Reflection: Rulers And Preys stars a student politician Comrade Oluwatimileyin Turner, Chief Whip, a cynical, manipulative politician determined to become President. He is willing to use every secret he knows, every pressure point he can find, and every dirty trick in the book to secure his own rise to power—and in the process confirms just about every dark and terrible thing you thought you knew about politics.
The author, Ajagbe Ayodeji drew on his extensive real-life experience in student politics for the book, and the result is an electrifying vision of how exceedingly violent governing can be behind closed doors.
Exceptional and great book, a must read for everyone, truths were said, facts were made, it had deep lessons and it was romantic. We are expecting more of this Ajagbe Ayodeji, you are a great author.
Great read! Highly recommend. I’m usually not much of a political thriller reader, but the story flowed so well and it’s indeed a reflection of what’s happening in our country right now. The characters stick with you, and it was easy to get hooked by the first chapter. Love the writing. Check it out!
This book is incredible. It is a suspenseful, keep you on the edge of your seat kind of read! I especially enjoyed the fact that the author writes this from the perspective of a corrupt student politician who managed to buy his way into power in a very terrible way. The ideas are so unique and fresh and I cannot wait for What Happened To Helen to come out! :-)
Perhaps more than any other author, Ayodeji writes fiction perfectly situated in the mood of Nigeria: novels that acknowledge the tenacity of evil but also the power of good; that celebrate common men and women; that at their best entertain vastly as they uplift.
From the very first chapter, you know this story isn't messing around. Thrown into the mix and action straight away, the author does a brilliant job of character development and world building. You never feel safe, when it comes to the fight for power. From the terrifying world outside, to the dictatorship style life everyone is forced to live in this book, it's extremely well written and paced. I look forward to the author's debut novel.
Very well written with lots of intrigues. The plots and the twists and turns in the story were excellent. I had to finish the book in one straight read as I could not put it down. Luckily it is not a very long book and could be completed in a few hours of reading. Anyone who enjoys political thriller will enjoy reading Reflection Rulers And Preys. I highly recommend.
This is one of the best books I've read in a while and I'm very happy that the author is brave enough to write about bad government and poor leadership in our tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The author was right in chapter six when he said the comrades are elected only as a ceremonial figure. No executive duties, nothing... Just show offs and bluffs, that's all they do!
Kudos author Ayodeji. We're patiently waiting for the next release (•‿•)
Nice story plot but I feel the author really needs to work more on the character's names. Some just doesn't go along well with the story and I think the publishers really need to take time and work on the formatting because it's an off.
I bought a copy from the author's website so I think I got the original copy, I don't know if the paperback format is like that too but I think the publishers really need to work more on the formatting.
Politics has always been a dirty game no matter who plays it. If you are not ready to compromise or be comprised, then politics is not for you. I've read series of journals about corruption and bad government in Nigeria and this books just confirmed that corruption exists in all levels of government. I commend the author for having the courage to write this book, I got a copy from Amazon last week
Overall, I really enjoyed reading Reflection Rulers And Preys. It took me a couple of chapters to realize the numerous story lines, but the moment I got into the flow, I couldn't put the book down. There was never a dull moment.
The book didn't end as I thought it would but I like the fact that the author, Ajagbe Ayodeji raises intriguing questions about life as student, evil in the mind of man and faith that are worthy of reflecting on
I think everything has been said in the reviews posted already but I'd love to make emphasis on the ebook formatting. There are way too many spaces in between which shouldn't be so. I look forward to reading your debut novel. Sending you love all the way from Benin republic ♥️
Reflection: Rulers and Preys is a captivating political thriller novel that takes place in a popular Nigeria tertiary institution. The author, Ajagbe Ayodeji, has masterfully crafted a story that is both intriguing and thought-provoking, delving into the complex world of student politics and the power struggles that ensue.
The novel follows the story of three students - Comrade Tolulope Owoeye, Comrade Arinola Osewa, and Oluwatimileyin Turner - who find themselves entangled in the web of campus politics. Arinola Osewa is a charismatic and ambitious young woman who dreams of becoming the first female faculty president. Tolulope Owoeye, her friend, is a smart and politically astute young man who sees the potential in Kemi and encourages her to pursue her dreams by planning permutation. Oluwatimileyin Turner, on the other hand, is a shady character who has a hidden agenda and is willing to do whatever it takes to gain power and become the president.
As the story progresses, the three students become embroiled in a power struggle for control of the faculty. They encounter many challenges along the way, including betrayal, violence, and intimidation. The author does an excellent job of portraying the high stakes of campus politics and the lengths that people will go to gain power.
One of the things that stood out to me about Reflection: Rulers and Preys is how it sheds light on the political realities of the Nigerian tertiary institutions and the federal republic of Nigeria as a whole. The book portrays a system that is rife with corruption, where the most powerful students/candidates are the ones with the most money and connections. The author does not shy away from depicting the violence and intimidation that often accompany student politics in Nigeria, giving readers a glimpse into a world that is often hidden from view.
Overall, Reflection: Rulers and Preys is a well-written and engaging political thriller that is sure to keep readers on the edge of their seats. The characters are well-developed, and the plot is full of twists and turns that will keep readers guessing until the very end. The book is a must-read for anyone interested in Nigerian politics or student politics in general.
It is so hard to believe this author’s story is actually true. The book seems very over exaggerated. The book is simply nothing more than a superficial glow of events. I know so many Wattpad writers who write better than you and I don’t even have to start mentioning names. Even though Cynthia looks up to you, she’s ten times better than you.
It is an exceptional and a very good book I would recommend to everyone irrespective of their political stand.Refection: Rulers and preys is a must have
I didn’t get far in it. I’ll try it another time. For me sometimes it’s not the book itself, it’s what’s going on in my life or the days I plan to read it.
