Hardball- Noun: A forceful uncompromising method employed to gain an end.

Meeting Harper Stevens was never my plan. She crashed into my life and knocked me on my ass.

The only problem? She wants nothing to do with me.

Josh Anderson is everything I didn’t want in my life. He was persistent, cocky and ever worse? The star third baseman for the Hawks.

After my fathers death I swo

I am such an idiot. I really need to learn to read blurbs properly before I start reading the book. Because if I had known this ended in a cliff-hanger and was part of what I can only hope is a duet and not a trilogy I would have waited to pick it up.

But I saw a sports romance that was a relatively quick read and jumped in. When I hit the 90% mark I started to get nervous because there was still quite a few loose threads and things were just starting to get hot. And then bam the poop hit the fan

I was turning pages so fast that by the time I came to end the only thing that kept me going was knowing book 2 was waiting for me to continue reading. The way they met might be one of the cutest meet-cute I read in a book.

The chemistry was sizzling and I was pulling my hair out with the way she was resisting Josh. Now lets talk about Josh for a minute; HOLY SHIT that man is fiiiine. LIke i want to marry him and have his babies fiiiiine :) It no wonder Harper couldn't resist him for long.

I loved Josh and Harper and especially how Josh didn’t give up on her. The story flows well and I loved the anticipation of them finally giving in to their attraction. The downside? I didn’t realize it’s not their full story and it ends on a cliffhanger. Now I am on edge waiting for the next part of their story.

It was....meh. I skimmed a lot of the meh parts. There is a ex who cheated on the h and he's a creepy creeper who won't go away. and there's the constant ow Angela who also is creepy creeping and won't go away. I don't think her reason for staying away from baseball players due to whay happened to her dad is enough for all this pushing away she's doing.

Harper Stevens decided a long time ago that she wanted nothing to do with baseball players, because loving a man that loves the game will only end in heartbreak. She has the scars to prove it, as well as, a mountain of emotional baggage that has kept her from really living. Her father was a part of that world and she watched it take over his whole life and literally rip him from hers, and there is no way she can go through that again. Which is why she made the "no baseball players" rule for hers ...more

Drama, heat & romance ... addictive

If you enjoy reading about instant attractions, strong characters, slow-burn romances, and sport romances, then HARD BALL is the story for you. Word of warning though ... it does end in a bit of a cliffhanger!! Don't fret though as the next book, Curve Ball, is due out in a couple of weeks. Once again Ms. Clayton has written a story that captivated me, I was trapped by every word. Harper Stevens and Josh Anderson were two characters I didn't want to let go of.

Engaged from the first sentence!

Yep, I loved the witty humour from the first sentence in this shorter length novel, so I knew I was going to enjoy the book, and by the last sentence in the first chapter where I laughed out loud and spat my drink, I knew I was going to LOVE IT!!! Being dragged out to their local bar by her best girl Melissa, for a night of breaking lo⚾️ose after finding her boyfriend of two years engaging in the party favours of his secretary, Mel tells her that she “needs to int

Emotional, Sexy and Unputdownable!

This book had me going from the first chapter! It had strong characters (both likable and detestable), instant chemistry, slow burn romance, and the sex scenes were 🥵🔥!
Take heed, fellow readers! The book does end in a cliffhanger but book #2, Curveball, does release in a couple of weeks. I was rooting for Josh and Harper throughout the book, willing them to finally get it together and be a couple!

Harper has been through so much in her life; her father, who live

This is the first book in this new series from this author. This is a sports romance read based around baseball. This is the story of Josh and Harper, these two characters have a slow burn romance which grows as you read. This book is full of emotions, drama, romance and plenty of steamy scenes. This book will keep you hooked from the first page to the very end. This story has a cliff hanger ending which has you needing the next book as soon as possible. Great start to this series from this auth

This is book one in the Stadium Series and ends on a cliffhanger! Dumb stupid Angela, I really do not like her!!

Josh is a star baseball player. He has been in the majors for years and can have any girl that he wants, but the one girl that he really wants does not want him. Harper just got out of a relationship, looking back she realized he was not for her and should have ended it a while ago. One night she goes to a bar where she meets Josh. Harper refuses to date baseball players because of her

Stephannie's 5 Star Review:

Josh meets Harper and sparks fly but the problem is she wants nothing to do with me because she doesn't date baseball players. Josh can see she is into him so he isn't going to give up. The major issue is Harper's ex Cole and the girl he cheated on her with Angela. I hate that girl. I want to yell and scream for her to get away from Harper's man Josh.
The first book in this series has you wanting more and there is a cliffhanger that makes me want to throw my kindle ac

I love me a sports romance - especially if they involve baseball. And I love when a story has me hooked from the jump and reading frantically to figure out what happens! And this book did that! I wanted to know why Harper wasn't going to date a professional athlete.

I truly enjoyed that Josh wasn't the cocky, stereotypical, arrogant pro athlete. He knew that there were women who want to be with pro athletes but he wasn't into them. He was actually into the one woman who didn't want anything to d

This is the 1st in a new series and is Josh and Harper’s journey. Josh is a professional baseball player who is at the top of his game, while Harper wants nothing to do with baseball players thanks to her dad being involved in that life, which has left her with emotional baggage. Josh is persistent in his pursuit of Harper who thought he was her dream guy, until she found out what he does, but the chemistry between them is combustible and undeniable, and Josh is determined to break down Harpers ...more

Nooo! Okay, I adored Harper. And even Josh, though he was a tad slow to learn the rules to the game someone else is playing with him. And while this does end in a cliffhanger, I can’t wait to find out where we go next. Josh isn’t the bad guy. Harper isn’t the bad gal. But there’s definitely something swirling around them that has at least one less-than-honorable person involved.

I loved the progression of Harper and Josh’s relationship. I even understood the insecurity or worry or anger they bot

Josh wanted the one girl who wanted nothing to do with him.
Harper watched baseball take over her father’s life, it consumed him. The one she was clear on was no baseball players ever, she couldn’t go through anything like that again. Then she meets Josh, and that one little rule of no baseball players is the one thing she has to keep reminding herself about.
Josh knows there is something there with Harper, but not matter what he does he can’t get past her walls, no matter what he does or says.

Waring this book ends with a cliffhanger but OMG, what a read. Harper has grew up with athletes all her life especially baseball, the sport that took her father from her and really messed her up, that's why the rule to not date athletes has gotten her through unwanted heart ache, but meeting Josh the hot baseball player was a hammer to knower walls down, he's everything shes promised to stay away from, but he's also everything she needs and Josh isn't going to stop proving it. I loved it and see ...more

It's hard for me to pass up a romance with a baseball hero. I'm glad I dived into this one. I loved Harper and Josh. They are two characters that easily pulled me into their story. Harper broke my heart when she talked about her dad. It got the tears flowing. Harper doesn't date athletes especially baseball players, but Josh won't give up that easily. These two have a rocky road and outside forces aren't helping any. Be warned Josh and Harper's story continues in book two so it does end on a cli ...more

Josh is a professional baseball player who knew from the from the first moment he met Harper that she was special, but she wanted nothing to do with him. When fate causes their lives to collide once again, he is determined to convince her to give him a chance.

Harper’s past has left her wanting nothing to do with baseball players and that includes Josh even if she is attracted to him. If that isn’t enough then her betraying ex and the woman fans only add fuel to the fire.

This is def a cliffhanger, but I knew it. And I LOVED IT!

I can't wait to read the next one!

Josh and Harper meet, and she's not dating any more athletes! NEVER. Yeah right. She can keep telling herself that!

Harper doesn't want to get involved with anyone really, and Josh doesn't give up easily.

I love that Josh is so protective over her too. Her douchey ex Cole, ugh didn't like him at all! But who would. I just wanted to reach through the book and knock him out.

Hard Ball is a good read. Harper is a sweet nice girl. She doesn't date baseball players. She has her reasons for that. She meets Josh. He's a baseball player. How they first met was funny. There's a connection between them but she fights it. Josh is a good guy and he's not backing down her Harper pushing him away. I was a little frustrated with Harper at times and it felt like just when they made progress she would push him away again. I finally thought things were going well for them and then ...more

This is the start to a series. That is my only complaint. It ends and I just wanted a HEA. The heat level is spicy 🔥 and it ramps up after 55%. Add in some drama, past trauma, and work/life balance this book has a lot going for it.
