"Many have preached prosperity, many can quote many scriptures on it, but very few experience it. Iniquity is one of the greatest reasons why it is so...When sin goes, lack dies! Giving will never be equal to prosperity until the foundation is in place. You can give from now until you die and not see any returns!...Sin is a destroyer, not a friend. Let's fight it with all our being! There is a future in righteousness. Job became the greatest because he lived the purest life in the land." (David Oyedeop, Understanding Financial Prosperity)

This book covers many aspects of understanding financial prosperity. Some I had never heard before! And some very convicting. Why do some people prosper and some do not? This book gives us insight into this question. And this book isn't just what the world deems as prosperity either (outwardly)!

This book instructs you that as a child of God, you have access to the covenant of prosperity. However, there are certain actions you must take to be connected to this covenant. And remember, this is not the prosperity of the world. This is prosperity according to the Word of God. Prosperity that causes you to be blessed to be a blessing. Prosperity without sorrow (See Proverbs 10:22). Again, prosperity not according to the world, but according to the Word of God. The way God defines prosperity. Prosperity of the soul first, and once that is established, then prosperity in other areas of your life. Often, in the world it is the other way around. Prosperity is sought outwardly, and the internal is neglected. Jesus said it well when He said, For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? (Mark 8:36).

This book begins by discussing the covenant dimension of prosperity, then goes into the mother of poverty (sin), how we have been redeemed from the curse of sin through the finished work of Christ on the cross; that He became poor, so that we may become rich (See 2 Corinthians 8:9). He then gets into other teaching aspects of prosperity including: Why God prospers (blessed to be a blessing), how the seed of the Word of God is the foundation for biblical prosperity, working (yes, work!), the seven pillars of prosperity, being thankful, waiting....

I especially liked Chapter 27 entitled Make a Choice. This chapter begins by discussing "change." He talks about how Judas heard Jesus as much as the other disciples; however, it did not produce a change in him-he refused to change. He says, "Judas heard the most direct message in the world (from the Word Himself), but he didn't give room for a change. He stayed on in chains, until he arrived in hell! That won't be your case, in Jesus' name!

Change is a choice! What information does is provide opportunity for a change. But your response to the information, is what determines your choice for either change or chains." In my own words, "When you are resistant to change, you will remain in chains."

This book will renew your mind to God's way of understanding prosperity by understanding God's thoughts through the Word of God. This book is foundational to understanding financial prosperity in my opinion.

Excellent teaching about prosperity. Real prosperity is much more than money. “God is not looking for your money, He’s looking for your heart.”
