Imaginative, well organized, some funny references to pop culture characters hidden as Easter Eggs and of course enough random encounters with layers of conscious seasoning (twists) I couldn't get enough!

I was surprised how long it took me to read this book as each encounter forces you to reorient your brain and visualize and wrap your mind around these multi faceted and multi layered (twists) but then again maybe I'm out of practice.

There you go. My writing is may be clunky and slightly repetitive but I wanted to make my point and then reinforce it. And some genuine LOL moments when discovering character references to pop culture characters.

A couple of my favorite encounters might be the group of gnomes that take up residence in an abandoned building in the city and start building war machines and take it over! Dwarves sunning themselves inside a mountain by a lava flow, and of course a giant bear in the forest or mountain that wears a hat and says "Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires!"

Volume 2 please!

This is a fun book of prompts for any fantasy tabletop game. They're split up by setting, so if the party is in a village you'd flip to the village chapter and roll percentile dice. The prompts range from serious to goofy and often are open to both violent and non-violent approaches. Some are based around classic fairy tales or movies like Home Alone.

The "Game Master Tools" section has tables for individual elements like NPC motivations and locations. I wish it had more tables here, as it's impossible to create an encounter using only the tables provided.

Minor quibble: This book was written by multiple people and feels like it. Some prompts reference "the players", others reference "you", and others don't mention the players at all.

This had some cool ideas in it. It was hard to read it straight-across like you would a regular book; I'd think it would be better to roll dice and see what it lands on to create a character/situation. Nonetheless an interesting read that helped me move through some burnout.
