3.5 for this highly dramatic erotica

- over use of exclamation points making every sentence, statement, declaration seem like the characters were shouting to one another. There was even ! when they were ordering a meal. There's no need for that many.
- confusing dialogue that had conversations take place in the same paragraph that had me double back several times to clarify who was speaking
- backwards sentences, eg; "... Val pulled the pant legs through each ankle..." In my mind, I immediately corrected it to, "... Val pulled each ankle through the pant legs..." There were similar issues throughout, including continuity problems.

This story read like a high school play with overreactions to everything. The revenge plot was amateurish at best, and when it all unfolded, it was quite confusing. As much as I just ragged on this story, I couldn't seem to put it down. It was entertaining, but maybe that's because it reminded me of a high school dance where the outcast girl received a snide comment from the popular girl and minutes later the drama is unfolding inside the girls' washroom.

Needs another round of proofreading, but it was entertaining.

Will Be An Interesting Series!

I like the story. I had trouble with the level of naive that was going on with Val. This is a writer for a rock and roll band and even though we have all fallen for someone who is not good for us, this just felt very in your face. The support from her band mates though showed what truth is. Stone, who is in love with Val, became her protector from her sex crazed and bad tempered girlfriend Lolly, and tried to keep the peace with the rest of the band which Val loved her for. There are feelings there that are under the surface because of her love for Lolly. As the band, V for Valentine is gaining popularity, Lolly is hanging on more to Val, using her powers over her to manipulate her to do things Lolly’s way. Even though the band sees what is going on, without hurting Val, they keep to their beliefs in trying to keep Lolly from sucking the life out of Val and their band. As the story unravels, Lolly’s manipulation of Val and Belle her own band mate , who she is screwing on the side, all starts to come to a head. Ahhh, sweet revenge. If you are an Emily Hayes fan as I am, you will love how this ends and then check out the epilogue Emily always gives at the end of a story.

2 stars. Lolly’s point of view chapters added nothing and took away from the main romance. She wasn’t needed at all. Val is an idiot but Stone was hot. This book did nothing for me unfortunately. I was annoyed from beginning to end and I didn’t buy into the romance between Val and Stone. Wasn’t a fan of this one at all.

Decent

This is a pretty decent story but not one of her best. Overall . not bad but I had trouble identifying with Val. To jump from one woman to the next so incredibly fast made her seem shallow. Like I said decent but not her best story

The best Valentine

Such a great romance book by Emily Hayes. I’m really enjoying the sweetness and tenderness in the Celesbian series. Stone and Val’s romance is so nice and you can feel their chemistry on the pages. The story kept me interested from start to finish!

Another hot one from Emily Hayes. This book was emotionally heavier than other books by this author. But still manages to end up being a sexy romance with a happily ever after.

Nice

This story had me wondering how anyone could be as naive as Val. Lolly took complete advantage of her. Stone is my hero. A partner like her would be great.

I remember reading this, after the first 10 or so chapters, and forgot that I hadn't left a review from the first one. So, here goes. At first, even upon second reading, it felt like it was a bit generic, like it was just another one of those star-crossed, age-gappy, overly drawn out stories, and yet, here I was, upon second reading, rather enjoying the story and the characters. I thought it was good, but after a second read, am comfortable leaving it at a solid 4 stars.

Enjoyable!

Well written with vivid characters, this was an excellent book to curl up with on a lazy afternoon. But..., (there's always a but, isn't there) I disliked having to make a separate download for the epilog. In the end, it was worth it. (Notice I didn't deduct a ☆ for it.)
