Let's Make Cake! (Bobo and Pup-Pup):

Bobo and Pup-Pup #2

by Vikram Madan, Nicola Slater (Illustrator)

A hilarious new series about best friends Bobo and Pup-Pup--a monkey and a dog with very different personalities. This graphic chapter book and it's companion, We Love Bubbles! , are perfect for fans of Elephant & Piggie and the Narwhal & Jelly books.

Bobo and Pup-Pup are making a cake! Pup-Pup reads the ingredients and Bobo gathers them. Sugar and butter, no problem! Bobo brings salt and lemons. But wait, those are not on the ingredient list! Bobo nabs a lot of things that are not in the recipe. Well, it's an experiment! It will still taste great...won't it? Even if the result isn't perfect, Bobo and Pup-Pup are happy to spend time together. Doing things with your best friend is always fun!

This hilarious and relatable graphic chapter book will have kids ages 5-8 laughing out loud while gaining confidence in reading. Readers will be eager to devour the companion book in the series, We Love Bubbles! Graphic chapter books are also a great step on the way to graphic novels and longer chapter books.

Launching with two volumes for this series of brash, bright, colourful and speedy reads, this one has the monkey and dog pair of the title witnessing a cake-baking mouse. But when they try their culinary skills out together, what a disaster. This book isn't one of those, mind – far from it, for the intended readers will really like this and wish for more. Unlike our heroes in regard to what they cook up...

Cute book for young kids and beginning readers. Kids will love this as a read aloud or reading themselves.

Bobo and Pup-pup want to make a cake, so they gather all the ingredients. Or, at least, things that look like ingredients. That should work, right?

This is a funny tale of two friends who learn that even making mistakes is fun when they do it together. One small part of the story in inferred just through the illustration, and I like that skill as well.

[Rose Rosetree]

Being together with somebody is the ultimate purpose of life. Being together with somebody, anybody.

At least, that's the not-too-subtle message in this book. For instance, from the final chapter:

Quoting Bobo: "We had the best time TOGETHER."

FIVE STARS for this book, in honor of people who share this value with the author, Vikram Madan.

Another entry into the funny easy chapter book/graphic novel category. Bobo and Pup-Pup aren’t the best at making cake, but they are great at having fun with friends. Compared to Elephant and Piggie and Narwhal and Jelly, not quite up to those two series.

Little one LOVED this book! AH! Got super excited, even said, "TADAA!" when Bo Bo did. Found this randomly on a chair in the children's section of the library and it came home with us. Been read multiple times since. :)

A happy little book - great fun, great message, great illustrations!

[Thomas Bell]

It was okay. At least they had fun making it. I think kids would have a lot of fun reading along, and the artwork does a good job helping tell the story.

Similar to Piggy and Gerald these books are beginner chapter books/graphic novels.

8 year olds review -
Very cute.
Love the story.
Like how it has text bubbles like a comic book.
And its not a boring lesson.

Bobo and Pup-Pup are back for a second adventure. They attempt to bake a cake. They don't have the proper tools or ingredients. I didn't really like this one.
