Teenage Detective Marianna Mestre Is Back
Marianna Mestre is back sleuthing and navigating teenage drama in this Upper Middle Grade series.

Still grappling with the death of Mrs. Henderson and the sudden disappearance of Ms. Lauren, Marianna is desperate to find Ms. Lauren and have justice served. But will the truth bring about closure and forgiveness? Fortunately, other mysteries keep Marianna preoccupied, including a school-wide prank that teams Marianna up with her friends and, surprisingly, her nemesis to solve. But what happens when they do? Proving someone’s innocence also means proving someone else’s guilt—and at what price?

Summer break issues a new set of adventures. Marianna has been selected to a prestigious FBI Youth camp, and her boyfriend (she is still getting used to having one) heads to the beach for the summer. Will their fledgling relationship survive?

With high school approaching, Marianna feels her secure little world changing all around her, causing her to see things in a whole new light. Marianna must now learn to ride the transitions of life, and in doing so, she sees that things can look a whole lot different on the other side of the lens.

Teenage detective Marianna Mestre can get to the truth of any mystery. It's the uncertainties of life and adolescents that Marianna finds most confusing. Join Marianna as she discovers unconventional friendships, ventures into a new world of dating, and navigates middle and high school drama. This coming-of-age series chronicles the teenage life of Marianna who was raised by her single father. Poignant and meaningful lessons are unveiled through the eyes of Marianna as she shares her fears, insecurities, and hopes with readers.

I enjoyed reading the second book of the series. You can see how the characters are evolving and the plot was nicely written.

This is the second book of the series and readers can read it without having to read the first book since the author nicely recaps throughout the pages the points that the reader needs to know from the first book. This book follows 14 year old Marianna to her new adventures as she learns more things about a case from the first book and is also involved in other cases both at the school and at the FBI camp where she goes.

I would recommend it to teen and young adults mystery readers!

I received a free ARC copy of this book, I am voluntarily leaving a review and this did not affect my review.

This book is even better than the first. More mysteries to solve and new friendships develop in this sequel. I really recommend this series.
