As a female city commissioner in an old boys club city like Boston, I have to be a professional, unemotional hard-ass to get things done. It’s never been a problem for me.
Until Kellen.
When fire engine company commander Kellen O’Connor stormed into my office to spar over budget cuts, I stood my ground.
I’ll admit...it took all of my focus. Kellen is what every fireman calendar wants to have on its cover-huge, gorgeous, rugged, all man.
As fate would have it, an unexpected roadside run-in with Kellen evolves into a fiery night of raw passion. Turns out two people who keep everything locked up tight inside are absolutely explosive together when they let go.
When a tragedy strikes, lines between us are drawn again and it’s as if that searing night of sexual escape never happened.
Can we keep it professional? Or will the heat between us melt those barriers once and for all?

Jaquelin Blake, (Jack) is the city commissioner. Kellen O’Connor, the captain of the Engine 10 Company, wants more funds for fire department budget. When Jack tells him she is unable to help him, he is furious.
A major fire sends the men of company 10 out to battle an out of control hotel fire. Due to lack of men, tragedy strikes and people die. Feeling helpless and angry, Kellen calls her out in TV as the reason for the tragedy.
Kellen wants to apologize to Jack for losing control and make another attempt at procuring funds. He notices the reflection of the sun off of metal on a rooftop and knocks her to the ground seconds before a bullet flies he direction. She now has a sniper out to kill her. Kellen will do everything and anything he can to protect her, the woman he is falling in love with.
In Fight Fire With Fire, a new series Men of Engine 10 by Joanna Rose, we are introduced to a tight knit group of firefighters. This group of guys are very dedicated to their work and loyal to each other. We meet Aiden, Kellen's brother; Sullivan Wash, Sully; and Redmond Donovan.
Kellen's and Jack's relationship is intense. They give each other someone to care about other than work. The story has arson, vengeance and shootings. It is the perfect blend of some action and a lot of romance.
Fight Fire with Fire is the first book in the Men of Engine 10 Series and if the other books are like this one then this is going to be a fiery hot, on the edge of your seat series. This story introduces the reader to the world of Engine 10 and specifically Jaquelin "Jake" Blake and Kellen O'Connor. Jake is a Boston City Commissioner and Kellen is actually Chief O'Connor of the Boston Fire Department. So let's just say that these two are on opposites sides of the bureaucracy fence and things burn hot between them, with neither willing to blink first. You just have to love a woman that is willing to take on a Boston Fire Chief. She may be strong willed, smart and ready to stand her ground, all which get under Kellen's skin. But she is also very sexy and when things happen his big bad Alpha comes out and kicks into possessive and protective mode full force. He may have been tall, handsome and sexy before but when that his Alpha comes out just add "sex-on-a-stick" to the description. This story is well written and has a story-line and characters which I enjoyed a lot. I can't wait to read the next in the series to see what happens next.

This is the first book I read by this author, and I have to say she catches me right at the first page. It's about Kellen and Jacquelin. When they first meet they immediately collided with each other because they can both be very stubborn. But you immediately feel the attraction between them and the chemistry. She's a Commissioner and he's a Firefighter. He wants more money and she refuses to give it to him and then the bomb burst. After he has replaced her flat tire on the car one evening, they end up in bed together. The next day he is called away from a fire where unfortunately 7 people die. When he accuses her of the 7 dead out of anger, he puts a target on her head without knowing it. When he finds out what he has unconsciously set this into motion out of anger, everything goes into gear. It will be a rollercoaster of feelings and emotions, but also tension, fear, violence, and danger, not to mention the passion and heat scenes between them.
It is too much to mention what is happening, I can only say one thing, go and read the book yourself and you will not be disappointed, because the characters and the characters, but also the storyline structure is fantastic!

Joanna Rose has done it again! This story is the sexiest one I have read so far. Jacquelin (Jack) Blake is the City Commissioner for Boston, a job she worked hard and sacrificed much for. She created a new budget for the city based on information she received from different departments. When the fire department Chief Hoss sent Engine Company Chief O'Connor to meet with her about their need for more firefighters instead of coming himself, it irked Jacquelin so she denied O'Connor vehemently and kicked him out of her office. When a fire started that the short-handed fire department could not contain. This made Chief O'Connor so mad that he commented on live TV that if anyone died it would be the fault of the City Commissioner. This story is full of action, plenty of steam, and ends in a HEA. Highly recommended for adult romance readers.

Jacqueline first meets Kellen in an rather uncomfortable meeting where they both gets proof of the stubbornness from the other. But they are also drawn to each other even if she as Commissioner and he as Firefighter know how to put up a facade of untouchability. What is when this facade crushes? What is when tough decisions have to been made? What is if those decisions are leading to a catastrophe? What is if the danger gets real? Wosh! All this questions! And only one answer. Read this! I did and I liked it a lot. Not only the nice side of the story but also the nasty ones were well written with compassion, love and friendship forefront. Now we got to wait for Shailene and Sully...

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for a review. Janna Rose is a favorite author and this latest book doesn't disappoint. Centered around the crew of fire engine 10, the story is riveting and I got so engrossed in it I missed dinner. Seems to be a habit when I'm reading Joanna Rose and next book of hers I get to read I'm going to use the timer on my stove to remind me to come up for air. The hunky guys from this fire station are the stuff dreams are made of. Dedicated to their jobs, but intense and devoted to those they care for. Facing danger every day, they still manage to remain human and this is what shot to my heart. Highly recommend read as are all of Joanna's books. If I see a book with her name on it, I know I'm in for a treat.
I really enjoyed reading Fight Fire with Fire by Joanna Rose because it was a very steamy and passionate story about Jaquelin and Kellen. Jaquelin is the city commissioner and Kellen is a firefighter. They had a very heated and passionate night together and then things started to get complicated. Kellen mistakenly put Jaquelin's life in danger over an interview he had done. This story was very intense and had me wondering what was going to happen next. There was definitely drama in this story as well as heated passion. I would highly recommend reading this story. It was a great first book in the series. It was on fire with the passion and drama.

Kellen was a firefighter who went to see the Commissioner in charge of funding for the fire dept. Jaqueline had fought hard for everything she had got and so knocked heads with Kellen when they first met despite the immediate attraction they each felt. This story was lots of drama, mystery and an intensity that ruled throughout the book. There were some steamy scenes though not many but didn't need to be, although I did enjoy the emotional intimacy displayed. This couple, Kellen and Jaqueline were magnetic and fun to read about. Certainly a great book that was very hard to put down till the very end.

This was a book that took off with a bang The perfect mix of politics, suspense and sizzling hot romance it delivers on more than one front
Jacqueline Jack Blake is a city commissioner and she has had to be tough after all she is a woman in a boys club here in Boston in fact she ahs to tougher than anybody So when When company commander Kellen O’Connor comes storming into her office over budget cuts there is no way she is backing down no matter how hot he is The only problem is that all that passion has to find an outlet and before they know it they are sharing a passionate night together. Soon battle lines are drawn again and by mistake he puts her life in danger Can he keep her safe and will they admit their true feelings You will have to read to see
I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Kellen and Jacquelin have a suspenseful enemies to lovers story. She is the Commissioner and he is the firefighter on opposite ends of a budget. They have an instant attraction but that does not stop the problems. They have a hard time denying their attraction. Tragedy strikes and he verbally attacks. Kellen has unknowingly put her in danger and has to fix it. Their story is full of drama, heartache, danger, lust and finally love.

This is part of the Men of Engine 10 Series and is a good read. They say that there's a fine line between love and hate and that's so true in this story. Jaquelin and Kellan's chemistry was off the charts and their passion could ignite a fire. But they became bitter enemies when he unknowingly put her life in danger. This book was fast paced and overflowing with emotion. Once I started reading I found it hard to put down. Talk about an emotional roller coaster and a fire that refuses to be extinguished. OMG! What an ending to this first book of a brand new series!! This couple was so closed off from most other people but they sure did gravitate to each other rather quickly after their first utterly disastrous meeting. With just a little bit of politics, a bunch of hot love scenes, and just enough suspense, this book definitely bumps Joanna further up the list of my favorite authors!

This is such a good story. It was hard to put down once i started reading it. Jack and Kellen are made for each other. Both spitfire’s and have the same ‘not backing down’ approach. Their first encounter was intense and they both had dreams of being with the other. Tragedy strikes and Kellen will not leave her side ensuring her safety. Sad what happened but luckily she comes out on the other side of things. They get their happy ever after. I need more from this crew. Hope the series continues.

I liked the story but almost didn't get past 50%. When Kellen would not let Jack go and get her gun, I thought what an idiot. The cop outside did get shot, there was no reason for her to not have the gun. Also in the end why did she not break the window with the gun? Authors try to write strong females but then don't keep them that way. The birth control was another issue. They never returned to her house to get anything. Most women I know leave that in the medicine cabinet. The way is was brought up repeatedly should have made it clearer.
This was a rather exciting read and I’m glad I took the time to read it. The characters were memorable and the plot was fantastic. The characters grew over the story and the plot was great with action and a little bit of suspense.
I give this a four out of five stars. Great plot and characters, I look forward to the next in the series.

A great author to follow.Wow, what an amazing read! Full of action and mystery but also characters with some chemistry to burn the house down and I mean with our two strong minded Jacqueline and Killen! This was a great read I think you’ll love!

The author tried to do too much in too short of a book. The story was good and the characters interesting but I wanted more of them. The suspenseful scenes were also too short to build up much suspense. Not a bad read, just not a great one.

This is a well-plotted, tightly written romantic suspense with two perfectly crafted characters, Jaquelin the city commissioner, and Kellen the firefighter. The conflict was off the charts and the narrative was excellent for the genre. Highly recommend this read.
This was a very good book. I enjoyed from start to finish. The characters were good and the jobs were described well. It had the bad fire that brought up many issues. I read it in one afternoon and really wished it was longer.
Omg glad I found this series ... both of them are stuxk in a job that takes over both there jobs ... finding each other makes them see there’s more then life then your job ..
As a fire fighter Keelen doesn't seem able or willing to douse the fire between Jacqueline and himself. Don't scorch your fingers turning the pages of this book because there's plenty of heat in this story from start to finish. There are books that you can put down and pick up again later, this wasn't one of those for me, this was a one sitting read.

This was an action packed romance! Sparks were certainly flying every time Kellen and Jacquelin met, with each encounter super stormy or super steamy. There were some tragedies and intrigue which kept the story fast-paced and interesting, as well as some gut-wrenching moments. I thought this book was well written and quite entertaining.
