3-Minute Devotions to Laugh and Reflect by Christopher D. Hudson and Stan Campbell includes 90 one-page devotional readings with a comic and a Scripture verse.
3-Minute Devotions to Laugh and Reflect sounds like a light-hearted book. I love to laugh and I enjoy reading comics so I thought this book might be a good one for me. It has been a challenging year in many ways and I thought I could use something light. However, I didn't find much to make me chuckle in this book. Humor is subjective so maybe you will. However, I did find the daily readings to offer some good thoughts on living the Christian life. While the comic may be light, in several instances I found the topic to be more serious for the devotional--gossip, pastor appreciation, church attendance, spiritual growth, and many more. I expected that the readings would be lighter like the comics and I didn't find that. I would still recommend 3-Minute Devotions to Laugh and Reflect because I thought the short readings were helpful to think about and another reader may find it all more humorous than I did.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions within this review are my own.

This book is such a delight, and it is a perfect addition to your devotion time! Authors Christopher D. Hudson and Stan Campbell combine their talents to offer readers ninety thought-provoking devotions, and illustrator Dennis Fletcher adds hilarious cartoons to emphasize their thoughts. I found myself laughing out loud as I marveled at the 'spot-on' illustrations that add the crowning touch to the scriptures being discussed by the authors.
Proverbs 17:22 tells us that "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones". 3-Minute Devotions to Laugh and Reflect is truly a book that will 'lighten your load and brighten your day', and it's a terrific resource!
I received a copy from Bethany House Publishers. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.
This is a fun, light-hearted book best for people age 40 and up, who will be most likely to get the jokes. Each short reading has a funny church-based comic, then an accompanying devotion on a featured verse. The light tone gently nudges you toward spiritual growth in areas you may have overlooked, with good spiritual nuggets to savor. A great gift book for someone who likes dry yet clean humor.
Ready for a devotion this is short, and can be read in just a couple of minutes? How about enjoying a cartoon with it that relates to the subject, done in a way that will make you chuckle, but without being irrespective of God? If that sounds good, this is the book for you--concise devotions that barely take any time.
But think again if you believe short and funny equals light and pointless. These little devotions, with a comic twist, contain real spiritual meat. Despite their brevity, words are not minced about unacceptable behaviors, beliefs, or sin. Keeping it short, the author gets right to the heart of the matter, and doesn't beat around the bush.
You will find ninety devotions that range from enticements to excuses to fasting (stomach trouble), plus eighty-seven more that will surely grab your interest.
Just as we were advised years ago by the wise Mary Poppins, "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down," so, too, can humor help God's truths easily go down into our hearts. I recommend this 5-star book to everyone who wants to go deeper into God's word in an uncomplicated way.
Bethany House has provided Tickmenot with a complimentary copy of, “3-Minute Devotions to Laugh and Reflect: Lighten Your Load and Brighten Your Day,” for the purpose of review.
3-Minute Devotions to Laugh and Reflect is a brand-new devotional that can be read under 3 minutes to help us laugh and reflect on an important lesson we can learn from scriptures. Each day contained a funny comic, scripture verse, and a short story. This book is written in mind to light up our lives and to experience more laugher and joy.
I would recommend this awesome funny devotional to anyone who is ready to laugh and to have lighthearted topics. I liked how they used humor throughout the book and mixed it with important lessons we can learn from scriptures to assist in our walk through this life. I loved how short the devotional was and how they won’t take up much time. One of the comics included a guy sticking his tongue out at someone. The other guy is staring back at him looking at how immature the other person is acting in church of all places. The headline of the comic discussed that the sermon on spiritual maturity is exactly what this congregation needs. The scripture verse was on James 1:4. The short story explored spiritual growth and how farmers have to be patient in waiting for their crops to grow. It’s the same way with us and spiritual growth. The seed of perseverance takes time to grow and there isn’t a fast-track option. Once the fruit of joy blooms, then we will see and experience a closer relationship with Christ.
"I received this book free from the publisher, Bethany House/Chosen Books for my honest review.”
What a fun devotional 3-Minute Devotions to Laugh and Reflect is a genuine heartfelt devotional that gives you something to reflect on. Sometimes you need to laugh at the craziness going on in today’s world.
Each devotional has a cartoon to go along with each of the 90 devotionals. Scripture is at the top of the two-page devotional. One side has the cartoon the other side has the devotional. The cartoons are funny and are heartfelt humor with everyday life as a Believer. The devotional is great and digs deep into an issue. Some issues are relationships and being offended, time spent with God, and other important issues as a Christian with a spiritual message. The message is good and like I always like to remind my kids about is that a devotional doesn't take place of your Bible reading but it's extra. I'm not a big fan of every devotional out on the market but this is a good one.
This would make a great gift book for anyone special in your life. I plan on letting my teenage read this. I think it will capture his attention with the cartoon element in it.
Disclosure: I received this complimentary product through Bethany House Publishers in exchange for my honest thoughts.

With 90 one-page topics to think about, each includes scripture verse and a cartoon. Written very conversationally, the thoughts are simple to read and understand while applying the scripture that goes along with it.
The topics are not funny, and are not meant to be, but they are insightful and thought provoking. The comics will give you a chuckle as they reflect today’s world in an ironic way. These are short enough for anyone to work into their day, and will give you much to dwell on. I recommend it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
Not a traditional devotional resource, this book is filled with comic pictures about church life. Each of the 90 devotions are a simple reflection on a scriptural verse, giving the reader thought about our own faith journey and life in the community of faith. Not overly deep by any means; but this lighthearted resource was a nice break from the typical devotional book.
These ninety devotions are very short, perfect for a bite-sized pick-me-up moment. They each include a humorous illustration to bring levity to a serious concept. The devotions make you reflect; the comics make you laugh; and your spirit gets the shot of assistance it needs!
I've read a lot of devotionals, and this is unique with the cartoons. They definitely catch your eye and go along nicely with the devotions. There's a bit of something for everyone in this book.
