Overcoming darkness

A great story. Sophie takes the first step to change the relationship with Gabe from boss to lover, and maybe more. This step sets in motion tension and self reflection.

Sophie has a history of pain and abuse, yet she stands strong in her conviction of what she wants and needs. It is Gabe that struggles with both giving himself permission to have Sophie, but also his skewed view of his own desires.

Add in some suspense and you have a base for a good story. I did feel that some of the plot elements gave the story a choppy feel, lurching from one event/ tension to another. Not enough to impact my enjoyment but enough for a little predictability to creep in.

Sophia and Gabe are the perfect match. She's sneaky, taunting and manipulative, and he's jealous, hyper-possessive and controlling (in all aspects of her life not just in the bedroom ... in other books, men like Gabe are the villains that the heroine is fleeing). No one seems to respect anyone's personal rights as long as their own hedonistic desires are satisfied. The book focuses solely on their relationship and business aspects of Gabe's fetish club (Sophia is an event planner who works for him.) A random sub-plot involving a psycho ex-husband is thrown in around 3/4 of the way through the book. It is, however, well written and edited (as far as grammar and spelling go).

I WOULD SLAY DRAGONS FOR YOU, LOVE

What a great start to a new series, and this is a spinoff from The Manor series, where we meet Gabriel Ryan at his BDSM club, The Eros Pit in Denver, Colorado. He hired Sophia Eaton as his event coordinator, and she has done wonders with the turnout and profits. She will have the club hosting themed singles nights once a month, where it will be by the luck of the draw for both subs and Doms to get to know each other and scene together. She is also coordinating the upcoming collaring and wedding of Prue to Cam and Max (The Manor series) at the club.

The Ryan family has many enterprising businesses, and they also have a rule of never getting involved with employees. A costly incident from the past still haunts them. No matter how much Gabe is impressed or attracted to Sophia, she is entirely off-limits.

When the first masquerade single night at the club happens, Sophia will be dressed and disguised with a mask all evening—but the following day brings everything crashing down. Now Gabe is angry, she is shattered, and they still must work together. Not everyone believes he is fair and several are onboard to upset the cart.

“He doesn’t want to be dipping his wick in the company ink.” “Not to worry, Operation Gabe Down commences now!”

“Who cares if she works for you? When it’s the right person, none of that stuff matters.”

“You’re my submissive, which means that you submit your will to me.” “They would never have a conventional Dom and sub relationship. She had far too much fire in her not to mouth off or fight for her way and independence. But life would never be dull or boring.”

The story keeps the pages turning as Master Gabe succumbs to Sophia and decides to change his view on being with an employee—especially when she is willing to quit and walk away from Eros. Why is it that everyone around them can see the chemistry, attraction and know they are perfect for each other, but he fights it? When he gives in, he will find his ideal match, someone who can handle his darkness and soothe his savage beast.

“I want to collar you, something I’ve never done with any sub before you. You’re it for me, Sophia. Word of warning, love, you’ve fallen for a demanding Dom.”

“He was right there with her, steady and strong, her lighthouse in the storm, her true north.”

Trouble is coming, and Gabe is thinking it best not to tell Sophia backfires on him. It is a matter of life and death, and the ordeal is a test for both of them. I cried reading this one chapter and imagining the terror that each of them faced during uncertainty—needing them to be ok.

“She was alive. It was more than she’d thought she would be given, and she didn’t intend to waste it.”

“I was waiting for you. My love, my soulmate.”

I can’t wait to see where this series will go. I loved the characters, the angst, the chemistry, mystery, suspense, danger, and passion. I’ve marked my calendar for the next book.

Midnight Masquerade is the first book in the Dungeon Singles Night series, but there are also connections to The Manor series. Gabriel has one major rule - no sleeping with his employees, but Sophia, his event coordinator, makes him want to break all the rules. But when their fates align, with a little bit of help, will their passionate connection cause Gabe to reconsider everything and fight for what’s his, or will he push her away, along with hopes for a future together?

Wow, I really loved this book! There was something special about the connection between Sophia and Gabriel that I couldn’t and did not want to resist while reading, and I loved that there was the perfect blend of sweet and steam with some danger elements thrown in here and there. I really loved how relationship focused this book was, though, and how you cheer for Sophia and Gabe from the very beginning! Sophia was bold and stood up for herself, her desires, and for what she knew to be right, and I loved that she wasn’t afraid to put her boss and Dom in his place when needed. But I also cherished her submissive side, her vulnerabilities, and her insecurities. Gabe was so stubborn, held a bit of a darker side, prided himself on all of his control, but my favorite was when he let go and just was all pure dominant alpha male with Sophia! I loved his protective nature of everything that’s his and I loved his support of Sophia and believing in her. Their interactions were steamy and decadent and I loved their connection! There is a bit of danger in this book, a suspense element that will leave you on the edge of your seat, and I loved all of the twists and turns that this couple needed to face to find their happiness! I really enjoyed this book and already look forward to more from this series!

'Midnight Masquerade' is Anya Summers' first book in her new series "Dungeon Singles Night" which is a spinoff of her "Manor" series. It's not necessary to read one to enjoy the other but you'll miss all the deliciousness she gave us in the "Manor". In this storyline we meet Gabriel, who with his brothers, own several businesses which includes the Eros Pit, a BDSM club. They instituted a rule to never date an employee. They've been there, done that, hence the rule. Sophia escaped a situation where her husband, along with someone close to her, mentally and physically abused her until she almost died. That's how she wound up being hired as the events coordinator at Eros Pit. The interactions between these two, the palpable chemistry, Gabe's dominant, protective personality that holds a dark side along with Sophia's bold personality that allows her to standup for herself and what she believes in even though she is a submissive with her own vulnerabilities and insecurities. There's a bit of danger, twists and turns with the air of suspense, and at one point I had a knot in my throat and tears in my eyes. It's a great representation of what to expect from the remainder of the series.

Great start to a new series! Sophia trades places with another submissive and ends up in her boss’s bed. Gabriel has a firm rule of never sleeping with his employees but both Sophia and Gabriel know that one night will not be enough between them. What will happen when Sophia’s past finds it way into the club? Fast-paced read with loads of drama, steam and emotion. Great characters with lots of depth. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it!

There are things I loved about this story and a couple of things that irritated me. I adored Sophia’s feistiness and her backbone of steel. She was fully prepared to tell Gabe he was being a jerk when he was. I loved the chemistry and connection between these characters. I’m not surprised everyone around them could tell what they were feeling. Gabe left me scratching my head. He plays the double-standard card a couple of times, which Sophia rightly calls him on. I thought at least one of their punishment scenes was unwarranted, as it was for things that I’d believed they had gotten over. And I wasn’t a fan of him keeping vital information from her in the name of protecting her since it actually put her in more danger. But otherwise, I thought he was perfectly suited as Sophia’s partner. Their needs and desires dovetailed together, and their two iron wills pushed them both to be better. I am charmed by the supporting cast and I can’t wait to read more about them.

This was good! Good writing, plotting, drama, and no egregious BDSM no-nos (although a stunning lack of aftercare on the page) , except one:
It's always an odd fictional fantasy about BDSM clubs in books, which I find interesting. Not from the activity, but for one glaring reason: serving alcohol. Dungeons in 3 states I've been in are dry. Cons are dry. Booze and kink don't mix; you cannot consent if you're impaired. Thus the fantasy trope. Aw well. It happens in almost every book surrounding a kink club 🤷‍♀️

PS I'm reading the next book in the series and the author is still referring to anal play as the "naughty back door". 🤣 wtf? What? Just say asshole FFS Crops & whips are fine, but anal & asshole is too much?? JFC

As always, this author knows how to bring on the heat. I liked the sassy interactions between Gabe and Sophie before their hookup. However, after their sexual encounter, I felt the actions of both individuals a little immature. It seemed the neither were willing to see the other’s point of view regarding the changed dynamic. Gabe kept hinting at his darker leanings, however, these sinister traits were not revealed. I loved meeting all the secondary characters. I also enjoyed the suspense aspect, although Sophie’s recovery at the end was surprisingly quick.

Anya Summers introduces a new series, Dungeon Singles Night. In this first book, we meet Sophia and Gabriel. Sophia, an event planner, moved away in order to escape the place where her husband and someone else close to her violently beat her, mentally and emotionally abused her and almost killed her. Gabriel is the owner of the Eros Pit, a BDSM club. He, along with his brothers, own many businesses and have vowed to never date anyone who works with them. Sophia is hired as the events coordinator for the club. Over the weeks and months, she finds herself not only attracted to Gabriel, but falling in love with him. During one of the special theme nights, a luck of the draw match up of Dom to Sub, Sophia decides to give in to her desire. Wearing a mask, she and Gabriel spend a night satisfying every desire. Gabriel is not happy when he realizes who he spent the night with as it breaks the family rule. Will Gabriel and Sophia go back to business only or will they give in to their desires and pursue what could be? Will Sophia's new life be destroyed by her past? Will Gabriel realize the past doesn't have to dominate the present and the future? Great secondary characters. Good start to a new series!

This was a simply captivating read and I loved the characters and plot
This was a wonderful read and I could not recommend this read enough, the characters and the plot were so well written and it held my attention from start to finish and am sure that others will enjoy it just as much.
Gabriel Ryan has very dark tastes and he is very strict about his not sleeping with any of his employees and this is a rule that he diligently adheres too. However. it soon becomes apparent that the woman he spent the night with and who has now gotten under his skill is very much a current employee and he is not overly pleased about it.
He is afraid that his very dark and very depraved desires could spoil the woman she is but it may just be the case that in fact she is going to surprise him and this being the case is not sure exactly what he is going to do.
However, when a danger from her past suddenly turns up out of nowhere it is necessary that he steps in and saves her and now all bets are off!!
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

A May Day Masquerade Ball like no other

Midnight Masquerade is the first book in the Dungeon Singles Night series and if the rest of the books are like this one then sign me up right now. This story is about Gabriel Ryan and Sophia Eaton. When Sophia moved to Denver to start her life over she is hired as Gabe's assistant and boy does he have an interesting company. He owns and run the Eternal Eros nightclub but also The Eros Pit, a BDSM member club which is below the nightclub. Gabe was a Dom and Sophia was a sub, but there was to be no play between them as that was out of the question, no employer and employee fraternization allowed. That goes off the tracks one night during a Masquerade Ball at the Eros Pit with some very unintended consequences.

This story has it all....drama, suspense, danger, sweetness, romance, family, friends, mystery and of course some amazingly hot and steamy sexy BDSM. The story is well written and has a cohesive story-line and well developed characters. I really loved this first book in the series and am looking forward to reading the next when it is available.

Sophia has been hired as an event planner at the Eros clubs. There is Eternal Eros, which is for people who want to dabble in the lifestyle. There is also the Eros Pit, which is for people who live and breathe the BDSM lifestyle daily. She comes up with the idea of themed dungeon nights and they are a hit. But as she works with her boss, Gabe, she falls in love with him. She decides to try to get past his 'no dating employees. rule by setting herself as his submissive during a masquerade night. Gabe is not amused. But, Sophia is stubborn and works on him until he finally gives in. It is fascinating to read about how , even though submissive, Sophia stands her ground for what she wants. Once they are together, Sophia tells him about her previous marriage and how everything had gone wrong. But when Gabe finds out that her ex has escaped from prison, he does everything he can to keep her safe, except tell Sophia that she is danger! Men! They end up having their HEA and we get sneak previews of the next two books.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Sophia Eaton and Gabriel "Gabe" Daniel Ryan. When Sophia is hired at Eternal Eros as an event coordinator she can't be more excited or pleased. The only problem she has is that she is attracted to her boss and she knows she shouldn't but she can't stop thinking of being with him. So after working with him for months she finds a way to be with him she just didn't know how badly it would blow up in her face. Gabe has only a few rules in his life and the first one is he does not sleep with his employees. Gabe is part of a family run group of business and when he realizes he has slept with his event planner he goes into tailspin mode. Telling his brother's was hard but not as hard as staying away from Sophia is. Can these two find a HEA or will who they are to one another and others make that impossible?

Wowza what a story from this author. This author always gives us characters that we don't want to let go of and this story is no different. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

If book 1 is any indication how the rest of this series is going to be then we all have something to look forward to!! This new series is a spinoff of Anya’s Manor series which was also really good. Gabe is a Dom with an attraction to his even planner Sophia but employees are off limits. She’s head over heels for Gabe and makes sure they end up together for a steamy night at a masquerade party. These two together.... WOW!! She’s the submissive he’s been looking for even if he won’t admit it. She’s the calm to his beast and everything he needs to have his heart be complete. She’s a perfect blend of submissive and feisty. She won’t put up with anything in the office and puts him in his pose quite often, but at home in their bed she’s everything he needs in a sub. Their perfect bubble is popped when her abusive ex husband comes for her. This book is really good! I loved the change in Gabe when they get together and how loving he is for Sophia. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

Holy cannoli, I don’t normally go for office romance stories since they are usually repatriation over and over again. But I took a change with this story since the characters are mature and experience in life and not some older man seeking a young coochie to try out. I can’t wait to read the others in this series since we already had a taste of the Ryan brothers and other Dom friends in this one and see if they can find their One that nails down their dic…minds.

Will he cross the No pucking his employee rule? From day one Sophia has turn Gabe’s head but kept his dark list in check so he would never violate that one rule, well that was until the masquerade ball in his BDSM club and in his private room…
Sophia fell hard for her boss when he made her breakfast on her first day on the job but the stubborn man never saw her the saw her Submissive in her or when she’s around him. After her past she protective of herself but she will finally push her boss’s buttons to get what her Sub side needs, Dark lust with pain.

I absolutely loved this book. At first I thought I knew what was going to happen but Ms. Summers did not disappoint it was so much more. Sophia was a smart, intelligent and super strong woman who is brilliant at her job. Gabe is certainly smart business wise but not when it comes to his love life. Fortunately, he is the only one that thinks it is a problem and Ryker is only too happy to show him the error of his beliefs. The sex is out of this world and you may need a fan to keep you cool enough to keep reading because once you start you will not be able to put this book down. There is a not so pleasant aspect in the form of Sophia’s evil ex husband but there is a good outcome. All through the story, Ms. Summers has woven hints about future books with the characters in this story. It is well done even if I want to find out now. A very enjoyable read that I could not stop reading until I finished.

This is a terrific story. It is a love story – it is very sensual – there is some mild BDSM – and it concludes with a mystery and some violence before the HEA. Sophia is an event planner who was badly abused and injured in a former marriage by her ex-husband who is in prison for what he did to her. Gabe is a member of a wealthy family, and operates a night club and BDSM club for the family. She goes to work for Gabe as an event planner, and does a terrific job – and starts by lusting after him, and later the lust turns to love. It takes time for him to realize what she represents to him, and the story of how their relationship develops has various twists and turns, including problems with the ex, who escapes from jail. Both Gabe and Sophia were likable, intelligent characters – as were the rest of the supporting cast in the story including Gabe’s many brothers and Sophia’s friends. She's a sub. He's quite obviously a dom. Gabe owns Eros, and Sophia is his newest employee, a whip-smart event coordinator who's taking his club's popularity and finances to new heights. They have a special connection, but he has rules, making her off-limits. Lucky for him, she's not afraid to break them. This is a wonderful spinoff from The Manor series, where we were introduced to Gabe and his brothers, and I'm glad to see the author write a series around these sexy men. Her past, and the scars she lives with, remind her every day of the abuse and violence she suffered at the hands of her ex-husband. This is a very sensual story, with some action and suspense, a good bit of hot sex, and a quite enjoyable story as we watch Gabe fall and break his rules. I can't wait to see what's next...

Sophia Eaton moves to Denver to start her life over, and gets hired as Eros Clubs' Event Coordinator. Her first day on the job, her new boss, Gabe Ryan, cooks her breakfast, and she falls in love with him. Sparks fly between them, but until she finally makes the first move, infuriating him in the process, as he has a no fraternization policy.
As their love affair comes into the open, her old life collides with the present. Will Gabe make it in time? Will they be over just as it's getting started? It will take everything he's got to save her.
The story really is fantastic. Gabe was introduced in The Manor Series, but really comes to life here. I will be re-reading this, and anxiously awaiting the next two books in this series. This is a six star book in a five star world.

Gabe is the owner of Eternal Eros, and content with how he runs his business and the string of women waiting for his attention, but the one person who peaks his innermost beast is the one woman who is off limits. That all changes after a masquerade ball where he finds done woman that tames the beast. Unfortunately lines have been crossed and he may not want to go back. Sophia is attracted to Gabe but he won't look past her being his employee so one night as a mystery woman puts her in his capable hands and opens the door. The story is emotional, intense and scary when Sophia's past catches up with her. I seriously can't wait for more.

Loved, loved this book. Gabe is the owner of a BDSM club, Eternal Eros in Denver and Sophia is making a new start in Colorado...far away from where she grew up. She is starting at Eros as the new event coordinator. She is attracted to and falling for Gabe, but he has an absolute rule of no sleeping with the employees. When she sets up a new singles event, pairing Dom's with subs by lottery, she finagles Gabe into participating. When he finds out....after the fact, Gabe is furious about Sophia's deception. When their pasts come back into the present, they each realize tomorrow is never guaranteed.
Loved the story...it was sweet, sensuous, hot...made me cry a bit at the end. Great read! I voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved Sophia who is an intelligent and sassy woman who knows what she wants and when she interviewed with Gabe, she knew she wanted him. The feeling was mutual but he has a rule not to date employees. Events happen that he was not prepared for and finally he admits his feelings for Sophia. Danger from Sophia’s past finally catches up with her which stresses Gabe to the max. I loved this story because it has two very strong H/h characters who know what they want but Gabe holds back. It was fun to read how Sophia broke down his barriers to find the love they have both always wanted. It is well written and entertaining, i would highly recommend this book which is a great start to new series.

Dungeon Singles Night, what an exciting concept! This Story has it all. We get a pair of strong characters with a irresistable draw to each other but one is stubborn in his beliefs and rules while the other is just plain good at what she wants and how to get it. Sophia is the new event coordinator for Gabriel's club and she's just very talented at what she does as she proves how strong she is against some of Gabriel's more restrictive rules. Sophia has faced much worse than Gabriel can dole out and proves to be more than even Gabriel could have hoped for. The sex is great, the connection is irresistible, the verbal sparring is great and yet, there is danger lurking in the background. I loved this couple and looking forward to more of the Dungeon Singles Night stories

Wow, what a great start to this new series, Dungeon Singles Night. Gabe Ryan is the owner of the BDSM club, The Eros Pit in Denver, CO. Sophia Eaton moves to Denver for a new start far from her tragic previous life. Gabe hires her as his assistant and she quickly becomes an event planner for the club. After dancing around each other for nearly a year, Sophia decides to make her move. I loved the push and pull, the steam, and their relationship with all it's challenges. This book has all that and twists, turns, and drama. This book hangs on from start to finish. I love the Ryan brothers dynamic and can't wait for more from them. Great series opener

Our heroine just has to have a taste of the forbidden, but now she finds she likes it too much. Our hero feels the same, but can they make it work?

This is an erotic romance with elements of BDSM and a bit of the taboo. The story is well written and easy to read with excellent characters that have a lot of depth to them. The action starts early and builds from there. The characters have excellent chemistry, but they also have a big hurtle to overcome. While they try to figure this out, we get a nice bit of steam as a bonus. Overall, it was very enjoyable and I look forward to more from this author.

Highly recommended.

Some good, some not so good.

Triggers- kidnapping and physical abuse.
Pros- I liked sassy, smart, strong, creative Sofia.
Liked the secondary characters.
The suspense kept me engaged.

Cons- Gabe was an emotional, immature, so-so Dom. His darkness wasn't very dark. He was better by the end, but he used the whole "I won't tell her important, dangerous information that she might need to keep herself safe" trope. Not okay.
Didn't like the way the brothers treated their adult sister like a child so we didn't get to meet her.
And the oldest brothers aren't the head of the company conglomerate which was odd.
And there seemed to be previous couples and stories before this one.

I'll read more if the price is right.

Sophia was starting over with her new job and her boss. She started loving him right away. She planned a night with him thinking he knew it was her. Gage was really upset over it because of his rules about dating employees. But he didn't like when she was with another man. He threw his rules out the window for her. They began a relationship and it grew stronger. Her ex came after her and kidnapped her. Gage was there when the SWAT team rescued her. In the end Gage asked Sophia to marry him and she excepted.
