Shifter Ops #1

Alpha's Moon

Rate this book
My alpha ordered me to keep away from humans.

My wolf is highly unstable. Nearly feral. I can’t be trusted around civilians.

Certainly not with the lovely kindergarten teacher whose scent drives me wild.

But she needs a fake boyfriend for a weekend wedding trip. A big guy to intimidate her ex.

How can I refuse?

I won’t be directly disobeying an order, because it won’t be a real date.

It will be a nice, clean mission. We’ll have separate rooms.

I’ll keep my wolf on a tight leash.

And no matter how much I want to, I will not mark and claim the sweet human as mine…

"If you ever need me to be your fake girlfriend, let me know," I say, half joking.
"Babe." He hits me with that intense stare of his--so hot it could burn off all my clothes. "With me, you wouldn't be faking anything."

4.5 Babe stars!

Lately I've been in the mood for growly alpha heroes with a strong protective streak over their mate, and this novel fit that trope perfectly! Deke was the epitome of a surly shifter; he has been fighting his wolf for control ever since he retired from the military, becoming more and more violent around humans. However when he catches the candy-sweet scent of his mate, he finds himself unable to stay away from Sadie despite what his alpha demands. Fortunately, Sadie isn't put off by his secretive nature or his one-word answers, and she enjoys her freedom for the first time in her life.

The sexual chemistry between these two was steamy, and there were some really sweet moments of longing and contentment as well. I'm looking forward for Charlie and Lance's story next! ♡

This is pure and unadulterated paranormal romance and I loved every minute of it! It was a quick read with interesting characters. You could feel the chemistry from both main characters coming off the pages! It was a lovely read!

Sadie was a lovely character to get to know! She was sweet and nice but with Deke she shined even brighter. She actually polished up her backbone while he stood by her and helped. It was so sweet.

Deke has his demons but they calmed down significantly after he met Sadie. After a lot of back and forth of can-I, can't-I they finally get together. Boy did sparks fly! He's her bodyguard and she's the goddess he adores. They were perfect together.

The ending was expected and I loved it anyway! I loved that the secondary characters made enough of an impact in the story to justify more books in this series. I'm open to reading about them if the stories interest me because they do seem like entertaining characters to read about.

I'm always having high hopes when I start a new book by Lee Savino and I was intruiged when it had another author too. Enjoyable plot, swoony romance and a very creep toy. Would be terrified if I heard its creepy sounds in real life. Unfortunately my book app seems to be in a habit of only having one or a few books in a seriers. But might buy the rest after I finished buying my other series.

I can always count on Rose and Savino to deliver a sexy and smutty story about shifters. Will definitely be picking up the rest of the books in this series.

Alpha's Moon is the first book of the new series Shifter Ops by Renee Rose and Lee Savino. Alpha's Moon follows a group of shifters that are mercenaries for the government. I couldn't wait to read this new series from these wonderful authors. It has been a long wait but well worth it. I couldn't put Alpha's Moon down and when I was done, I was drooling for more.

I am excited to see where we go next in this series.

I got this book for free from the author’s newsletter, and I have to admit, it’s one of the best shifter romances I’ve read in a while! A definite 5 star read for me. I loved Sadie as a heroine - a kindergarten teacher who’s a bit of a pushover. She broke up with her boyfriend of two years because he was caught cheating on her, but honestly, she was relieved. She was mostly dating him to make her dad happy. Then she meets the handsome Deke, who’s the exact opposite of her clean-cut ex. Deke is part of a group of special forces shifters, and he’s suffering from PTSD. It’s just a matter of time before he succumbs to “moon madness”, and he’s not supposed to be around “civilians”--aka humans. But he can’t resist the sweet Sadie.
When Sadie has to attend a weekend wedding–one that her ex will be at–she recruits Deke to be her fake boyfriend. Though, there’s really not much that’s fake about it…
This book is fun and light with some darker themes. There’s a little bit of suspense, there’s humour, and there’s steam. I love when one of the main characters is keeping something major from the other, and in this case, Sadie has no idea that shifters exist–or that the man she’s falling for is one.
A definite five-star book!

This was fine, kinda cute and pretty cringe, but that was expected. I’ve been reading this here and there while traveling so I don’t have anything super coherent to say about it other than that I read a smut scene in an old church in Germany lol 🙃 whoops.

It's been a while since I last read a book by these two authors, and I realized how much I missed their style. Sadie's story was sweet, fast-paced, and delightfully steamy. Overall, it's an enjoyable read—perfect for when you're looking to escape and unwind.

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fast cute read.
The kindergarten teacher and the unstable military werewolf.
There’s lot of sexy time with a bossy and dirty talking H and a sweet but witty heroine that knows what she wants and goes for it.
Will probably read the rest of the series since the rest of the pack intrigued me.

First Chapter: everything I'm looking for. I like the idea of shifters on a special forces team, getting rid of bad guys and rescuing the good ones.

Second Chapter: I don't care. Why oh why oh why did Sadie ruin it for me?

I mixed this book up with Apha's temptation by these same authors but

Deke is from a pack of former soldiers now working private security and govt contracts. The team got out of the armed forces because Deke's wolf is on the verge of being feral. He's volatile and always wants to fight.....until a sweet scent on the wind causes him to meet the lovely preschool teacher Sadie
Sadie's ex cheated on her, now she's trying to move on but he refuses to let her go. Spying a sexy biker Sadie goes to him for help, pretend to be with her to get her away from her ex. It works all to well but now she can't get him off her mind
Deke's been warned away from her, but he just can't stay away but his wolf is a serious threat to his innocent human

******
Eh this was ok? Idk something was missing, it just seemed meh
Conflict stems from Deke trying to stay away and his Alpha trying to keep him away from Sadie for fear that he'd harm her
The ex lurked in the background for quite a while until he faded away
Sexy times were weirdly worded
I love baby from a ONS so I may be tempted to read the next book in this series but I'm not in a hurry

No cheating
Mates
h recently out of a relationship
No real details of the H but he didn't seem the manwhore type
Pull away by H because he feared his wolf
OM drama from the ex boyfriend who just wouldn't stay gone

I really liked this book. And I have missed this world so so much, so when this finally came out - it was an instant one-click! :D

Alpha's Moon is the first book in the new series 'Shifter Ops', but it takes place in the same world as the other 'Bad Boy Alphas' books from Renee Rose and Lee Savino. The pair have talent! And all the books are really really good. Start with Alpha's Temptation and read your way through this wonderful world of wolfs, bears, tigers, panthers, foxes, vampires and lions in the series Bad Boy Alpha's. <3

Sadie is a kindergarten teacher and her meeting with Deke is quite the classic "eyes meet and sparks fly" type. hehe
However, I did find their love story to be romantic and sweet.
They have their obstacles, Deke suffers from PTSD and his wolf is half-crazed with bloodlust. However, Sadie calms the beast, but Deke's Alpha is not a fan.
Terrified of hurting Sadie, Deke runs away...

My wolf relaxes in the presence of the pack. These are my brothers, for better or worse. They heard my call, and they came. We point our noses to the moon and howl. They sing for a brother found, but I cry for what I’ve lost.

Their love is strong though, and their bond is destined because The Fates have spoken. :)

Sadie, despite her "kindergarten teacher looks" actually has a strong backbone and Deke strengthens her in very positive ways. Ways that help her stand up for herself in regards to her controlling father and stalker x-boyfriend. hehe

I can't wait for the next books in this new spinoff from the Bad Boy Alphas series and the prologue offers lots of tastiness to come! :D

3.4 stars. I can’t explain exactly what, but there’s something slightly off about this book. It was good but there were things like “But the real magic comes when his giant rod batters the back of my womb, hitting some crazy arousal spot.”

What? I’m fairly certain that’s not a thing.

Also, lots of weird pulling away because he’s “so dangerous”.

I may give more of these books a try tho. There were some hot scenes here. And in general, I liked them both. Just some thing off that I can’t completely explain, especially in the beginning of the book

I love this wild ride and the delicious stuff between the sheets - It doesn't have to be a shifter, the whole, wild package in a human male would be okay too. Woman can make minor sacrifices if necessary. 😉 or not?

Sweeter than I was expecting for this universe!

The Alpha series was one of my first forays into PNR, and I can't help but keep coming back here as more of the books release. They're just dommy enough to hit the spot, but none of the Alphas is so OTT that he's over-bearing or awful. There's a lot of soft domination play in these, with some moreso than others. This one is super light.

Deke and Sadie are absolutely sweet, and while nothing about this book reinvents this universe, it's a cozy little read. Just enough drama and bumps in the road for a little angst, but nothing too serious. And I super appreciated that when there was an opportunity to pull out the Jealous Bitch™ trope, these two totally didn't. So, thank you for that.

I like the premise of what this quartet of books will be: a group of four women who are friends, and their matings to four ex-military brothers-in-arms. Keepin' it tight.

And... I absolutely cracked up every time Sadie's ovaries started talking. So enthusiastic.

Another awesome story from Renee Rose and Lee Savino. These two write stories that their readers get easily lost in and this was certainly true for me. Deke and Sadie feel something for each other instantly but Deke isn't suppose to fall for a human. Smoking hot scenes and I was cheering them on the whole way. Can Sadie be the perfect mate for him and his wolf?

Wow, I was surprised how this book turned out. I haven't read a good shifter romance in ages!! Hell, I finished it in 2 sittings. This one is a PR that dangerously bordered on Erotica, usually I'm not very much into smut books, but this one balanced plot and sexy times very nicely.

It's part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone.

• This book is basically: forbidden love trope + Werewolves + 'The Wedding Date' movie.

Dual POV. Both Deke and Sadie are pretty likable;

Sadie (female lead) is Spanish, so bonus points for diversity!

• Her reaction to discovering that Deke is a werewolf was hilarious.

Deke is a sweetheart (though he is a bit dumb sometimes, mainly due to being more wolf than a human); it was really nice to see a protective but "not a jerk" male lead in PR for a change.

The wolf pack from this book highly reminded me of the wolf pack from the Twilight.
Do you remember this scene from The Breaking Dawn? Same energy!

• Have I mentioned that this book is HOT?? Because it's super HOT!! 🔥🔥🔥

Fantastic Shifter Story and beginning of a series

This is a Shifter Story that is nicely steamy and it begins a series. Renee Rose and Lee Savino do a fantastic job and they set up for a new series in a really good way. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series, I am going to pre-order it as soon as possible.

More special than Special Forces

Excellent shape shifter story. Sexy as only a shifter can be. The story deals with PTSD which might be a trigger for some. A must read for hero hunters!

I think I might just be in love with this book. Deke was a welcome change from the arrogant alpha-male types that are usually in books, especially if the book is about a human-supernatural relationship. Deke was nice, devoted, supportive and totally amazing and not one of those alphaholes that I'm now sick and tired of. It was, in fact, an excerpt sent in Renee Rose's email newsletter that prompted me to read this book because Deke seemed so sweet in it, and I needed something like that after a few reading disasters I've had recently. Gotta say, I definitely don't regret and will certainly be re-reading this soon.

Alpha's Moon was a really pleasant read for me! I like both Deke and Sadie and thought they were really adorable together. Deke was protective of Sadie without crossing any boundaries, and that was super refreshing to see. Plus, while Sadie did rely on Deke, her character growth ultimately stemmed from herself and choices she decided to make. It was really satisfying seeing both of them grow together and ultimately fall in love.

Only small gripe is that there is not nearly enough action for a series called Shifter Ops. Most of the problems stem from domestic/relationship issues and there is really nothing ops related about the plot at all. There was some small set up at the beginning of the book that I thought would ultimately lead to more but did not - though since this is the first book in the series I wonder if it's part of an overarching plot across more books.

I didn't like that the epilogue is solely there to set up the next book. But I can also easily close my eyes and pretend it doesn't exist, so it didn't bother me too much.

I’ve only read a couple of books from the Alphas series but every time I do it makes me want to read more.

Deke is not suitable for human consumption. On the verge of losing his humanity completely he knows the moment he spots Sadie that he should steer clear of her.
That is until she asks for his help.
Sadie is trying madly to stop her ex from accosting her on a regular basis and, in a moment of weakness enlists his help. What starts as a simple favour and a ride home blossoms into a whole lot more.
I loved Deke and Sadies relationship, the fact that he’s so damaged, so close to being put down that his brothers do everything to protect the human Deke can’t seem to escape.
Sadie is great, finally sure of what she deserves let alone wants, she manages to turn this big bad wolf into a cute little puppy. A puppy hell bent on protecting her.
I really enjoyed this book and have since gone and read a few of the previous books in the series.
What I love about all the books from this duo are the bonus chapters that you can get once the books are finished. It just gives you that lil extra zing.

This book was unlike any other shifter romance by Renee Rose and I couldn’t get enough. 5 freakin stars out of 5.

Where to even begin with this.

What set this book apart from other shifter books is the fact that Deke isn’t the alpha of the pack. He’s feral and his wolf is out of control, another thing we don’t usually see from these types of books. Usually the human can control his wolf, but here we see the wolf taking control, or his human. On the verge of being put down by his alpha because he’s to far gone, or so he believes, until Deke meets Sadie. That’s when everything changes.

I love Dekes vulnerability. Don’t get me wrong, he might not be the packs alpha but he’s all man. A sexy dominating dangerous wolf in every aspect, but not being alpha, with the pressures of losing the top spot if he mates with a human, draws out a different side of the wolfs we typically see in other books. It was a great shake up to a typical shifter romance. Brilliant really.

Can I also just say that Deke saying “babe” was my undoing. A wolf of few words, his babes” were everything.

All that being said, it’s hard to say which Renee Rose book is my fav, but this one is at the top for sure. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series (I highly recommend reading these in order) and it kills me they aren’t free on kindle unlimited, but if the rest of the books are this good, they are worth every penny.

Was a classic fun read

I absolutely devoured shifter books growing up, but it certainly has been a while since my last one. Picking up this wonderful read was a great start to sink myself into the comfort of a fabulous genre.

Sadie was a sweet human who had a crappy father and a cheat boyfriend, well ex-boyfriend that is. That guy just seems to not get that through his thick skull though, spamming texts and calls, coaxing her father to harrass her, and now he's stalking her around town with the assumption of wooing her into his arms. Sadie has had enough and she just ran into a delicious interference to help ease things along.

Introducing Deke, the glorious retired military biker she spotted earlier during her night out with the girls. What starts off as a request to help her catch a cab while pretending to be her new loving man to tell whats-his-face off, ends up being a sweet ride on mystery man's bike and a gentleman's kind goodbye with a strong yearning to meet Deke again.

The Fates seem to keep pulling these to lost loves together, and connecting them in many ways. But Deke has a secret and his team head isn't thrilled with his involvement with this innocent 'cavilian', warning Deke to step out of Sadie's life.

Sorry, bub. That just isn't going to happen. Luck would have it they suit eachother perfectly, helping one another heal from trauma and it helps that they both have amazing friends, thorough their mean wells end up causing more problems than good.

I wished there was more detailed drama between Sadie and that ash of a man who was following her around. It felt more like a way to help carry the story forward while the main leads worked on their relationship further. Same for her dad drama. Otherwise it was a great read and I flew through the chapters fast

This was better than I expected after reading that synopsis. It’s basically fluff, but it’s well written fluff with good characters and plausible events. There’s no “villain” and no big climax where they defeat the bad guy or any of that. It’s just boy meets girl, they run into each other a few times, she asks him to be her fake date to fend off her exbf and her controlling dad, and they grow closer despite him being ordered by his alpha to avoid humans since his wolf is too dangerous (years of military service killing people and an unusually violent wolf in him that flies off the handle too easily).

Despite it being such a simple plot, I still very much enjoyed it, much more than I normally do with these lighter fair books. Their attraction felt very real and both characters grow a bit over the course of the book.

The guy is heavily military and we see a few of their ops during the book. And the girl is a kindergarten teacher, which has its adorable moments when the big tough military werewolves interact with her school kids.

As for the spice… super hot! 😎
