Like many little girls, I too used to dream of fairytales.
Until that illusion was shattered, and I saw firsthand just how cruel life could be.
Now I just wished my nightmare would end.

The life I knew ceased to exist as I suffered at the hands of my stepmother, who hated me.
I fought to escape and once I did, I thought life would become normal again, but that couldn’t have been further from the truth.

Tragedy was woven in my bloodstream, hiding in my DNA structure. I had a sliver of peace before it all went to hell again…

I stumbled across the men who were sent to assassinate me.
They became my tormentors until someone from my past showed up.
Instead of killing me, we made a new deal.
In exchange for helping me claim my empire back, they wanted me as payment.

I trusted them until I was betrayed.
Snow White got her happily ever after…
But me? I wondered if I’d ever get mine.

Triggers: This book contains situations that may be difficult for some to read which includes but not limited to: MM within the harem, forbidden/taboo (MM Tw!nc3st) relationship between two brothers, mental and physical abuse, murder, noncon and dubcon, blood and violence as well as kidnapping just to name a few.

Her love of Dark Romance really began when she moved to the US and fell in love with reading all over again. She had no plans on ever writing a book or publishing but Cole was very persistent and now she can't think of doing anything else!

She loves writing as much as she loves reading and can't wait to bring you more dark romance reads! The journey so far has been a dream thanks to all her amazing readers and she can't thank them enough for taking a chance on her books and loving those characters as much as she does!

thumbnail-IMG-0091-copy-2-1 '🅿🅾🅸🆂🅾🅽🅴🅳 🆃🅷🆁🅾🅽🅴' Is a full length darker, twisted loose retelling of 'Snow White' by Nikita. Spoken in 'Multiple POV's.'

I’ve only just encountered this author recently and now I’ve inhaled all her books.

This one ticked all the boxes, stabby, angsty, dark and gritty which had my dark soul rejoicing. The sex scenes were beyond 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Adelaide is a mafia princess whose world came crashing down around her when her father passes away and she's left in the care of her new stepmother. Let me tell you, this woman is EVIL, all in the name of POWER. She wants it all and she won't stop until Adelaide is DEAD.
All her father's loyal men have abandoned ship and have sided with her stepmother so she has no allies and is alone in the world.

The 'seven dwarves' are 'Silas, Daemon, Cage, Carter, Declan, Blaze, and Maxcen' the men in this story, are the assassins who have been hired to take her out, these men should be on the covers of magazines, all are hot, all are badasses, all are killers.

When they enter the story the heat is turned up..

Our heroine went from a young defensive abused girl to a killing machine who wrung revenge on all that betrayed her family honour.

This was so easy to get into and harder to put down. Was a wee bit messy in some places but all in all this author is fast becoming one I will read at a drop of a hat.

All dark reverse harem whores will love this one, if you have triggers heed the warnings at the beginning of this book.

I struggled bad with this book. It needs an editor.
If this book was ran by an editor, then it needs a new one.
It also needs quality beta readers who can give honest and constructive criticism because this book was an absolute mess.

The characters were an absolute disaster.
Extremely juvenile writing.
The dialogue between all of the characters was so cringe worthy, that I actually had to skim through scenes where there was actual conversations between characters.

The author threw in backstories purely for shock value which is fine but it just didn’t really work.
There is twincest- which honestly was the only believable relationship in this entire book.
The harem had absolutely zero relationship build up. Like at all.

Going through all the other low star reviews, I do have to agree with all of the criticism with this book.
The plot is great.
The writing is not.

I didn't hate this story but I also didn't love it. It had a lot of interesting parts but I felt like the execution of scenes then took away all of the intrigue. There were so many things we were told happened but we never actually saw them and it made it hard to connect with the story or to actually get really involved in it. Also there weren't a lot of time jumps but there were some here and there that took me out of the story because it felt like we were skipping over some important scenes. Or at least important to the group dynamic to actually make it feel like these characters liked each other.

This is a darker retelling of Snow White and I enjoyed the author’s creativity. The FMC is the daughter/heir to the bratva and after her father dies she is tortured by her evil stepmother. The “seven dwarves” are actually a group of assassins, and we very much like them.

I like that the author was able to give us some background on each of the characters and build up the world a decent amount. She also briefly brought in characters from her other series so although this is a standalone you can continue on with some of the world, which I will definitely be doing. Although we didn’t delve as deeply into some of the characters, we were given some insight into what made them the way that they were. As well, there were point of views for not only the female main character and men but also the evil stepmother.

This was a standalone so I did find that some things seemed a little more rushed but it didn’t affect the action. I also felt that we didn’t really get to really know the men but I don’t think that was as important for this story. It probably would’ve been nice but it’s not like we had much character development with them.

This was a good mix of a mafia and fairytale retelling with some darkness, taboo and steam. Read your trigger warnings but I didn’t think this was really dark for me but it could be triggering for others. I do love a good revenge story and this book delivered.

Review :
Damn , that was really really dark. This author never holds back when it comes to writing dark romance and her dark scenes are downright brutal. It sort of adds a twisted edge to her books which I love to read!

The storyline of this book was good. I just wish she had glossed out the torture scenes a bit lmao because they made me uncomfortable but I guess they were necessary to see the character progress. This one was a real taboo read. It has MM , MFM , RH and so many more tropes. I think everyone was sleeping with everyone lmao. The storyline was very very dark and I liked the way it was plotted and those chapters from the villain’s POV gave much more depth to the story.

However , there was one thing that I did not like and that was the immediate switching of emotions between the characters. It sort of gave me a whiplash. That is a recurring pattern with this author's books and I think this is the only factor holding her back from becoming one of the top dark romance authors because other than this she has everything sorted out when it comes to her books! I just wish she elaborated on the emotional scenes , like one minute her characters are angry and then the next they are going through a breaking session where they are emotionally dead. This one happens with her heroines and I hope she does something about this. Just a suggestion lmao.

That being said , I will definitely recommend this book to all the dark , twisted , taboo romance loving people out there. Like I said , this author does not hold back on the triggering scenes and there are torture scenes with a very detailed explanation so please keep those triggers in ming before picking this one up.

i stayed up ALLLLL NIGHT reading this phenomenal story!!!
when I tell you I was hooked from the beginning I mean this had its claws in me so deep that there was so way I was putting it down.
It was gory, it was thrilling, it was dark, it was incredibly gruesome and omg it was the HOTTEST REVERSE HAREM.
Am not even joking though right, every time I read a ✨group activity✨ all I could think was “where do the arms and legs go?” 🤣 absolutely pissing myself.
The verbal foreplay and the chemistry between Adelaide and the boys was just was amazing. Like she really did know how to put them in their place, her come backs has me howling!!! Oh I love a strong FMC… She literally went through hell and back and she carried on fighting til the very end. Strong and brave are bloody understatements. She was a queen!!!!
When I say the boys were smoking hot, I mean they were SMOKING hot!!!! Like HOT HOT HOT. i was flustered, panting, swooning, it was just absolutely everything!!!
I cannot get over the crazy plot twists, i was literally slamming the book down, high pitch squealing and just straight up refusing to come to terms with the madness in this story. I’m truly shook to the core.
"We're both covered in blood, brat. It's the only way for us, all of us. Our life will forever be filled with bloodbath
after bloodbath so why not bathe in it and revel in the bloody mess we can make of each other.”

I’m so annoyed

I was expecting better.
I love taboo, dark reads and really enjoy a Snow White retelling so my review isn’t about the content, it’s about the writing.

The character development is lacking and at some points contradicting. The storyline was set up in such a way that developing her character could have been explored more. It didn’t seem like the author did any research on mental health and personality changes of trauma survivors so the writing reflected surface level understanding. This is the same for the MMCs. Max and Carter were very big parts of the book the others didn’t really get much attention. How did their relationships grow with Adelaide? What made her love them? Then there was the whole feeling when something isn’t right. Adelaide always had a feeling when something was wrong, why didn’t she listen to her instincts? Why didn’t she learn from her mistakes? Is she a damsel or her own hero ?

The flow of the story wasn’t quite right either. Should this maybe be two books or was there stuff that wasn’t needed? Toward the end it felt like we were rushing to end. Things didn’t quite add up e.g. she was an only child, knew she would be heir to her fathers empire, they were close but she didn’t know about the safe in his office, then all off a sudden she has this necklace key but there was no mention of it at all through the book but it is crucial to getting in the safe.

I think this book needs a bit of a review and maybe a re-write because I think it could be really good.

Dark Romance Reader Problems.
When a fairy tale retelling Is so good, you'll never be able to read the original without having dirty thoughts again.

Poisoned Throne is a reverse harem and a loose retelling of Snow White. The biggest similarity I'm willing to spoil is that there are seven men and the biggest difference is this story is a lot darker than the original.

Adelaide’s a mafia princess, but she isn't living a lavish lifestyle.
She’s caged and abused after losing everyone important to her.
Like a true badass, she doesn’t let the abuse break her and fights back every chance she gets.
When Adelaide finally escapes, she disappears, intending to exact her revenge and reclaim her throne.

“You think you’re the queen? Don’t make me laugh. You’re just filling the position until I’m ready to take this poisoned throne back from you!”

Silas, Daemon, Cage, Carter, Declan, Blaze, and Maxcen are the men in this story.
They’re assassins hired to kill Adelaide, and once they find her, the real fun begins.

I don't want to give away anything else, but I'll leave some juicy details below.

🍎 Virgin FMC
🍎 Twincest (MM)
🍎 Dub con
🍎 Double Pen

I would recommend this book to anyone that likes dark reverse harems or fairy tale retellings, but I highly suggest checking the trigger warning beforehand if you're easily triggered.

Ok, I have thoughts and opinions on this book!!

This was pitched to me as a dark reverse harem retelling of Snow White - so YES, I was 100% in based on that on description and I did enjoy this book - mostly.

So, I know it said "dark retelling" but I feel like this book needs to come with some intense trigger warnings. I know it has a few, but no girl, you needed a lot more. This is dark (like dark dark) and it jumps right into the dark parts in the first dang chapter. So while I was expecting a dark story, I was definitely not expecting something on this level and so my expectations almost ruined my enjoyment of the book, because I thought I was going to be getting one thing and I got something completely different. I think if she or anyone in the reviews had properly set up my expectations, then I wouldn't have gotten as annoyed or struggled quite as much through this book. So heads up - this is dark and so you need to know thyself before reading.

While we're talking about expectations, let's talk about the reverse harem, because again, expectations vs. reality and in reality I didn't love the way this RH came together. I didn't love the way they treated our FMC at first, because I was expecting the love storyline to go a certain way. If I had known going in that every character in this book was a complete psycho, I could've prepared myself better. Because while I didn't love how the RH came together, I did love all the individual parts of the RH and I think there was potential for things to be *chef's kiss* good here. But what we got was some toxic ass love.

And finally I have 2 very conflicting opinions and yes, I'm aware they're conflicting. #1 - I think this book could've been a series, like 3-4 books. Since everyone is a psycho and there's a lot of trauma and intense back story for every damn character and the story has so many interesting elements - I think she could've given us MORE and easily filled a series, but a duet at the minimum. #2 - I found myself lightly skimming sections when I wanted the author to get to the freaking point.

So I know those are conflicting, because I'm saying the pacing was off, but then I'm also saying I wish the story was longer, but hear me out: I think I was skimming and frustrated with the pacing because I wanted more from the story. Once I realized we were going to be getting a very top level, surface view of parts of the story, I was ready to just have the plot move forward. If we could've spent more time building back stories and character development and especially the RH then I would've been satisfied and wouldn't have felt the urge for the author to just get to the point. There were some time jumps and in those jumps that's when the RH clearly developed into something strong, but we were TOLD that on page vs. being shown that. So we missed some very important elements of the story during the time jump, in my opinion. Like I said, a surface level, basic overview of things is what the author was giving us instead of an in depth look into the characters and story. Think novella.

So, do I recommend this book? Well, it depends. If you can't handle dark romance books, I'm talking non-consent, sexual assault, physical and emotional abuse, dubious consent, incest, kidnapping, torture, and a whole heap of other triggers most of which are on-page, then this one isn't for you. But if you can handle that? Then this is a really interesting book and you might "enjoy" it.. As much as you can enjoy some of the triggers above, ya know?

A fairytale retelling loosely based on Snow White, which includes sexy guys, an evil stepmother in a bratva backdrop, and even apples. Adelaide, an heiress to an empire after the untimely and questionable death of her father, is left in the hands of her power-hungry stepmother. But succession lines and assets aren't as easy to assume as her traitorous and abusive stepmother soon discovers. This story follows Adelaide's rise to power and reclaim of her heredity where, along the way, she meets her guys who will be her love interests and integral to her destined role.

This story contained all the plot elements to be captivating, but its execution was wanting -- a combination of overly, needlessly descriptive text, which stunted story progression, and writing style, which read too casual, too informal, and not fluid. The diction and banter I would expect of an affluent, high-society heroine within the context of this story was instead almost street-like, juvenile with lots of colloquialism. Not only jolting from an immersion standpoint but also authenticity, introducing disconnectedness in the communication and in their rapport. I could feel the antipathy of the characters, but not their connectedness, not the warm feelings for each other, which is essential to establishing attraction, sexual tension.

Perhaps a matter of writing maturity as I found the storyline well-intended, entertaining, and very spicy, it simply could not hold my attention for the inordinate telling and writing style and unrealistic character development. A good story with potential as the plot line is creative.

Very Good

DP and DVP. That'll get you 2 stars with me already. Not one, but 2 MM relationships already in existence before the MFC shows up so that's another 2 stars. Those relationships don't end when the MFC shows up which is great but they don't get the same attention as before. They are definitely pushed to the background. Group action with all 8. But the spicy scenes move way too fast. They switch positions oh, and now they're done. OK. The story itself is a nice play on the Snow White tale. Snow is super dark and holds her own, another star, but she is very childish overall. I love that she has a sassy mouth but her comebacks were mostly just silly and made it look like she was constantly throwing a temper tantrum. The evil Stepmother's motivation is nonsensical but whatever. A lot of time jumps that'll give you whiplash.

All you Reverse Harem lovers out there, go no further this book will definitely be one that you need to read. It’s got dark elements , taboo/forbidden aspects, mental and physical abuse, non con, dub con, and all the gory violent things.

Let me tell you when I first started this book I did not know what to expect, and from the moment the pages went by I knew that this book was definitely going to be a dark hit.

This book was a loose retelling of snow white and the seven dwarfs with the dwarfs being in the form of the sexiest guys alive, all unique and out of this world ruthless. The thing I loved with this retelling was how this author created her very own spin on it and gave us such a twisted version.

This book had a perfect blend of everything that us readers want. The dark aspects made me thirsty with adrenaline and rage as I couldn’t wait for the revenge to be given. These characters were absolutely amazing, these 7 guys were awaiting to meet their final piece and they found her. The connections that blossomed were incredible and I was left with a smile on my face with how much love was thrown into this book.

One thing I loved the most was the brotherhood that these guys had with one another, they aren’t just these assassins with their many skills set, they are brothers who will do anything to protect one another and when they meet Adelaide they are done for.

It was amazing to witness that downfall. It had your lightness, your darkness, it made you feel rage like no other as the things you witness and read about was insane.

Poisoned Throne by Nikita is a very twisted and crazy dark Snow White retelling in form of a dark reverse harem mafia romance. It was full of filthy dirty passion and lots of action.
.
Adelaide Romanov is the princess of Romanov mafia empire. Her stepmother makes her life hell after killing her father because she needs the right will to gain all the power. She is rescued by Maxcin, an assassin who gave promise to her father and she runs away and makes a new life in America. But few years later, her identity gets exposed and her stepmother gives a contract to The Scorpion, an elite and lethal group of assassins. Now will they hunt her and kill her? Or will they become her protector?
.
The story was told from multiple POV. This story is ideal for you if you want super steamy romance with lots of deviant passion. While I loved the sexy parts, I think it was lacking in emotions. I didn't feel for any character. The guys were various shades of c0cky, arrogant, merciless bad boys with darkness of their own. Adelaide had promise of becoming a fierce heroine and she has her moments. But even after years of torture and training, she didn't actually behave like the mafia heir. She comes across very immature sometimes. I wanted to see how the bond among the guys and the heroine grows. That was missing here too.

I reviewed an early copy voluntarily

I only had a few expansions but I’m honestly really disappointed.
Why the hell is there incest in the book and why are all the characters so incongruous. They just don’t match properly and I needed to skip parts of the dialogue because I couldn’t bare another second of reading it.
Also back to the incest part? Why why why would you??
The plot was good tho, the writing wasn’t.

I love a dark romance I really do. But the writing style needs to be good to make a book enjoyable. This wasn't.

Once again, a book about a protagonist where the MMC abuse her physically and psychologically and the FMC doesn't care, because they are hot, therefore she falls in love with them in the middle of the abuse.
This is not a badass FMC, it is a pathetic main character. If they are skinning you alive (literally) please stop lusting after them.

It looks like the writer started the book with a bunch of scenes, then connected them and wrote a little more in between scenes and hit the 'publish' button.
It doesn't even look like she read it once in a row. There are contradictory scenes ON THE SAME PAGE.
When they are at the party and Adelaide goes to the bathroom thinking about how strange everything seems and that it is better to stay with Carter just in case, TWO PARAGRAPHS below, on the same page, she begins to tell how she is going to escape through the window. This isn't even editing, it's reading your work just once. I guess she wasn't even able to read it herself and she decided that someone else should do it.

"ninety-five million is chump change for us, princess. Individually, we're rich as fuck but combined, we have over a billion dollars"
"Wow, they're almost as rich as I'll be once I have my inheritance"

YOU CAN'T TELL ME THIS IS QUALITY WRITING. THIS WAS SO CRINGE.

About halfway through the book, things get a lot worse. Carter and the boys take her to her house where they make her walk through the dark hallways just so they can scare her? That's supposed to amuse them but it's all a bit ridiculous. Adelaide faints and remembers a horrible episode with her stepmother and a well full of bugs. After you, the reader, are left with a very unpleasant sensation in her body, the dream ends and they begin to rape her. Which in itself is disgusting, but right after the bugs... really, mind the timing. They take her to another room where they rape her again and personally, you have to read the whole scene diagonally because the dialogue is... embarrassing at the best of times. They have kidnapped you, they are beating you and cutting you with a knife and you begin to analyze each person's traumas saying that they have it under control, not like you, who are a disaster.
But what kind of internal monologue is that.

The stepmother's reasons for having the empire are ridiculous, she only justifies it with the fact that she wants 'money and power', but without having the empire she is capable of shelling out 95 MILLION to be brought to Adelaide. Besides the amount of money they mention from time to time that she pays for bullshit. Another thing that does not make sense in the book, the author puts very high prices on many things that simply does not make sense, the mother would already have more money than many rich people have just for being the widow, she already has an army at her command. The fact that she wants to be the owner of the family just for money and power is very weak, especially when she shows that she already has it, and there is no need to steal it from Adelaide.
Also because of how Adelaide talks about recovering her empire 'and all that shit'. It seems that not even the writer knows how she is going to have it or what exactly she has to recover.

I wish they would stop publishing books where the author summarizes every 5 pages what just happened in the story. I know what just happened, I just read it, why do you have to explain it to me again with other words?

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Like many little girls, I too used to dream of fairytales. Until that illusion was shattered, and I saw firsthand just how cruel like could be. Now I just wished my nightmare would end. The life I knew ceased to exist as I suffered at the hands of my stepmother who hated me. In exchange for helping me claim my empire bac, the wanted me as payment. I trusted them until I was betrayed. Snow Whit got her happily ever after.....But me? I wondered if I'd ever get mine.

This is a dark retelling of Snow White and you will want to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. This is a reverse harem read that is forbidden and taboo. There will be things in here that are triggers for some readers. Proceed with caution.
This is one twisted tale of a girl names Adelaide Romanov. The daughter of the head of the Romanov Bratva and he is dying. Before long Adelaide finds herself in a mess with her stepmother who hates her and really wants her dead but she needs her and her fathers will that Adelaide has no idea where is. This is a girl raised in the mafia, so she wouldn't tell even if she did know. But her father told her some things before she died and she knows that at twenty one she will inherit his seat with the Bratva and her stepmother wants it all and will do and kill anyone she has to to get it and keep it. She is so cruel and I promise you are going to hate her with a fiery passion. But along comes Max and he is her savior but she doesn't know it and if they are caught the game will be up for the both of them. And so begins and exciting twisted tale of some broken and fierce character that had me turning the pages well in to the night. I did not want to put this book down.

I seriously couldn’t put this book down as soon as I started reading it. I needed to know what was going to happen next.

I wasn’t sure what to expect reading this book but I was not disappointed in the slightest. So much violence and with it being Mafia you really want that in your story 🖤

I really enjoyed the storyline of Adalaide and how the events of her life make her into the strong badass female character she ended up being 🖤

Now let’s talk about those men 🥵 OMG they are some seriously hot guys and the spice was next level. The MM on top of everything else was fabulous. There is some taboo themes within the group which I’m here for in my books.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I’m now going to head onto her other books, especially those involving some of the characters from this book 🖤

This is a dark and twisted tale with lots of triggers so please be aware of them before reading. Amazing book and I’m soooo pleased I was recommended it and pushed it up my tbr 😍

Adelaide
'Silas, Daemon, Cage, Carter, Declan, Blaze, and Maxcen' Assassins

I listened to the audio. The narrators did a good job, I especially loved the voice of Adelaide.

This is one of the darkest twisted retelling of Snow White I have listened to. I haven't read many but this one also had some moments that had me cringing and couldn't believe what some of these characters had to endure.

I love how feisty and mouthy Adelaide was no matter what she had to face as people especially her wicked stepmother tried to tear her down. Then you have the assasins seven hot guys who fall instantly for Adelaide. This is set in a bratva world. I really love how Adelaide wasn't portrayed as a helpless heroine who needed saving and when it became time to get back what was hers it was awesome. I really enjoyed listening to this and look forward to others from this author. Hoping her friend she made in N.Y. has a story because when she appeared and the bits and pieces of what she was going through had me intrigued.

Snow White...who?! Adelaide is the improved version! Her life is still hell, but she certainly has more backbone than the original...and things get way more interesting and def less chaste than a simple kiss..just saying?!
I wouldn’t classify this as dark, personally, but I understand not everyone is as twisted as I am lol.
I really enjoyed it and was hooked from beginning to end!

A dark and twisted modern retelling of Snow White and her seven hot as hell men!! Be sure to check the trigger warnings before reading.

I had a hard time getting into this story. It wasn't for lack of a good storyline. Some books just reach out and grab you and some do not. Unfortunately, this one did not. With that said, I did enjoy the heat between Adelaide and her men because, well, who wouldn't.

I gave it 3 stars because, as I said, the storyline was good, but the plot was just over flooded with information and it was hard for me to keep an interest in it.

I'd still recommend this book. I know there will be some who will love it.

3/5⭐️ 3.5/5🔥
STEAM: 4/5🌶

I’ve been anticipating this Snow White retelling and damn, seven assassins, one bravta princess, an evil stepmother.. this story had so much more potential. I felt as though the time jumps/ four year character development with Adelaide was not it. She still felt as immature as she was when she was 17.

The story begins with Adelaide at her fathers grave and coming back to be captured and held by her stepmother. The next year is BRUTAL for Adelaide. The stepmother wants something that she nor Adelaide know the location of , when she finally escapes she gets strong to defeat her stepmother when the time comes and that’s when the seven assassins come in. Each resemble a bit of the seven dwarfs in a way, it’s told in multiple POVs and I loved that however the authors writing just wasn’t for me as much as I loved the potential storyline. It could’ve been more , there were scenes I skipped so the spicy scale might be a bit off because there is TWINCEST, I’m all for taboo BUT INCEST. I wasn’t aware of it but I still read and skipped those scenes. I’m actually a twin and I just couldn’t 😅

TW/CW: MM, Incest between twins (TWINCEST), MF, MFM, MMFMMMMM, rape, torture, violence

So I’ve never actually giving this low of a review before because I like to give benefit of the doubt. But, I very much dislike the other readers who gave this raving reviews because they got my hopes up. At the beginning I had a weird feeling about it cause it really wasn’t pulling me in, but I kept going to see if it would get any better. It didn’t, but I personally can’t not finish a book so I forced myself to and I can say I positively did not like this. The female main character kept annoying me with the constant repetition of the same statements in slightly diff ways one right after the other. I felt like poking my eyes out trying to get through this book. I’ve never hated a character as much as I do her. The only somewhat well written part was the smut, that’s it. Half the book leads up to it, which I wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t so repetitive with the female character and if I didn’t hate her. I wouldn’t recommend this book. I’ve never said that before and I’m not trying to be mean. I think the author needs to have team to help edits and refine the story itself. The idea was great, the execution not so much.

I will start by saying the plot had a ton of promise. It was a unique story line and I think it has the potential to be something great. The problem lies with the execution of the story. It read as very juvenile and her inner thoughts became so frustratingly annoying that I had to keep skipping through parts because it was just nonsense inner monologue rambling (which took up at least 50% of the book!). I couldn’t connect with any of the characters and couldn’t feel any warmth between them to indicate the love that they shared. Again this could be a really great story but I think it needs a big overhaul.

This was my first listen/read from this author and they definitely had my attention and I will be looking for any additional audiobooks they bring to us to listen to!

I loved the play on Snow White, the evil stepmonster, the 7 guys and "Snow" with her pale white skin, the poisoned apples, etc. haha. I thought they weren't too overpowering or gimmicky, they were done well and some were subtle it took me a bit to realize it (with the number of guys especially!!). I do think there were some things that kept me from giving it a 5 stars, most with Adelaide and her personality changes (one minute she would be strong and then next breakdown for something random and freak out), some inconsistencies with the storyline (she said she didn't understand how Americans interacted when she was on the run in NYC at the club but she had been living in Cali for years at that point so she would have figured out the UK vs. US differences by then). Those sorts of things that would be cleaned up with proofing, editing, beta reading, etc. The storyline was still good and kept me engaged but some things needed more polishing.

I will say with audio you don't get to hear any trigger warnings or generic high level ones based on where the narrators start so there are a couple things I was not ready for. I was totally fine with them, but I was shocked and had to rewind a couple times to make sure I got it right hahaha. I thought the sexy times were great, except like the first group one was pretty intense and no offense Adelaide was not prepped enough for what she endured (again something that was missed or just not addressed in the different rounds of editing/polishing up before release). Some things felt rushed but the majority of the scenes were paced well, felt genuine for these guys' unhingedness, and helped motivate me while cleaning my house, it never was boring or awkward I can tell you that!

I did a little research when I had 40 minutes left because I wanted to know if there were any spinoffs or interconnected works with this story/universe and was happy to see there were some! Not on audio yet but I will be checking back periodically to see if they do release.

Overall I enjoyed this dark RH/poly romance. I had a couple favorites of the guys but overall I thought Adelaide stuck up for herself well, could protect herself time and time again. I enjoyed how the ending happened and hope we get a check in with them in that spinoff story (or in future ones). I think they would be hilarious to see if any become domesticated/if they have a sorta normal life with running this empire with her. Story gets 4/5 stars from me!

Narration was done well, thought the female narrator did a great job flipping between accents and they were both believable. I also thought the male narrator did a great job with the 7 main characters and distinguished them enough you could figure out some mannerism/tell. Solid performances from them both, I already had one on my approved listen list and will be checking the other out to see if I have more in my library to listen to them more.

A twisted and dark retelling of Snow White the Seven Dwarfs and her evil stepmother. 🍎

🛑⚠️See authors trigger warnings before you read this book ⚠️🛑

Adelaide is the daughter and heir of Vladimir Romanov don of the Romanov Bratva. She has a stepmother name Ravanna that could give lucifer a run for his money. She literally turned into evil incarnate after the "death" of her husband. She made it a mission to inflict as much pain and suffering on Adelaide as she could without actually killing her in quest to extract information on The Guild and the location of the will. With that information she wants to gain all the money and power that comes with the Romanov name even killing everyone that gets in her way.
Adelaide buried her beloved father at seventeen only to be immediately imprisoned by her stepmother who took great pleasure in inflicting unimaginable emotional, mental and physical pain and torture. As she sits in her cell she remembers some of the things her father taught her, one of them was "sometimes you have to go through hell and back before you get everything that was meant for you" and two the family motto: "We don’t forgive and we don’t forget. We just bide our time until we destroy you." That helped her survive so one day she could seek her revenge. Then after more than a year of being brutalized she escapes with the help of an unexpected ally. She flees to a town in America called Ravenwood where for almost a year she starts to feel somewhat normal even if it's with a new name. She gets stronger and learns how to fight even manages to have a few friends but all that comes crashing down when a simple photo of her get put on social media. Once again she is on the run but now her stepmother surely knows where she's been. That's when the assassins called the scorpions are hired to join the party. No one knows there are seven that make up that group. Carter, Maxcen, Silas, Blake, Daemon, Cage and Declan each brutal killers and damaged by life.
Once they find her things become interesting. The know there is more to her story and they plan on finding out what. Especially after they discover a few unexpected things about her on the way. When they find her they all feel a desire to own her, use her in all sorts of devious, dark sexual ways to get the information they desire. Will the connection save her long enough to survive till her tweny first birthday so she claim her birthright? Will she ever live long enough to get her revenge?
This is a dark and twisted retelling of Snow White but with seven assassins, a most definite evil stepmother and a bravta princess. It's told from multiple POV's and at times there is a lot going on that can be confusing if not paying attention.
This story contains MM, MF, MMMF, and combinations of MMFMMMMM, rape, incest, torture, murder, humilation and violence in multiple ways.
