Tales of a Travel Girl #2
Maylie's Luck of the Irish
Will fear and unhappiness sink Maylie’s trip to Ireland?
After nearly getting sent home for her story of revenge against her twin brother, Maylie is determined to not put a toe out of line.
When her worst fear surfaces and results in a horrible mess, her bad mood spirals further downhill as the expected vibrant green countryside ends up only gray, rainy, and dull. Between the weather and her frown, is there anything to raise Maylie’s spirits?
Enter a mysterious old man, new friends, her next story, and the musical heart of the Emerald Isle - which just might be enough magic to bring Maylie back her smile, overcome her fear, and offer some fun along the way.

This is the 2nd book in the series, & this is just as charming, wholesome, heartwarming, & fun as the 1st. The MC wants to be a writer, so you go on this writing journey throughout the books with her. At the same time, you’re seeing Europe with her & some of her family on this trip they are on. It is such a fun adventure. Each book so far has also had some amazing messages. A message/lesson in this 1, is not to let fear control you or your life. Don’t let it stop you from living your life..don’t miss out on things. Maylie has a very good imagination lol sometimes it doesn’t always work in her favor, but for the most part it’s an amazing thing for her. These include some real places & so you learn a lot as well-I did! And I love that. In the back of the book there’s info on the childrens classic book mentioned in the story(in this 1 it’s a C.S. Lewis book), discussion questions, information on setting-so info & even pics about real places that are mentioned in the book, discussion guide, preview of next book, author q & a, & author info & illustrator info! Highly recommend! These would be fun read aloud books at bedtime in my opinion as well! Another amazing cover by Monica Bruenjes too!💜

I really enjoyed Maylie's second travel adventure in Ireland. My family and I moved to Ireland a few years ago, making this book even a little more special. As a family in Dublin, we enjoyed following Maylie through the city, noting the places we have been and seen. Most of the book takes place in Blarney, which is not somewhere we have traveled yet, but this book has definitely made us put Blarney on our travel lists. I enjoyed seeing Ireland through Maylie's eyes and I love that young readers can travel the world without having to leave home.
Not only does Maylie get to experience Europe, but she learns more about herself while building confidence as a young writer. This book is uplifting, encouraging, and hopefully instills a sense of adventure and travel into the younger audience. Maylie also brings the reality of self-doubt to light as she struggles, feeling her writing may never be good enough. Through the help of new friends and new experiences, Maylie learns to believe in herself, just as her family believes in her.
Great book for the middle-grade reader looking for a little adventure.

Maylie’s Luck of the Irish is such a cute story full of lessons. Overcoming fear is a hard lesson to learn as a child and as an adult. I highly recommend this story to all readers age 8-12.
On Maylie’s trip to Ireland she is fearful that her misbehavior or her brother Camden’s will send them home early. She’s determined not to step out of line.
She is pushed to her limit when the Irish rain won’t let up and sends her into a bad mood. Being in close quarters with Camden doesn’t help the situation.
Will new friends and the music of Ireland raise her spirits? Get a copy of the second story in the Maylie series and join her on a journey to Ireland. It's such a great way to travel!

* Middle grade realistic fiction for grades 3-6
* For fans of the Middle School series by James Patterson, The Tapper Twins series by Geoff Rodkey, and the Melanie Martin series by Carol Weston
* "Maylie’s Luck of the Irish" is the second book in the Tales of a Travel Girl series, which follows 10-year-old Maylie Montes on an inspirational trip across Europe filled with the shenanigans of her zany family and the mishaps of her overactive imagination.
* Each novel in the series promotes elements of creative writing, world geography, and classic literature, including different companion reads of classic children’s books.
* Through the Tales of a Travel Girl series, I want kids to have a chance to travel the world through fiction and along the way learn a bit. I’ve tapped into my own first-hand experiences from traveling to over a dozen countries and filtered them through Maylie’s eyes. I also wanted to write a book that could be enjoyed by kids and grown-ups alike. A fun bedtime read!

I love books that have a through line and fun characters. This trip to Europe and Maylie and her family are just that. It’s like a play and I love it. This book is an excellent read for middle years kids, but as an adult who loves to travel and needs a break from non fiction I’m a huge fan. I loved seeing Maylie in Ireland. I’ve spent time there and can’t wait to go back. The remembering what I saw was a lot of fun. I also loved that like me she fell in love with trad music like i have. I’m especially a fan of Molly Malone who in good Irish fashion is referred to by Dubliners as the floozy in the jacuzzi. Tarpley’s characters are real and relatable and I can’t wait to see them go to Scotland.

Tales of a Travel Girl is a great way for middle grade readers to experience the adventure of foreign destinations, as well as prove that the "adult" work of Writing Books is NOT just for adults! I enjoyed this second installment of Maylie's adventures, in particular because IRELAND. (#cantwaittogobackthereoneday) Special thanks to the author for providing me with access to an ebook version of her Maylie's second story. :)

Thank you to the author for providing me with an eARC of this book!
I really enjoyed following Maylie on her second adventure in Ireland! I love that she faced some of her fears and that we got to see how she handled her anxiety and panic attacks with the help of her family. I still really love that Maylie is a little writer and thought her story was a lovely way to tie the book together. Throughout there are also references to The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe which made me very happy as I adore the Narnia books. A great read for young children and it includes facts about the places described in the book and thoughtful discussion questions.

As an adult reading a children's boo, I opened my mind to the possiblity of learning something new. What an incredible journey the author ivites the reader to travel. I'm instantly a part of the adventure--this time to Ireland. I'm learning, being encouraged, and definitely entertained. I'm ready to board the plane for Scotland soon.
Thanks, Morgan, for the travel bug...

After reading this book, I feel like I've been on a trip to Ireland! I love the landmarks and the added tidbits of culture and history. The characters' development continues as Maylie and her brother, Camden, learn that they can get along together. If you want adventure and fun, this book is great.
