Carmen Falconer's - Bad Santa - Have you heard the one about the Elf and Santa? No, well here's your chance. The Elf wants to try and show her business proposal to her wealthy boss, she just needs a chance to talk to him. Santa is loaded and unknown to the Elf is related to her boss. By chance, the boss checks in on his nephew, who's playing Santa at his store, thinks they're together, and invites them to his Xmas party. We have an undeniable attraction, misunderstandings, former betrayals, unscrupulous dealings by the boss. That's all I'm saying, otherwise, I'll say too much and I hate spoilers. Let me just say you don't want to miss this sexy, sizzling, will make you drool story.
Jodi Linton's - The Great Holi-Fake - One kiss and he fell in love; the only thing is it was a year ago and she says she doesn't feel the same. It looks like it will never be as they work together and the rules say no relationships between co-workers. He blows up at work and they're on the verge of being fired. One of them is doing all they can to keep that from happening. Read this delightful, second chance Xmas time story and find out if fake can become real, even after hurtful secrets come out.
Christine Glover - Spy Beneath The Mistletoe - Whether a man is a bank teller or a spy in the cold, they must let go of a hurtful past that wasn't of their making; such a life can lead a person in the wrong direction. But, one can be saved by true friendship, one that could be so much more if only the heart were open to possibilities. In this story, those possibilities come to light underneath a Christmas mistletoe, and just because your a smart, charming, seducing spy it doesn't mean you can't change your stripes and be a smart, charming spy in your own backyard (not figuratively speaking of course). Be sure to read this Christmas nugget, for an eye-opening and utterly sexy story.
Michele de Winton - Mistletoe Man - This story made me feel happy, goofy, and lovely. Both the hero, Mark, and heroine, Kati are amazing characters and are so different that picturing them together seems an impossibility. Although they have both suffered through entirely different losses, their physical attraction to each other cannot be denied. Due to Katie's past, they hit a bad patch in their relationship, but fate will not be denied.

Several authors come together to make up this anthology of Holiday cheer, steam, and romance. This is a great way to get some short holiday stories from your favorite authors and to find new authors to love.
There are some great stories here with wonderful characters, lots of holiday cheer, witty dialog and of course a good bit of steam. I like being able to sample other authors’s work before investing in more.
I received a review copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved this story. A nice holiday story. It had me laughing so hard at a couple of points I couldn't breathe. The romance is as sweet and spicy as a Christmas cookie. If you get the chance, I recommend reading, "Fake Date for Kate" by Cindy Redding, in the Holiday Fakeout Anthology.
Lots of really good stories to keep you entertained. Different scenarios, different people, different places, but all have hea. Very good and very steamy!
I received an excerpt from this anthology from one of the authors, Laurel Greer. The excerpt was called HOLIDAY EVER AFTER, SCORCHING VERSION and has stories written by Carmen Falcone, Kat Baxter, Kara Kendrick and one written together by Laurel Greer and Dee J Holmes.
All four books are set at Christmas but at different locations and transported me there. Two of the books had extended epilogues that I could download and really wrapped up the stories nicely. The other two had epilogues that tied up the loose ends while giving me the happily ever after I look for. The main characters and love interests had a history in each of the stories and they have a nice conclusion to their relationships as well as their happily ever after.
There were all things Christmas and there were vivid descriptions of the decorations, the shops, the presents, the trees, the clothes, the food and drink and the parties that made me feel like I was there. There were lots of family and friends along with career choices, tears, sorrow, anger, hurt, happiness, laughter, romance, lots of steamy loving and love. The book was a quick read with a good flow and left me with a feel good feeling. I enjoyed all four of the stories.
All the authors are new to me except for Ms. Greer whose books I haven't read enough of. I've added books by all the authors to my TBR pile. I look forward to reading the rest of this book.
I loved it! I was waiting for Maggie's story since I read War and Roses (Bethany's love story with her soldier pen pal". Maggie and Brooks were best of friends as children, they loved blossoming into something more as they grew up to become teenagers. They shared one kiss but Brook's father's cruelty pulled them apart. Fast forward 8 years, Maggie is the proud owner of a flower shop meanwhile Brooks is a billionaire businessman. They are both called to his grandmother's home (Maggie's grandma and Brook's grandma were BFF) to complete her final and dying wish - have them marry each other so that Brook's father can't inherit their fortune. They both agree so they think - why not make this marriage real? and they do! Some drama is thrown in there... but they manage to forgive each other and get their happily ever after.
This boxset is fantastic for every read to enjoy... every story is different in its own way and will keep the reader entertained and fall in love with these characters. You will laugh and swoon, fall in love and prepare for Christmas holiday season. All these stories were great and fantastic , but I do have to say the story Marry Christmas by Kat Baxter was my favorite, I did not want it to end and could not put it down. These stories were a mixture of everything a reader looks for funny, witty, emotional, sad, forever love, humorous, second chances, Christmas magic and miracles.
22 Short stories from numerous authors, including Carmen Falcone with Bad Santa. The stories are easy to read and nice and steamy. Carmen's story includes an elf and a supers sexy Santa.
I received an ARC from the following authors from the Holiday Fakeout collection. I have to say that I absolutely loved all 5 authors so much!! This was such a great collection of authors and their works. You will not be disappointed if you decide to pick this book and give it a try. Below you will find a review of each of the 4 books provided in the ARC.
Carmen Falcone- Bad Santa This book focuses on Paxton and Julie. Julie is the manager of an exclusive outdoor mall and has a proposal for the owner but has been unable to get him to hear out her proposal. When she sees Santa aka Paxton talking to her boss she tries to get him to sit down and talk about the proposal she has but ends up with a fake date with Paxton in order to get heard by her boss, who she doesn’t know is Paxton’s uncle or even who Paxton even is. Paxton was a successful software developer who had been done dirty by his ex the year before so he was not looking forward to having to face his family this holiday season. They decide on a mutually beneficial plan of a work party fake date for Julie and a fake girlfriend/meet the family day for him. When he had first met Julie he was immediately attracted to her and felt things he hadn’t ever felt before and he had no plans to let her go if he could help it. One fake date leads to way more than they both initially anticipated and I am totally here for it. This was such a great story!!
Laurel Greer and Dee. J. Holmes- The Holidare This book focuses on Beck and Gwen. Beck is a grumpy hockey player who wants nothing to do with the holiday festivities. When he goes to his sister's holiday party with the intention of talking her into moving out of her current apartment into something safer but Autumn has no intention of moving and leaving her roommate Gwen. When she stubbornly digs her heels in the ground and refuses, Beck decides to throw out a wager for her to move. The initial wager offer did not go how he expected and ended up accepting a wager with Gwen that they will spend holiday functions together getting him into the holiday spirit and if Gwen fails to make him enjoy the holidays, her and Autumn agree to move to the apartment that opened up in his building. Beck and Gwen honestly could not be more different on paper but the more time they spend together, the more they end up realizing that there was so much more to each other than they initially realized. They both seamlessly fit into each other's lives and added fun and joy to each experience while at the same time falling for each other. This was a great story and I love Beck and Gwen together!
Kat Baxter- Marry Christmas This book focuses on Brooks and Maggie. Brooks and Maggie had fallen in love as teens but Brooks had rejected and completely destroyed both their hearts after his awful father got in the way. A decade later and Maggie ‘hates’ Brooks and how he treated her that fateful night everything went down (let's be honest, she still loved him but was just incredibly hurt still). When a meddling grandmother comes up with a plan to get them together by having them get married (she was quite clever and such a great character), it is the beginning of the sweetest second chance between 2 people who never lost the connection or the love they shared all those years before. They just needed the big push and to begin healing the broken hearts. Excellent story!
Kara Kendrick- Mr. Right Under the Mistletoe This book focuses on Nick and Sydney. Nick is a professional football player and Sydney works in PR with the team he is currently working for. The two of them had dated until he was traded to a team across the country and Sydney couldn’t take the distance and not being able to see each other at all. When Nick is traded back to the team Sydney now works for, he takes full advantage in order to win back the love of his life. He never told his family that they broke up and pretty much tricked her into spending a week with him and his family over Christmas. Nick has a week to change her mind and get her to take him back. I absolutely loved this story and the 2 of them together! It was such a great story!
I received a free copy of this book via the authors and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Great Holi-Fake Jodi Linton The Great Holi-Fake is 5/5 stars for me. I devoured this particular book in the anthology. I was a little sad once I had finished it only because I didn’t want it to end. If you like cooking shows, you will love this book. Even if they aren’t your jam, you will be entertained. I was hooked from the get go and could see the characters vividly. Jodi Linton has a knack for making the characters come to life. The chemistry is off the charts even if Odie doesn’t want to acknowledge it completely. I think one of my absolute favorite things about this story is the characters are older than one normally sees. It was nice to see these characters in their 40s navigate the thing called love.
I will review the other 21 books as I read them. There are several new to me authors. If they are as good as this one, it won’t take long to finish the anthology!
Holiday Fake-Out is a collection of steamy Holiday novellas. Here are a couple of the stories in this collection. Bad Santa: By Carmen Falcone Bad Santa is an entertaining story about a misunderstanding that almost ended a steamy relationship before it even started. Julie ends up in a fake relationship with Paxton in order to get closer to her boss so she could show him a business proposal. But when the fake date turns into something more things take a steamy turn. The writing is great, the characters are likable and the ending is good. Marry Christmas: By Kat Baxter Maggie and Brooks were in love when they were teenagers until Brooks let his family get in the way. Now it's years later and grandma decides they belong together and it's her job to make it happen. This is a sweet, second chance love story between two people who belonged together. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this story.
Back when they were in college Melissa and her best friend Brian made a pact that if they weren’t married once they reached a certain point in their lives they would marry each other. So much has happened since then in both of their lives but when he suggests a trial run, she agrees.
Romance has always been a secondary priority in his life, and he believes that part of the reason is his feelings for Melissa. He plans to use the weekend to show her how they belong together, and it is finally their time.
Between their demanding careers and their pasts they must decide if the reward of being together is worth the risk. I have only had a chance to read Sweet December from Lyz Kelley so far, but I am looking forward to reading the rest of the stories.
Escape into your imagination in the most inviting of ways. Holiday Fake-Out is the greatest adventure of all. The type that speaks to the heart with witty, tempting and unforgettable finesse. Falling in love has never been so much fun.
Having wait many months for this anthology I have enjoyed all that I have read so far! Well worth the price this gives many hours of fun reading with heat levels for all appetites and I have found a few new to me authors as well!
Firstly a moan - if authors expect readers to pay for their books the least they can do is ensure there are no editing issues. This was not the case for this boxset and it really affected my enjoyment of some stories. A Christmas Strange Exchange 3* by Heather Graham - a platonic plus one to a wedding morphs into something more. Didn’t really feel the connection between the characters and it was a shame that there were editing issues. Bad Santa 4* by Carmen Falcone - it seemed strange that a guy who had already overheard that he was not her type wouldn’t take umbrage when several hours later, said girl takes advantage of his relationship to her boss and states that they are attending a party together. Afterwards one would have expected her to beg for his compliance but this was not the case, but other than how they got together this was quite a good story (apart that is from editing issues). Wrong Brother for Christmas 5* by Victoria Pinder - Reminded me of the movie While You Were Sleeping. A waitress witnesses a mugging and in the desperate need to know the man is going to be okay, accepts the title of fiancée, meaning to confess at the hospital. However true to form matters go awry, made all the more awkward by the fact that she is in love with the man’s brother. Loved it! Spy Beneath the Mistletoe 4* by Christine Glover - A playboy spy and a girl friday who has a makeover in order to be his fake girlfriend. Shame about the editing issues. Holly’s Fake Date for Christmas 4* by Callie Love/Ann Omasta - Holly discovers she’s pregnant after a drunken one-night stand. She has no idea who the father is and now she ha a trip home where she will be expected to attend the engagement party of her ex-boyfriend. Luckily the man who caught her from hitting the floor when she fainted seems amenable to playing her fake baby-daddy but what will happen when she discovers he’s not a fake? Good story with the added bonus of an epilogue. 007th Day of Christmas 4* by K.L. Brady - Family and Spies. At 22 chapters this is more a full length book than the novellas that make up the majority of this anthology. The story focuses on Allie whose career goal has always been to get into the Agency and this year is her last chance. Her final evaluation coincides with the Spy Ball, a series of team challenges, a slimy ex, a best friend who has been lying to her for thirteen years, plus an undercover surveillance. This was enjoyable story though at times the typos made things a bit confusing. Mistletoe Man 5* by Michele de Winton - I really enjoyed this opposites attract story. Widower Mark is a planner, whilst Kati is creative, impulsive and his total opposite. Their relationship has some ups and downs but in the end comes together with Mark’s big Times Square gesture! Read in the Holiday Fake Out anthology (no longer available to purchase or review). Christmas Charade 4* by Kristin Wallace - An overbearing and competitive family, heartbreak and a passion for art leads Maggie to flee her hometown but now she needs to return for a wedding and a prideful lie means she needs a fake boyfriend, who better than her hot boss? I might have given this five stars but for the irritating typos. Happiness Guaranteed 4* by Rossie Cortes - In a bid to avoid upsetting his elderly grandmother who doesn’t know he broke his engagement, Nick and colleague Chloe attend a family gathering pretending to be together. Loved the humour and the ending. Unwrapping Archie 4* by EmKay Connor - Best friends Archie and Anabelle need a push from their parents and hometown to realise what everyone else already knows ie, they love each other. The Great Holi-Fake 2.5* by Jodi Linton - I didn’t feel any chemistry between the H and h and personally I thought Odie was better off without him. The reader is several times told that Jaxom has been desperately in love with Odie for the past year and that he’s been the most patient man on the planet. However that does not extend to not dating other women and to quote from Chapter 2: “his bedroom antics were popular water cooler chitchat”. I therefore found it difficult to warm to Jaxom and his lies/secrets. Billionaire in Disguise 5* by Melanie Rose Clarke - A man undercover agrees to be a fake boyfriend in the hope of getting insider information but finds himself falling for the girl, whilst knowing he is deceiving her. Enjoyable family drama. Sweet December 4* by Lyz Kelley - A later life romance between old friends who made a drunk fuelled pact 30 years earlier. Both are career driven, one has no personal life whilst the other has short term relationships but it was obvious that they had feelings for each other, even with Melissa’s baggage from her father’s death, Would have enjoyed an epilogue to find out how this pair of workaholics managed their separate careers. Kwanzaa ‘pon a Time 3.5* by Marcia King-Gamble - this was an ‘okay’ story but I found it a bit rough draftish, with repeated bits, errors and occasionally a bit staccato. Also included a pet hate; when two almost strangers have unsafe sex and don’t even mention it afterwards. Fake Holi Date 4* by Brynn North - It is always a problem if you fall in love with your best friend, ie. will telling them your feelings ruin the friendship? In this story Declan and Hattie have been burying their true feelings for years but will the need for a fake date lead one or the other to come clean? At times amusing this was a sweet read, though I did feel it could have been tightened up and made shorter, so one didn’t feel like knocking the characters heads together. A Fake Date for Kate 5* by Cindy Redding - I thought Kate was very brave, going home to her sister’s engagement events when she was marrying her cheating ex husband’s baby brother. Plus her sister was expecting her to make friends with the woman who stole her husband and is now pregnant. Unbelievable! No wonder she snapped at the chance to make a handsome stranger her fake date. No Groom at the Inn 4* by Kathleen Lawless - Commitment phobe Meredith is horrified when her family turns up at the resort where she works expecting to meet her fiancé. Luckily her colleague Asher plays along with her story and helps to entertain her family and in so doing she sees him in another light, until that is everything falls apart. The Holidare 4* by Laurel Greer & Dee J Holmes - An uptight hockey player and a Wiccan artist come together because of a dare but Beck throws it al away when he feels excluded. Can Gwen forgive him for breaking her heart? Hoax for the Holidays 4* by Emma Lee Jayne - After the death of her mother, Lily goes to live with her distant father and in so doing meets his assistant Seb. The attraction between them is instantaneous but Seb is better at hiding his feelings, knowing that she is too vulnerable, too young and his boss’ daughter. Unfortunately by the time she is older they are estranged, until a chance meeting with a lecher gives Seb the excuse to agree to a fake relationship to protect her. The Billionaire’s Naughty Thief 4* by Cara Carnes - An interesting story with secret convert organisations and I must admit at times I was a little lost as to exactly what was going on but I found myself invested in the story. Marry Christmas 4* by Kat Baxter - Mags is marrying the man who broke her heart, in order to placate a dying woman but she is not happy about it. Can Brooks persuade her that he lied all those years ago and that he does in fact care for her? Mr. Right Under the Mistletoe 4* by Kara Kendrick - A long distance relationship wasn’t working for Sydney but now Nick is back in town and her feelings for him haven’t gone away. As he hadn’t told his family about their breakup he persuades her to be his fake girlfriend for the holidays.
Every one of these stories is worthy of 5 stars! Here's a taste: Bad Santa - Carmen Falcone
Seeing the mall Santa speaking with the Mall owner, Julie Campbell makes a move that will mean some fast talking on her part.
Paxton doesn't call her out on it, but thinks of a way to make it work for him as well. First he needs to know exactly what she wants to pitch to Alan McCarthy.
His reaction to her plan is more than positive and he tells her what he wants in return for getting Alan to listen. Julie will be his pretend date at his family Christmas in Tahoe.
A few ups and downs, tears, giggles and a quite a bit of sizzle!
The Holidare - Laurel Greer and Dee Holmes
Hockey Star Noel 'Beck' Beckett hates the holiday season, he grumps through the whole time. However, he's not one to turn down a bet especially if winning means he gets his sister Autumn and her best friend Gwen into a more secure apartment in his building.

Gwen does too, and realizes that it was really because of each other. She also recognizes she's falling for Beck.
Next up is Gwen's family's Yule celebration, that one is so much fun, lots of laughter and more!
With everything that is happening between them a hockey game before his family's Christmas provides even more fun and games.
A fun read with laughter, a few tears and sizzling heat.
Marry Christmas - Kat Baxter
Years ago Maggie and Brooks were best friends on the way to becoming more. Brooks' father put a stop to that and in the process two hearts were broken.
Now Brooks' grandmother has asked Maggie to visit, she has something to discuss with her. Maggie loves Gran almost as much as her own Nana, the two of them had been best friends. She always meant to visit more often but since her Nana died it's been difficult. One big surprise Brooks is there as well, and really Maggie doesn't want to stay, but she does to hear out Gran. Of course she wants the impossible, for her and Brooks to marry. She doesn't agree right away, having to think this whole thing through.
Not wanting to disappoint Gran, Maggie finally agrees.
Quite the tangled web here and lots of family drama. The thing is these two really do belong together.
A fun read with laughter, some tears, some anger and some sizzle.
Mr. Right Under The Mistletoe - Kara Kendrick
Nick Milton and Sidney Porter had once been a thing. When he was traded to Arizona, Sidney broke up with him and took a PR job with the team he left.
Sidney was in a meeting with the team's CMO and her boss when she hears Nick's voice. She doesn't want to see him or talk to him. Her feelings really are still raw. Yet when her boss asks about the Gala Nick gets her out of it.
Now he asks the favor he needs in order to survive Christmas with his family.
Now Sidney has to play the girlfriend he never left and he's out to win her back.
Another fun read, with laughter some confusion, and just the right amount of sizzle.
The Billionaire's Naughty Thief - Cara Carnes
As this novella opens we find Probus has a problem, some of their branches are getting out of control. It's Joy 'Diamond' Winniford who brings this to King's attention. That initial problem has now escalated a bit and it's time to bring in some outside help, especially since they're involved.
Joy isn't happy and doesn't think anyone could possibly be better than her hacker, Maze. She does agree to work with the King and the outsiders, but only if Maze verifies they are better.
A very interesting relationship that further develops as this story progresses.
This is a fun and suspenseful read with action, family, a reunion, romance and some sizzle.

Fast paced, a little steamy. Great chemistery bewteen King and Joy. Some great secondary characters, who I hope will get their own story. Some faborites from the Arsenal series lend a hand. Great addition to the Arsenal world. Not your typical Christmas story.
Will update review as I read the other books in this collection
This novella, while set within The Arsenal world (Cara’s paramilitary series), stands on its own very well. We met King, aka the ‘King Maker’, briefly in Lethal Echo when The Arsenal and Probus – King’s secretive organization, crossed paths.
Born and raised to rule, King’s life has been a solitary one – focused completely on Probus. His recent reconnection with Ramon, his long-lost childhood friend (now one of The Arsenal’s operatives), has him yearning for more – friendships, love, and family. But is any of that even possible for such a powerful man? Joy, aka ‘Diamond’ was born into a family of thieves, all of whom have worked for Probus. When King needs a master thief, he proposes that Joy play the part of his fake-girlfriend. How long will it be, until both are hoping for the real deal?
Cara has once again delivered a well written and often emotional tale. As expected, there’s some special ops action courtesy of The Arsenal, intrigue, and suspense along with some humour, intense chemistry and several explicit encounters. I’m looking forward to reading more stories in this holiday-themed collection.
A magical collection of romantic stories to get you into the Holiday Spirit...
This review is for Sweet Christmas by Lyz Kelley
Making a big life change is pretty scary. Do you know what's even scarier? Regret.
Melissa Davenport was in a rut. You would think being the Commander of the Air Force Recruiting Service Center, she would be in heaven with this dream job. Just when she is moping and feeling down, she gets a message from her best friend Brian Newburg. Her mouth is agape when he says their pact is going to expire shortly on their birthdays. Both of them turn 50 years old on the same day.
Melissa remembers their pact. If either of them is not married, the two of them will. He asks her to accompany him to a Company retreat. This gives them a chance to test the waters on how they feel about each other as more than "friends".
Their journey has obstacles and many bumps along the way. Have the tissues on hand as this is a touching and heartfelt story.
I primarily bought this for The billionaire’s naughty thief by Cara Carnes as she always wows me with her books and she did it again for a short story an amazing story is told jam packed with so much emotion i adore King and really liked Joy! "Sweet December" by Lyz Kelley I was totally engaged with Melissa and Brian as their story effortlessly unfolded from page to page! The dynamic and chemistry between these two fascinating characters kept me totally captivated throughout the entire story!
As I read more stories in this collection I will update my review.
Sweet December Review: Melissa Davenport and Brian Newburg have been best friends for decades. Both are extremely career driven and aim to be the best in their given fields. Melissa is a jet fighter pilot and Brian is a high level engineer. I absolutely love the dynamics between these two and how their friendship leads to love! 5 star read!
Loved this Anthology. I was happy to see some of my favourite authors getting together and doing spin offs or new stories . I read all of them. Liked how it all happens during the holiday season. Each author spins a special Christmas tale that will grab your heart. Grab it before it disappears
I loved each story in this anthology! Each one was wonderful in it's own way. Some were funnier than others, some had more angst than others but all were well written. There were very few typos and those few didn't distract from the stories. I'd recommend this to anyone.
