wouldn't have pre-ordered the story if I'd known], and I found myself wishing for the early days of Ezra and Roman's relationship, when it was just an opposites attract/age gap/interracial 'romance', focusing on Ezra's quirks due to him being on the 'Spectrum'. 3.25 stars. ...more

Y'all, this book was so sweet! It's a low-angst, boss/employee age-gap romance. Roman is a retired NFL player turned restaurant owner that is introduced to Ezra via his best friend who currently has Ezra as his housekeeper. Ezra is a young, neurodivergent super genius that loves cleaning and space and is just oh so sweet. The change between them becoming boss/employee to friends to more is beautiful. I loved how patient Roman is when getting Ezra to try new things. And the dirty talk and

In general I gravitate more around angsty and dark books, but now and then I like to try more wholesome stories for a change. Unfortunately, it seems like I never manage to find the right book for me when I’m in this mood. So, when I started this book, a low-angst story by an author I’ve never read before, I was quite nervous. The first chapters I was still dubious whether I’d like or not. But then I couldn’t pu

Sweet and sexy with autistic and POC representation

I love romance novels with neurodivergent characters and this book is the perfect example of why. As a ND person myself, it’s so comforting to read a story where one character has qualities that some people might be put off by, like not having a filter, being very blunt, needing things done a certain way, sensory issues, and the other character loves them and is patient and accommodating and understanding. Roman was so sweet and amazing with Ez
I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.

What a cute, sweet, delicious book that was.

This, for me, was the perfect palate cleanser.

Why read this book…

- Biracial MCs…
Roman: Black former QB turned restaurant owner who is SUPER POSSESSIVE and SUPER JEALOUS... #MachoMan
Ezra: White twinky cute neuro-diverse genius college student moonlighting as a housemaid …. #Layers

- Sexy outfits, cute costumes and “deep cleaning” in more ways than one. #PerfectBlend

- Relationship driven

This was my first read by this author, so I wasn't sure what to expect. This book kept popping up in all my book "Rec" facebook groups, so I moved it to the top of my TBR list. I'm so glad I did! Warning: Don't start this book if you have to be somewhere, such as work. I started this book at night, before bed, and I couldn't put it down, and read way too late into the night. I regret nothing.

First, I would like to say this book is sweet. If you are in the mood for an angsty, dark read, this isn

This was a mostly sweet, opposites attract romance, between two very different men who thoroughly appreciate each other's perspectives and approaches.
Roman is a Black gay ex NFL player who is now owner of several restaurants. Ezra is a white gay college student who is working as a house cleaner on the side who ends up becoming his live in housekeeper. Ezra is autistic, and some of the strongest parts of the book are in how Roman sits down to work with him in a v non-dramatic way and appreciates

This was a very sweet story. Maybe too sweet and cuddly at times, but I enjoyed that. What made it hard for me to rate it was that there were things that I absolutely loved about it, and then there were things that I didn't.

I loved the characters. I adored Ezra. He is such an amazing character and the way he was written felt very authentic. I loved Roman for being so understanding and for doing everything he did for Ezra. They were perfect together. I loved watching their relationship develop na

I don't generally read fluffy contemporary romance because it almost never hits the mark for me, but this book was different. I loved the slow burn, and more importantly the slow burn made sense in the context of the story. That is to say, the plot isn't slow because of misunderstandings or miscommunication. The characters simply need time to adjust, and that's what they do while still loving each other. When they finally get together, my first thought wasn't, "Ah, finally, we're done with the c ...more

This is the perfect lighthearted, low-angst, contemporary romance that will give you all the warm fuzzy feels. Ezra and Roman are just adorable together! Roman has been burned by his previous relationships, but it doesn’t take him long to realise the sweet, innocent, and perfectly quirky Ezra will never belong on that list. Gahhh, the protective and possessive vibes he felt for his Ezra were delicious! What I really liked was the fact that they come together slowly as their feelings develop orga ...more

This was my first read by Laura Lascarso and it was a truly enjoyable, feel good love story!

Roman is a confirmed bachelor, unlucky in love, yet extremely successful in his business ventures. Ezra is looking for extra work as a house cleaner, devoted to his college career and extremely detailed in his day to day life.

What starts out as an employer/employee relationship of Ezra cleaning Roman's house, slowly morphs into so much more. I loved the development of their friendship, the questions they

It's not so much that I don't like it, so much that it's a huge, resounding 'meh'. Nothing happens.

And did you know that Roman is Black (though the author uses lowercase, 'black')? I sure wouldn't have known if it wasn't explicitly stated. That cover model is pretty white looking to me. I'll give you Greek, maybe, looking like a modern day King Leonidas. Was it a marketing choice? Bad enough when your cover model looks nothing like the character's description... worse when your POC ch

This book was AMAZING. I’ve never read a book by this author, so I wasn’t sure what to expect going in, but the blurb sounded promising. Boy, did it deliver!

Both characters are so very lovable in their own ways, and so perfect for each other. I loved Ezra’s Serious Talks when he needed to discuss things. There was very little angst, just the joy of watching these two men navigate new waters together. Lots of humor too. I was flooding my book chat with snippe

Wow I absolutely loved this! Could not put it down. This is my first book by Laura Lascarso, but it will definitely not be my last. I was engrossed from the first page and couldn't stop reading. This book was just the sweetest kind of romance with a very nice side of steam with some smoking hot dirty talk for dessert!

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.25 stars

As this book opens, we get a glimpse of Roman and where he is in life currently and we also get a feel for Ezra. Ezra has been housekeeping for Roman’s friend, Jay, and Jay may have some ulterior motives when he sends Ezra to Roman. The beginning of this book has a bit of a porn movie set up feel to it and it didn’t work for me. Ezra is smaller than the two football players and Jay sends Ezra to clean Roman’s house in short shorts and a tight-fitting football jer

This is one of the best books I have ever read. The author portrayed the autistic character with respect. His autism is an important aspect of his character, but the author does not infantilize him or use him for inspiration p@rn. The other character treats him with love and respect and only seeks to understand and love him, not change him.

It’s so refreshing because so many times when autistic characters are portrayed in books, it’s as “look how far he’s come! He can do so much in spit

Just Delightful

I loved everything about this story. Everything. I am not usually one for a slow burn, but it was necessary and right here. (One could even argue that it wasn’t that slow of a burn, more like two forces slowly navigating toward an inevitable conclusion.) Roman and Ezra absolutely complimented one another. I adored the way Roman was with Ezra. Thoughtful and sweet, sexy and soft at times. Ezra was methodical and logical, rational and direct. Watching these two come together was an

Sweet characters and respectful representation!

I’ll start off with saying I wasn’t a fan of the whole Ezra wearing a skimpy outfit while cleaning thing. (This is in the first chapter, so not a spoiler.) It felt a little too much like taking advantage of Ezra’s gullibility and Roman was never honest about his intentions up front.

Otherwise, I really loved this book. It was very sweet and romantic, full of patience and understanding, and had zero angst. Ezra and Roman are lovely together. And the d

This book really made me think, and I like that a lot... I’ve read books with spectrum MC’s before, and they’ve been been great about empowering and celebrating those qualities that make them unique. This had a few scenes that made me stop with a clutch of unease, but then gently pointed out I wouldn’t question them if Ezra wasn’t on the spectrum...

So, overall a good general M/M romance that I enjoyed, but better because of the subtle challenge to re-examine ableism and even race. The almost aft

Such a good read!

I loved this one. The pace of the story was perfect, I feel like many authors feel the need to narrate every single day of their characters lives, but this book spans over a year, without a single jarring jump ahead in time. It flows naturally, and grows into a flawless portrayal of two flawed, kind, smart, beautiful men. I loved how Ezra’s autism wasn’t an in-your-face device used by the author for shock and awe. Instead it was a very realistic portrayal of the q

Love the chapter titles, editing and publishing are high quality, which is rarely seen in self-published works. I could've used a little more warning on POV switches but their voices are so different it wasn't a hardship. Ezra might have too many exclamation marks in his inner monologues. Zero angst, as promised, most of the plot is moved by the development of their relationship and Ezra's quirky personality. This is a purely character-driven story. I usually don't go for too much fluff, I would
