When Owen gets to Hathaway House he is all in and in better shape than most when they arrive, yet he over does it and ends up meeting Penny and they hit it off. Penny runs charities and helps out the Hathaway House when needed along with several other causes with the money she invests from her family. Her parents are over protective and can’t relate to her philanthropy ways, so when she expresses interest in Owen, her parents try to intervene….can the two get over the hurdles her parents throw their way.
A good sweet clean romance with great characters and a budding love. I liked the no drama between the two and how Owen stands up for himself. I also liked how Penny finally gets through to her parents and how it all ends.

Loved this one. If I had to describe in one word - heart warming ...well technically two. Even with the inbred stubbornness of Seals, Owen had a calmness, a warmth. Penny had charisma, and quick come backs. Battling their own struggles, physical and emotional it was a joy to watch them deal as adults, to share thoughts and opinions, to reach out and connect. Penny has a bigger heart than me, even if I understood, I am not mature enough, or intelligent enough to handle her dad the way she she did.
This was a wonderful read snuggled in my chair on a cold fall day. Thank you for the arc. I freely share my thoughts and opinions.

This is the fifteenth book in the brilliant "Hathaway House" series, they are the type of book that make you want to slip into your dressing gown and comfy slippers and sit by the fireside to read.
When Owen Powel received a message from his old SEAL buddy, Nash, he didn't realize how much his life was about to change. Owen had serious leg and back injuries from being to close to an exploding landmine, some of his buddies hadn't been so lucky. Unbeknown to Owen, Nash had put his name on the waiting list for Hathaway House rehabilitation centre and he was about to be transferred.
Hathaway House was set up by Dani Hathaway and her father the Major, it was for the rehabilitation of military personnel and set out to treat its patients holistically, it employed just the right people to make this happen. Over the course of reading these books the staff at Hathaway House seem like friends, I feel as though I know each one of them.
Owen was at a crossroads in his life, he had decisions to make as to what he was going to do now that the navy wasn't an option. When Penny Abigail entered his life he was attracted to her straight away, they just clicked. Penny looked frail but determined, she was the daughter of a multi millionaire but unlike the rest of her family she devoted her life to her charities, Hathaway House being one of them.
When Penny's overprotective father got wind of a blossoming romance he was determined to put a stop to it, no gold digging, broken navy dropout was having his daughter.....Penny and Owen had other ideas, could they win her father round ?
Dale Meyer has written yet another heart warming book and I look forward to reading Percy's story.

Fantastic!

This story doesn’t delve into Owen’s physical therapy difficulties where one would understand his struggles with his handicaps and injuries as well as his pain and suffering. It does detail his mental ideas and thoughts regarding what he wants to do with his life, his emotional decision of how he feels about Penny, and how his decisions will impact their budding relationship.

I enjoyed the patient and slow journey both Owen and Penny have with getting to know each other, all that is in their individual lives, and what each other needs and wants out of life. They are both very sensitive to the other’s pride and self-worth.

Penny was able to accomplish her financial and business degrees to the benefit of her passion for her favorite charities. I appreciate Penny’s ability to educate herself on the business aspect behind her charities and what kind of assistance they need that she can provide. She isn’t just throwing a little money into a donation box to make herself look good. She means to help make a difference in people’s lives as well as the animals she helps.

I was rooting for Penny regarding the issues with her parents. She deals with them with love yet isn’t afraid to speak her mind and stand up for herself. The money her parents give her for her charities comes with a price, but Penny deals with it. She has the grace to respect her parents for who they are, but doesn’t stand by quietly when Owen becomes the focus of her father’s disapproval. I appreciate Penny’s sensitivity when she resolvs her father’s feelings and the direction of his opinion.

Overall, this is a sweet and very encouraging story about overcoming adversity, the gift of giving and a new found love.

In the prologue to this book is the phone call Owen gets from his former roommate Nash. He's astonished that Nash had put him on the waiting list without his knowledge and now there's a bed available. He only has to finish the paperwork and he knows he has to go, the results he sees with Nash just prove that he can go further too.

Of course like so many other's he over does it on the first day, using crutches instead of the wheelchair to prove he's serious.

Penelope 'Penny' Abigail drops off a few animals at Stan's vet clinic on the lower level of Hathaway House before making her way upstairs to see Dani. Hathaway House and Stan's Clinic are just a couple of the many places that benefit from her financial trusts. With Dani busy she heads to the dining room for coffee, where Dennis talks her into a salad and fried chicken since she admits it's been a while since she ate. This is where she meets Owen.

Owen leaves Dani and Penny to navigate back to his room. Unfortunately he gets turned around and almost collapses. It's Penny who sees him as she's leaving and helps him get where he needs to be.

Shane is going to be his Physical Therapist and one of the things that had me laughing is the green shake, it seems many end up drinking that.

Penny and Owen have many meals together and I really loved the connection that slowly forms.

Now Penny's family is another thing altogether, trying to manipulate her into doing things she doesn't want to do.

There is so much growth for both Owen and Penny as a relationship begins to form.

I can't wait for the next book in this series!

This is another awe-inspiring book from Dale Mayer’s remarkable “Hathaway House” series. Usually this series totally focuses on the injured veteran and his recovery. However, in this book the veteran’s injury is completely overshadowed by the heroine’s situation.

Penny is a philanthropist who was born into a wealthy family. Unlike the rest of her greedy, money-hungry family, she does not spend her money on herself. Instead, she devotes her life, and her inheritance, to her “causes”, in spite of her family’s disapproval.

One of Penny’s major beneficiaries is the Hathaway House. As an important benefactor, and an educated social worker, Penny visits the house regularly. This is the way that she was able to meet Owen.

The major plot in this story involves Penny’s parents’ disapproval of Owen. They believe his injury will keep him from being a worthy husband because he will be unable work, or even take care of her. They also suspect he is a fortune hunter.

I found the arguments between Penny and her parents, particularly her mother, were impressive and thought-provoking. I was also fascinated by the way Owen handles the animosity between himself and her father.

This is a thought-provoking story that, throughout the book, reveals some information that will surprise the readers.

This story will be an emotional rollercoaster ride to healing and love.Owen was a Navy Seal til a attack while on patrol where he and his team were ambushed. Now since the injuries have ended his career as a Seal. He's fighting to get better but after multiple surgeries the docs say its as good as it can get. When his friend sends him a picture of himself an a beautiful woman. He can't believe how great his buddy looks. When his phone rings he tells Owen to send in the application for Hathaway house that they will get him as good as he can be just look at him to see its true. Owen is stubborn so he walks into Hathaway house on crutches after a really bad trip down to Hathaway house. He meets Dani an she tells him he has to learn to ask for help from time to time. That he'll put his recovery way behind if he continues to push his body too far.Penny donates slot of money to Hathaway house helping military men and women recover is one of the things she loves about Danish dream. She also gives money to the vet clinic at Hathaway house. When she meets Owen she's instantly drawn to him. She's alone so much because she hates that they keep trying to force her to work in the family business or marry someone with slot of money an become a trophy wife.there are so many twists and turns to this story you will be riveted until the very last page an leave you begging for more.

I really enjoyed this sensitive story of two different people struggling to find their way in both life and family. For Owen, badly injured he has struggled with his recovery until Nash tells him to get to Hathaway House, at first unsure if this is right for him, he makes friends with a few staff and Penny. Penny has struggled her whole life against being the odd one out in her family, money for her means helping others both human and animal. Sickness is something she's prone to which means her family are protective and controlling, until she meets Owen. Attraction and a keen sense of being on the same wavelength has them both determined to do the best they can to be together. Inspirational, friendly, great banter and wonderful characters make this a sink deep and get lost in reading book, it's a series that I've followed and it always lifts me up and makes me thankful. All taking place in a fabulous scenic setting. We didn't get much of the animals in this one which I did miss but I loved that despite this being a recuperation hospital there was still romance. Great job by the author and this as always left me wanting the next book. Started 25/10/21 Finished 26/10/21

Owen is a Navy SEAL recovering from a close call with a landmine. His friend Nash wants him to come to Hathaway House because he has had an amazing recovery there and wants the same for his friend. Owen walks into Hathway House with the use of crutches and a mindset to get better. There he meets Penny, Dani, and the General all on the first day. That's quite a feat. He and Penny start seeing a lot of each other and find they have a lot in common. Her family is very protective of her and her money. Owen and Penny will have to stand up to her father in order to get the happy ending they both want and deserve.

I love this series. Each story is new and fresh and full of hope amid the pain that is recovery. Penny is an amazing character, she is a philanthropist who uses her family's wealth to help others. She had a core strength about her and a heart of gold. Owen is a gentle soul with some things to work out before he feels he can be what Penny needs. This was a sweet love story and I can't wait for the next.

Owen by Dale Mayer
Hathaway House Series Book Fifteen
Owen Powell has finally made it to Hathaway House. After his friend Nash had told him to get an application in. Owen couldn’t believe his old VA roommate was looking so fit and with a beautiful woman beside him too, on the photo Nash sent.
Penelope “Penny” Abigail was the oddball in her family. Instead of spending their wealth on herself, she enjoyed playing the philanthropist and setting up charities to help other people and animals. One of her favorite projects was helping Hathaway House and the vet clinic connected to it.
Penny and Owen met on his first day there. Something about him had Penny stopping in more often to check on him. Owen enjoys her company, but he has to get past the handicaps in his mind as much as in his body. Penny had to get past her controlling parents and take control of her own life. One of my favorite series from this author.

Penny has worked hard to overcome all the challenges she has had to face, and it has only made her more determined to forge her own path by helping others rather than abiding by the future that her family wants for her. While attending Hathaway House she meets Owen under less-than-ideal circumstances but has feelings for him that she has never felt before.

After an injury ended his career as a SEAL Owen is trying to adjust to both his injuries and the direction his life should take. The opportunities that Hathaway House offers is too good to pass up and when he meets Penny, she gives him a sense of peace and hope for the future but not everyone is happy that they are together.

This is a touching story about two people who have overcome so much and are willing to fight for the love and support that they have found in each other.

Owen finally has his chance at Hathaway House and he doesn't expect to meet Penny who the more he gets to know the more he cares for her and she feels the same way, so while he focusses on getting better she continues to deal with her family who don't get why she gives money away to great causes instead of making more. I loved how Owen and Penny could relate to each other as Penny was a sickly child so has to take care of herself while Owen recovers from his injuries and are both a great influence on each other while wanting them to stand on their own two feet (no pun intended). This is a sweet read with some good laughs, food that always makes me hungry and characters who you would love to be your friends in real life!

Nash sent Owen a picture of himself and his fiance plus he called to try and get Owen to apply to Hathaway House. Owen agreed and found himself on crutches walking into his new temporary home getting exhausted but filled with hope that he could improve this body he was left with after stepping to close to a landmine. This is his story and in it you find hope, love and honor abound. The people of Hathaway House are such givers and they understand pain. Again I find myself in a heart tugging story of such good people that I can't resist. There is always the doubting Thomas, some naysayers or/and a cynic thrown in for good measure but the good wins out and that's what this is all about. Great series and I can't wait to read about Percy's adventure coming soon.

I love this heartwarming book and the series. Owen is the latest wounded warrior to enter into Hathaway House. Owen is motivated to get back on his feet. On his first day, Owen meets Penny who lifts his spirits and they hit it off right away. Penny runs a charitable foundation and is a part time social worker at the Hathaway House. Though her family gives grudgingly to her foundation, they want to change Penny to be more like them. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I always look forward to books in this series. They are so uplifting and focused on veteran's healing. I also love the sweet romances that accompany each story. Hathaway House is a special place.

A very charged read. Owen of course, a wounded vet at Hathaway House, and Penny works outside of the place. Her family is wealthy, but she bugs her parents for money to help her with the charities she works with and Hathaway and the vet clinic is just two of them. That's how she meets Owen at his most vunerable moment. This story has some drama to it with her family butting in with her and Owen, who they think is after her money. But they don't really know his background before he went in the Navy. A great story with a HEA. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Owen has his work cut out for him when he arrives at Hathaway House. He is just not prepared for it to be on the field of love and the physical challenges ahead. Penny is a go getter and does not stop when she is raising money for her charities. She has to stop when she meets Owen and develops feelings for him. Is their bond going to be strong enough to withstand the familial issues? Love the twists weaved in the story.

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book and I absolutely loved it.

This is the the 15th book in the Hathaway House series, it's well-written with a sweet emotional storyline. Owen has arrived at Hathaway House for more therapy to heal from his war wounds, he meets Penny and they have an instant connection. There is plenty of family drama but Owen is steadfast about his feelings for Penny. Loving this series...

I have such a soft spot for this series. The medically retired service men and women come in broken, in both body and soul. You can almost feel their pain and despair. The staff sound too good to be true, I love their dedication. The author does a fantastic job in bringing these characters to life. They leave in weeks or months on the path to healing and finding love along the way.
Great series, I highly recommend it.

Owen on recommendation from Nash comes to Hathaway House. He feels likes a broken man, but he is determined to get better and stronger. He meets Penny, who is one of the main benefactors of Hathaway on his first day. They form an instant friendship. It's a sweet story of finding love when you least expect it and discovering who you are and why people sometimes act the way they do. Love this series. I volunteered to read this book via Booksprout.

Owen and Penny have a lot in common, so it's easy to see that they'd be a great couple.
Penny is kind and compassionate, always looking to help those who are less fortunate, even small animals.
Owen has a lot of the same qualities. Family issues on Penny's side are a bit of a problem, but Owen isn't going to let that stand in his way.
Another heartwarming story from Hathaway House.
